Super Monkey

The Super Monkey is an expensive but powerful tower in Bloons TD Battles 2. Super Monkey specializes in attacking quickly, specializing almost fully in DPS. It has various options that allow it to become a dominating DPS tower, but requires support to actually serve value.

The aim of this article is a general guide for using the Super Monkey. It summarizes how to effectively use Super Monkey without going into too much intricate detail about meta strategy.

Base Tower[]

Super Monkey
  • Cost: $1,800
  • Unlock: Unlock Super Monkey

Base Super Monkey shoots darts very, very quickly. For base Super Monkey, it is mainly used for early MOABs or to chip down early Spaced Whites or Spaced Blacks. Setting on Strong is generally the best option for a base Super Monkey, which allows it to target the strongest bloons.

Upgrades[]

Laser Blasts[]

Laser Blasts
  • Cost: $1,400
  • Path: 1
  • Tier: 1
  • Unlock: Unlock Super Monkey

Laser Blasts allows the Super Monkey to pop two bloons per shot, piercing through more bloons per shot. Lasers pop Frozen Bloons but not Purple Bloons.

Plasma Blasts[]

Plasma Blasts
  • Cost: $2,500
  • Path: 1
  • Tier: 2
  • Unlock: Unlock Super Monkey

Plasma Blasts pops three bloons per shot, attack twice as fast, and pop Lead Bloons. This upgrade greatly increases its DPS by attacking even faster.

Sun Avatar[]

Sun Avatar
  • Cost: $11,500
  • Path: 1
  • Tier: 3
  • Unlock: Unlock Super Monkey

Sun Avatar pops more bloons per shot and shoots three simultaneous sunrays per shot. An expensive option that packs a lot of DPS value, and a large amount of synergy with supports such as Monkey Commerce and Embrittlement. High projectile count benefits the most from damage buffs - a single extra layer buff becomes +90 DPS. Is much less cost-efficient than Robo and Dark Knight when buffs/debuffs aren't provided.

Sun Temple[]

Sun Temple
  • Cost: $80,000
  • Path: 1
  • Tier: 4
  • Unlock: Unlock Super Monkey

Sun Temple sacrifices all towers in range and converts the towers into additional power for itself, boosting its main attack and gaining a variety of unique attacks. A lot of monetary investment is required to make use of this upgrade. Further supporting it with additional buffs will maximize its true power.

True Sun God[]

True Sun God
  • Cost: $200,000
  • Path: 1
  • Tier: 5
  • Unlock: 1,500 Monkey Money

Like Sun Temple, True Sun God needs another set of sacrifices to maximize its true power. It is literally the most expensive upgrade in the whole game, and requires exorbitant investments to optimize it.

Super Range[]

Super Range
  • Cost: $1,000
  • Path: 2
  • Tier: 1
  • Unlock: Default

Super Range increases both the range and pierce of the Super Monkey. With this upgrade, Super Monkeys become more reliable against groups of bloons at a further range.

Epic Range[]

Epic Range
  • Cost: $1,000
  • Path: 2
  • Tier: 2
  • Unlock: Default

Epic Range further increases both the range and pierce of the Super Monkey. With this upgrade, Super Monkeys become much better against groups of bloons at an even further range.

Robo Monkey[]

Robo Monkey
  • Cost: $10,000
  • Path: 2
  • Tier: 3
  • Unlock: Unlock Super Monkey

Robo Monkey shoots from two guns at once, pierces through a lot of bloons, and can occasionally deal random critical hits. For a moderate price, it does a lot of general damage to single-targets and handles bloons decently. 2-3-0 slightly edges both Sun Avatar and 2-0-3 Dark Knight by ~0.85 DPS in raw damage. Usually needs external support for Camo Detection, as 2-3-0 is almost always better.

Tech Terror[]

Tech Terror
  • Cost: $20,000
  • Path: 2
  • Tier: 4
  • Unlock: Unlock Super Monkey

Tech Terror shoots plasma balls that pierce more bloons and attack quicker, and gains an ability that can deal massive damage to an arbitrarily high number of bloons within its blast. Tech Terror's ability can decimate a densely packed rush. Tech Terror is best used for its ability; the extra +25% attack speed and +2 pierce are inferior in comparison to its ability.

The Anti-Bloon[]

The Anti-Bloon
  • Cost: $90,000
  • Path: 2
  • Tier: 5
  • Unlock: 1,500 Monkey Money

The Anti-Bloon greatly increases its attack speed, pierce, damage, range, and crits much more frequently with much more damage. Its ability is also hugely improved to cover a much larger range and deal much more damage.

Knockback[]

Knockback
  • Cost: $3,000
  • Path: 3
  • Tier: 1
  • Unlock: Unlock Super Monkey

Knockback pushes back bloons hit by the Super Monkey, and slows Leads, Ceramics, and MOAB-class bloons other than BADs. This gives more time to deal with the bloons.

Ultravision[]

Ultravision
  • Cost: $1,200
  • Path: 3
  • Tier: 2
  • Unlock: Unlock Super Monkey

Ultravision gives the Super Monkey with camo detection and adds slightly more range.

Dark Knight[]

Dark Knight
  • Cost: $5,600 - $4,500
  • Path: 3
  • Tier: 3
  • Unlock: Unlock Super Monkey

Dark Knight deals much more MOAB-class damage per shot, gains extra pierce, and gains the ability to teleport to any valid location within range. A cost-effective option against MOAB-class bloons, particularly when spammed and given the 2-0-3 crosspath.

Dark Champion[]

Dark Champion
  • Cost: $30,000
  • Path: 3
  • Tier: 4
  • Unlock: Unlock Super Monkey

Dark Champion attacks twice as fast, deals much more damage, and pierces much more bloons. It is quite an expensive upgrade, but possesses extreme mobility. Despite gaining substantial stat boosts, a Dark Champion is actually less cost-effective than spamming 2-0-3 Dark Knights for raw damage.

Legend of the Night[]

Legend of the Night
  • Cost: $240,000
  • Path: 3
  • Tier: 5
  • Unlock: 50,000 XP

Legend of the Night, aside from a much stronger base attack, gains a passive ability that summons temporary black holes at all exits, causing leaking bloons to lose no lives. Legend of the Night's passive ability can be a life-saver in the extreme late-game if used correctly. It, however, does not work during Sudden Death. In addition, the Legend of the Night's main attack is MUCH less cost effective at raw damage than Dark Champion or Dark Knight spam.

General Strategy[]

All towers including Super Monkey start off with upgrades up to Tier 2. All upgrades are unlocked with Tower XP of the respective tower's type, and can be unlocked in any order provided that previous tiers on the same path are unlocked first. In order to suit the tower's varied specialties, some upgrades are better unlocked first before others. Below is a brief guide to unlocking Super upgrades.
