  • IMO, this wiki needs to be changed in a way that all contributors have to log in to contribute. Advantages to the wiki include:

    • Vandalism is reduced.
    • Anyone can actually trace the creation of accounts on the Special:Log page.
    • It's easier to tell the difference between a user and another user if both of them are logged in.
    • Logged-in users also have an actual edit count.
    • Logged-in users can be given rights if they are eligible.
    • It's far easier to type in a username than to type in an IP address.

    There is one disadvantage, however:

    • There would be a slight reduction in the amount of edits made to the wiki, thus reducing productivity.

However, that disadvantage is negated by the fact that a wiki would rather have very few edits that are benign than a huge amount of edits that are made out of bad faith.

    • There are still far too little edits, so no. It has been discussed many times.

Yes, it has been discussed many times. Actually, most of the contributions (including rubbish edits and useful edits) are made by anonymous users, in fact, there are a main component in this wiki, if they swear or made useless edits, spike144 (or another admin in the future) can remove the contributions or block them, as a result, they have better in editing than destroying by the control of an admin.

But I simply don't understand. How will making everyone need to log in make any huge difference (and one-edit users aren't sustainable in the long term anyway) to the edits made in the wiki?

    • What about those who cannot edit the wiki because they are under-13? All IPs can be under-13.

    • @TOTMGsRock:

Many people don't want to have an account as they don't plan to edit more than once. They just want to quickly fix or add something they have just noticed incorrect or missing.

      Oh. Makes sense.
