Huge bloon traps can trap some of the largest of bloons in them..
~ BTDB2 descrption

XXXL Trap is the 5th upgrade of Path 3 for the Engineer Monkey in Bloons TD Battles 2. It replaces the old Bloon Trap with a much larger gray XXXL trap that can eliminate many more bloons, including MOAB-class bloons (excluding BADs), provided the Engineer could see them at the time of deployment. Each XXXL Trap consumes up to 10,000 RBE, and its capacity can overflow. Full traps can be manually collected for up to $7500, gathering $0.75 per natural bloon, although they still cannot generate money from sent bloons. Traps can autocollect for the full amount after 15 seconds elapses, but such an endeavor obviously wastes time. It is similar to its BTD6 counterpart, with some major differences in terms of functionality.

XXXL Trap's refreshment rate is consistent and has a very fast hardcapped deployment rate of 1.5s. The rapid refreshment rate is also very consistent, only having a small gap between each deployment, exactly every 1.5s. However, the trap cannot be boosted by external speed buffs except Monkey Boost. Faster Engineering crosspath doesn't actually increase the rate of producing traps, but Larger Service Area crosspath allows traps to be redeployed manually anywhere within range.

It costs $54,000, and is unlocked with a one-off purchase of Monkey Money1500 to unlock all Tier 5 Engineer Monkey upgrades.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

XXXL Trap has a quite quick rate of instakilling blimps, which help the Engineer to dispatch lots of non-BAD rushes. The refreshment rate of XXXL Trap is quite high, capable of taking down a lot of DDTs, but not quite fast enough to catch an infinite number of boosted DDTs. In addition, the extra money generated from naturally occurring blimps makes it helpful at capturing MOAB-class bloons as a bonus.

Tips[]

  • 0-1-5 helps XXXL Trap to reposition traps. Strangely enough, 2-0-5 doesn't actually increase production rate of the traps, making that crosspath redundant. 0-2-5 is no different from 0-1-5 because it does not gain the Deconstruction benefits that are added in BTD6.
  • If using a Radar Scanner to cover camo detection and hence allow XXXL Trap to trap DDTs, buy the Radar Scanner first before sending XXXL Trap.

Bugs[]

Current

none

Patched
  • [1.0.5, Season 2] If a UFO BAD passes over a XXXL Trap, the game will crash. It is known to crash on the Mobile and Steam versions. Also applies to Mortar Mastery ZOMG and Mauler MOAB (Bomb Mastery MOAB). Other blimp skins aren't confirmed yet. Patched on about Version 1.1.0.
  • [1.0.5] Frozen Bloons mess up with the XXXL Trap money generation calculations, resulting in less than $5000 cash per collection. Patched on about Version 1.1.0; has not been documented since, and probably fixed already.
