Hello Bloons people, here are a few words about the correct using of hyperlinks, that even many professional web designers don't know.

Hyperlinks have two main purposes:

  • To provide an easy way to access another page. There is no needed to type a whole address of the page to the address line of the web browser, because users can simply click the link, and the page is opened
  • To give an information about the page, where the link leads to. That is why the text of the link is highlighted. However, when you name your link "here", "click here", "read this", "go back", users have no information, where the link leads to, and they must search the adjacent text to find out.

So, instead of "For more information about RBE click here."
type something like "You can see more information on the RBE page."

or instead of "Before you contribute, please read our policies here."
just "Before you contribute, please read our policies."

or instead of "If you are interested in weapons, look on this."
something like "If you are interested in weapons, look on the AK-47 page."

I know that you can see a lot of "click here" links around the internet and many people even don't know that there is something wrong with that, however if you watch Wikipedia or Wikia pages carefully (or any other internet projects, that are trying to follow Web etiquette), you won't see much of these links there, so please try to follow this rule on Bloons Wiki, and feel free to fix any similar links around the wiki that you will find.

Don't title your link "Click Here". Don't even use the words "Click" or "Here" anywhere in your link text. Describe what the link will do for the user when they click on it.
