Unstable Concoction is the 3rd upgrade on Path 2 of the Alchemist in Bloons TD Battles 2. It adds a new concoction attack to the Alchemist's arsenal. In terms of functionality for its new concoction attack, it is similar to its BTD6 counterpart, except it is more expensive. Additionally, all concoction effects coated onto blimps are now green to distinguish from purple acid from Stronger Acid.
This upgrade gives the Alchemist an additional concoction attack that only targets MOAB-class Bloons, applying a concoction status effect that makes it unstable. A MOAB-class Bloon inflicted with unstable splash will create a large explosion when popped, dealing damage equivalent to 10% of its health to other blimps or 1% to bloons, without taking into account Freeplay health scaling. Unstable potions are thrown every 4.5s (every 2.7s with Faster Throwing), each have 3 pierce (4 with 1-3-0), and a splash radius of 14 units (21 units with Larger Potions). This additional concoction attack also has increase 50% attack range compared to alchemist itself.
Concoction explosions have a blast radius of 40 units and affect up to 50 bloons, but MOAB-class bloons consume more pierce. MOABs and BFBs consume 2, ZOMGs and DDTs consume 4, and BADs consume 10. These explosions can pop any non-camo bloon type, and can affect camos if the original Alch was given camo detection at the time.
It costs $4,000, and is unlocked with the purchase of Alchemist.
Strategy[]
Summary[]
Unstable Concoction is deals a lot of collateral damage, which is helpful against tight blimp rushes, but also quite prone to producing too many smaller bloons at once.
Tips[]
- 0-3-1 Concoction is usually better than 1-3-0, as the offers more attack speed for concoction potions, and the +1 pierce (equivalent +33% pierce) isn't as significant as the +66% attack speed. Tier 2 upgrades can be added to support other functionalities of the Alch but are irrelevant for Concoction.
- Try setting Unstable Concoction on Strong to target the stronger blimps first.
