Hypnotic tune can affect low tier MOAB-Class Bloons and strips Camo. Can be set to echo from a nearby point.
~ In-game descripion

Symphonic Resonance is the fourth upgrade of Path 3 for the Mermonkey in Bloons TD 6. The Mermonkey's Alluring Melody is improved to hypnotize MOABs and DDTs, as well as stripping all Camo properties from affected bloons and no Ceramic pierce penalty. Hypnotised MOAB-class bloons move anticlockwise at 1x speed. Additionally, the hypnotic tune can be centered anywhere within Mermonkey's range instead of just the center of itself. With Manual Targeting, an Allure Totem can be set within range, at a long cooldown to set and un-set the totem. Max damage-over-time trigger damage is now 500 per hypnosis. Range increases to 32, 40 on water, but with a single Echosense Network the default range is actually 33.92 and 42.4.

Symphonic Resonance's hypnotic allure is even stronger. It no longer consumes more pierce versus Ceramics, and is able to attract MOABs and DDTs, at pierce penalties of 3 and 5, respectively. The trance's allure pierce is 4 (5 with 0-1-4) and allowed to overflow. The Allure Totem can be set and un-set, with equal range as the parent Symphonic Resonance, anywhere within its local range except on "solid" unplaceable land (but not "void" such as in Infernal or Sanctuary) but including bloon track, with a cooldown of 5s to set and un-set the totem.

This upgrade costs $6,460 on Easy, $7,600 on Medium, $8,210 on Hard, and $9,120 on Impoppable.

Description[]

Overview[]

Symph demonstration bfb

Symphonic Resonance hypnotising BFBs with the allure aura

Like Alluring Melody, Symphonic Resonance is based on the siren from mythology, a half-woman, half-bird mermaid-like creature who can sing sweetful music to lure sailors towards her, causing any foolish sailors to meet their doom. However, the Mermonkey with the Symphonic upgrade is more piscine, which aligns with many modern interpretations of sirens.

Symphonic Resonance inverts the colors of pink and blue across her body, plus a more elaborate set of decorations and love staff. She grows pink fur instead of cyan fur, has blue eyelashes and blue eybrows, grows a coral-like formation on her forehead, and her tailfin is blue, transitioning colors from light pink to light-dark blue between with the scales of the tailfin. There are some aquatic coral growing on the rock that the Mermonkey sits on; green coral grows outside the rock, and smaller yellow coral grows on the front of the rock. In the upgrade portrait, Symphonic Resonance has two visible upper teeth, and the Mermonkey sings with her eyes closed, and holds her right arm outwards as she sings. Although her eyes are closed in the upgrade portrait, her pupils are now blue instead of white, as shown in the Symphonic Resonance's in-game model.

Symph totem

Symphonic Resonance's Allure Totem activating, hypnotising MOABs

The Allure Totem can be activated by pressing a special Manual Targeting button consisting of a reticle encircling an open clamshell. If summoned, the Allure Totem will appear. It is a navy-blue Greek column decorated with seashells, seaweed, a starfish on the front, and a large white clamshell on top. If the Symphonic Resonance activates the Allure Totem's alluring aura, the clamshell opens, and once the duration of the alluring aura expires then the clamshell closes again. If the totem is sold, bubbles are emitted.

When upgrading to Symphonic Resonance, or the Allure Totem is set or un-set, a singing SFX plays. The Allure Totem is not visible unless the player activates the position of the Allure Totem, but the Allure Totem can still be de-activated to remove it.

Crosspathing alters the appearance of the Mermonkey with Alluring Melody. For Path 1 crosspathing, Trident Efficiency, the horns of the Mermonkey become blue, and the fur of the Mermonkey becomes dark purple with Trident Swiftness. As for Path 2 crosspathing, Sharper Prongs gives a white-outlined lined crown, and a crystal at the forehead and a cyan-filled hearts in the love staff with Tidal Chill.

Symphonic Resonance is an improved version of Alluring Melody, producing a stronger aura of musical bars encircling the Mermonkey, which additionally pull smaller MOAB-class bloons (MOABs and DDTs) and strip camo properties, plus a higher maximum trigger damage of instantly activated damage-over-time effects. Every time this attack is made, she makes an eerie song. There is a long initial cooldown to begin, and a shorter cooldown after finishing the melodious allure. The alluring hallucination rapidly attracts more and more bloons per second, and much more bloons per attraction of bloons.

Additionally, Symphonic Resonance can summon an Alluring Totem that adjusts the positioning of the alluring radius. The alluring radius of the Alluring Totem always is the same as the parent Symphonic Resonance. There is a long cooldown to set and un-set the totem, and once the totem is activated, the only way to change positions of the totem is to un-set it and then re-set the position.

Targeting Priorities[]

Symphonic Resonance targets bloons using the standard targeting priorities. Its trident attack shoots straight movement projectiles.

  • First: Targets the first bloon visible within its range.
  • Last: Targets the last bloon visible within its range.
  • Close: Targets the closest bloon visible within its range.
  • Strong: Targets the strongest bloon visible within its range.

Symphonic Resonance’s hallucinating allure is locked on Close. The Echosense Network buff targets only x-x-2+ Mermonkeys across the whole screen.

Although it already comes with Echosense Precision, which grants camo detection to the Mermonkey, it does not add the Camo Prioritization targeting option.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

Symphonic Resonance allows the forced repositioning of smaller MOAB-class bloons, including DDTs, supporting the defense with a concentrated area for defenses to focus upon, in addition to giving more time for defenses to handle swarms of smaller blimps. Damage-over-time instant triggers are also stronger with the improved maximum damage, particularly in combination with certain damage-over-time effects that specifically deal high damage to MOAB-class bloons. However, like Alluring Melody, and unlike Giant Condor, the Symphonic Resonance has a long cooldown between the creation of alluring auras, and therefore it cannot be relied entirely for blimp control, and won't be entirely sufficient for sustained fast-moving blimp rounds such as Round 95.

The uniqueness of the Symphonic Resonance's stall potential but slow attack speed sets the Symphonic Resonance as more of a support unit than an independent one. Without taking advantage of the stall or the triggered instant damage-over-time while the allure aura is active, the Symphonic Resonance does little to assist aside from delaying the movement of affected blimps and bloons.

While the Giant Condor fulfills a similar unique niche of forcefully repositioning smaller blimps and bloons, both Symphonic Resonance and Giant Condor can be paired together to cover their own weaknesses. Both have separate issues for downtime, but with Symphonic Resonance having better stalling power while active but Condor having more versatile lane-switching in addition to reasonable blimp damage, they together will help greatly minimize problems with BFBs and MOABs.

Tips[]

  • Pairing with high DoT towers, such as The Bloon Solver (especially the 5-0-2 crosspath of Bloon Solver) and Blooncineration, can quickly inflict high amounts of damage to affected MOAB-class bloons.
  • Certain towers can benefit both from the instant DoT triggers and the forced bloon repositionings.
    • Glaive Lord combos exceptionally well with this upgrade. The DoT effect applied to MOAB-Class Bloons can do insane damage when combined with the Melody's instant detonation and the ability to crowd a lot of Bloons together in a circle combos with the Glaive Lord's passive orbiting rings very well.
    • Blooncineration can also be a strong choice, as the constant walls of fire apply a very strong DoT, combined with the previously mentioned combo due to the Mortar's attack pattern.
  • Could possibly be used for Orca synergy with large quantities of weaker targets, but misaligned timings could be a concern when both of them are on cooldown.
  • Corvus benefits from Symphonic Resonance because it helps encircle the Bloons around for Corvus to better utilise his spells, especially Ancestral Might, as bunching the blimps together help the spells focus on a larger group of blimps.
  • 2-0-4 Symphonic Resonance is generally more effective than 0-2-4 if considering uptime, though 0-1-4 adding +1 pierce to the hypnosis allows it to hypnotize an extra MOAB at the same time; there's usually not much point going further to 0-2-4, which doesn't add anything to the hypnotize aura.
  • Because this allure consumes no extra pierce versus Ceramics, it is more helpful for dense Bloon rounds like Round 63 than its predecessor. That being said, multiple x-x-3 is cheaper and more efficient for that purpose.
  • The cumulative upgrade costs of Symphonic Resonance is comparable to that of Giant Condor.
  • Symphonic Resonance's rate of decamo via the alluring aura's hypnosis is very slow and is prone to pierce-capping. Because of this, it should not be the only tower for stripping camo properties, and should never be the only source of decamo against Round 78.
  • Because of the long cooldown to set and un-set the Alluring Totem, it will be harder to micromanage the locations for hypnotising Bloons. However, the cooldown doesn’t stop between rounds, and hence it can be moved further along the track, which is helpful for alternating lane maps such as Muddy Puddles.
  • It may be worthwhile to use an Overclock to boost the rate of the Symphonic Resonance, improving the consistency of its alluring aura.
  • While possible to use the Symphonic Resonance's Allure Totem as a candidate to Door Gunner, the capability to stall blimps with a moveable alluring aura isn't super useful, as the Special Poperations's helicopter darts do quite a lot of damage. That being said, this interaction could be used in the meantime when transitioning into The Final Harmonic.

Version History[]

Echosense Network hasn't felt like it is doing all that it could, so we have increased the maximum number of stacks to raise the ceiling of use here as it is meant to be slow ramping with a high space & cost investment to build heavily into. Mermonkey's trance was extremely powerful against MOABs but limited against regular Bloons, so we've shifted prices apart & improved T3 while raising the cost of T4 to a more appropriate level. Same as with Abyss Dweller the middle crosspath has shown to be less useful for higher tiers, so this also sees a pierce increase to the Trance attack.

  • BUFF 0-1-4 Symphonic Resonance allure pierce now gains a further +1 pierce. Also affects subsequent upgrades.
  • NERF Symphonic Resonance price increased from $4600 to $7600
