“ | All heroes wear capes! Give this to one of your Dart Monkeys and watch the transformation! Slightly used condition, only minor tiers, er, I mean tears. | ” |
~ Description of "Worn Hero's Cape" |
Worn Hero's Cape is an item purchasable in Geraldo's Shop. It is a single-use item that can be given to any Dart Monkey below Tier 3, converting its target into a permanent 0-0-0 Super Monkey restricted to only Tier 3 upgrades max. Worn Hero's Cape is unlocked with Level 6+ Geraldo. His store can hold up to 3 Worn Hero's Capes. Upon unlocking, he starts with one cape, and each cape takes 7 rounds to refresh stock.
Monkeys with Worn Hero's Cape have an icon of a Worn Hero's Cape on the left of the upgrade portrait of the tower's upgrade HUD.
Worn Hero's Cape cannot be bought on Primary Monkeys Only or any game mode that disables Super Monkeys. Because a Dart Monkey with a Worn Hero's Cape technically counts as a true Super Monkey with only restrictions to its own maximum tiers, the newly transformed tower is treated in-game as a Super Monkey.
It costs $1,485 on Easy, $1,750 on Medium, $1,890 on Hard, $2,100 on Impoppable.
Strategy[]
Summary[]
Worn Hero's Cape allows for interesting use for both creating cheap Super Monkeys and for compacting Super Monkeys within tight spaces. It can be very useful on CHIMPS, since most Super Monkey upgrades beyond Tier 3 are too expensive for general use (except Tech Terror and Dark Champion), making the Tier 3 Super restriction negligible in practical scenarios.
Tips[]
- Worn Hero's Cape + Dart Monkey costs $1950 on Medium, assuming no discounts. Using a Dart Monkey + Worn Hero's Cape saves $550 on Medium. This increases to $750 if you use it on a Free Dart Monkey. On a standard game of CHIMPS, which generally uses Hard prices, Dart Monkey + Worn Hero's Cape saves $595.
- On Medium, a Super Monkey discounted by three Monkey Commerces costs $1875 on Medium, which is worse cost-efficiency than the Worn Hero's Cape + Dart Monkey.
- Dart Monkeys have smaller footprints than Super Monkeys, so using a Dart Monkey + Worn Hero's Cape can allow you to squeeze Super Monkeys into smaller places, notably on top of Carrier Flagships or in the center barrel of Spillway. However, the transformed Super Monkey will have its base large footprint, so be sure to squeeze in towers before transforming.
- The Worn Hero's Cape cannot be used if the max monkey limit is reached, however, it does not increase the monkey amount. For example, if the maximum amount of monkeys is set at two, and Geraldo and a Dart Monkey are already placed, you cannot use the cape on the Dart Monkey, since you've reached the max monkeys limit. If the max monkeys limit is set at three instead, you can use the cape on the Dart Monkey, and then purchase another tower afterwards.
- This item is very useful for Freeplay, where Sun Avatars are often spammed for their high attack speed. It allows for more total Sun Avatars on the map thanks to the small space that Dart Monkeys take up.

Trivia[]
- The Worn Hero's Cape's description accidentally puns on its tier 3 upgrade maximum with "only minor tiers", whereas "tears" refers to the tattered visual appearance of the cape item itself.
- The Worn Hero's Cape can be seen as something of a counterpart to Super Monkey Fan Club. However it can only affect one Dart Monkey at a time, in exchange for a permanent, arguably stronger effect, and being significantly cheaper.
- Worn Hero's Cape is one of the items in Geraldo's shop which is not improved at higher levels; the others are the Rare Quincy Action Figure, Paragon Power Totems and Pet Rabbits.
- According to Ninja Kiwi's 25th August 2023 blog, Worn Hero's Capes belonged to Super Monkeys in battle, with these capes being damaged in battle.
