Throws hundreds of darts at hypersonic speeds with a huge attack range.
~ In-game description

The Super Monkey is a Magic-class tower. It throws one dart every 0.045 seconds that deals 1 damage per hit. It is specifically built for incredible DPS, primarily suitable for a late-game defense.

The Super Monkey is the fastest attacking base tower in the game, throwing at approximately 22.22 darts per second (equivalent to 0.045s cooldown per shot) each with 1 pierce and 1 damage. The Super Monkey actually has a medium-sized footprint in this game, equal to that of a Boomerang Monkey, Wizard Monkey, or Engineer Monkey; this allows large quantities of Super Monkeys to tightly fit around defensive locations, shutting down rushes with ease. Being the most expensive base tower in the game, the Super Monkey is considered one of the strongest 0-0-0 towers.

The base price for Super Monkey is $2000. It is unlocked by spending Monkey Money750, unlocking all upgrades up to Tier 4, plus another Monkey Money1,500 to unlock all its Tier 5 upgrades.

Description[]

The Super Monkey in Bloons TD 6 (and by extension, Bloons TD Battles 2) has a similar appearance to the Super Monkey in Bloons Super Monkey 2 Mobile. The "B" logo on its chest from earlier generation games has been replaced with a dart symbol instead. Compared to Bloons TD 6, not much has changed about the Super Monkey; it's still a good DPS tower with a high price.

Each path of the Super Monkey has the tower follow a different evolution from third-tier upgrades beyond.

The first path is a heavenly one, turning the Super Monkey into an Avatar of the Sun God.

The second path transforms the Super Monkey through experimental cybernetics and weaponry.

The new third path makes the Super Monkey a traditional anti-hero inspired by the Dark Knight iteration of Batman, contrasting with the original Super Monkey's Superman.'

Strategy[]

Summary[]

The Super Monkey is a magic monkey in Bloons TD Battles 2 that is great for DPS, but it is expensive and subpar for early-midgame defense. Usually, it is oriented for its incredible late-game defense. That being said, its early-game and mid-game isn’t terrible when given additional support, particularly with various synergies from normal Adora.

Tips[]

  • Monkey Village is a good pair with Super to accompany its incredible DPS potential if oriented for late-game.
  • Adora increases Super Monkey's pierce and range as early on as level 2, and increases Sun Avatar Damage and the True Sun God in the late game, making her very effective in Super Monkey strategies.

Monkey Mastery[]

Version History[]

Balance Changes[]

Just like its Battles 1 counterpart, the Super Monkey is rarely used in most games due to its sheer cost and inability to be used in early game and midgame (Most notably round 13) rushes. Despite its Dark Night and Tech Terror upgrade excelling at ZOMGs and DDTs, its BAD damage is considered to be a bit too inefficient to be effective. Instead, it is often reserved for special events like Play with Fire due to money being much more available and easy to stockpile. Currently, the only common loadout used in normal games with Super Monkey is Super-Dartling-Farm/Village, which is often paired with DJ Benjammin to help Dartling against mid-game rushes. It is also meta on Thin Ice, with the strategy Engi-Farm-Super with Churchill.

We copied over this interesting knockback change from BTD6, helping to make Super Monkey's ability more reliable with an added benefit. Additionally, the tier 5 ability cooldown was reduced so that there is more value in having the Anti-Bloon as a permanent tower, rather than just a tower to be sold and rebought for the ability.

  • NERF Sacrificing $15k of primary towers to 4/5xx reduces attack cooldown by 25% → 10%

    • [Undocumented bug] This was not implemented in this update
  • BUFF Sacrificing $15k of support towers to 4/5xx reduces attack cooldown of towers in range by 10% → 15%
  • BUFF Sacrificing $15k of support towers to 4/5xx spawns crates worth $750 → $2,000
  • BUFF Sacrificing $15k of support towers to 5xx creates big perma-spikes at a rate of 60s → 30s and no longer limited to 1 at a time
  • NERF Sacrificing $15k of primary towers to 4xx provides blades that deal 25 → 20 damage

  • NERF Sacrificing $15k of magic towers to 5xx provides mini sun avatars that deal 3 → 1 damage
We have made significant adjustments to a lot of Super Monkey's upgrades, as we feel like Super Monkey is not and has never been properly balanced for this game. While its main strength is its late game and we want to keep it that way, we do not think it should be to the extent where is has almost no use in the early/mid game. Therefore, we are making some pretty big price cuts to early tiers, while adjusting the tier 3s to balance out these price cuts so that they don't become too strong. A lot of the higher tiers have either been too expensive or too inefficient to have any practical use in ranked matches, and we want to change that. Legend of the Night's price tag was justifiably high for what it did, so it had to be reworked to receive a price cut. True Sun God (without sacrifices) was actually incredibly weak for its extreme price tag, with a lot of its strength coming from the weapons/buffs it receives and provides from sacrifices. We wanted to shift more of its strength to the vanilla weapon, as it should always be a powerful tower given its hefty price. Therefore, in addition to a giant price buff, we have increased its damage while weakening some of the strongest sacrifice benefits. Tech Terror has proven to be a great ability with the knockback addition, so we have slightly lowered its effectiveness.

3.3
  • NERF [Bugfix] 4/5xx with support sacrifices no longer gives +1 damage
No balance changes for Super Monkey, although note that there is a bugfix which is impactful on balance - 4/5xx with support sacrifices will no longer provide towers in range with +1 damage. 4xx with support sacrifices was an extremely cost effective upgrade due to this bug, so we have fixed this without changing anything else.
~ Ninja Kiwi
3.3.2
  • BUFF Robo Monkey: always crits every 15 shots rather than randomly between 15 and 20
  • BUFF Tech Terror: gains +4 → +6 pierce (x5x total pierce unchanged, upgrades now grants +3 instead of +5)
  • Change Anti Bloon: crits every 15 shots rather than randomly between 13 and 17
We've removed the minimal RNG from Robo Monkey while slightly buffing it at the same time, as it's not seen as a particularly great upgrade. Likewise, Tech Terror is not amazing if you disregard its ability, meaning it's always sold instantly after using the ability. We've buffed up its regular attack so that there is more value in keeping it around
~ Ninja Kiwi
4.0
  • BUFF Plasma Blasts: $3,000 → $2,500
  • NERF Sun Avatar: $11,000 → $11,500
  • NERF Dark Knight: $4,000 → $4,500
  • BUFF Sun Temple: main weapon base damage 8 → 11
Plasma Blasts in an upgrade that rarely gets used on its own (usually just used as a crosspath), so we’ve lowered its cost while adjusting 3xx and xx3 so that their total cost remains unchanged. Additionally, Super Monkey has struggled quite a bit since we fixed/nerfed Sun Temple a few updates ago, so we’re giving it a much needed damage buff.
~ Ninja Kiwi
4.0.2
  • BUFF Dark Champion: $30,000 → $27,000
  • BUFF Sacrificing $15k of magic monkeys to 4xx or 5xx: The Super Monkey will buff towers in range with +10% → +50% projectile lifespan and +2 pierce
4.2
  • BUFF True Sun God: main weapon base damage 30 → 38
True Sun God doesn't provide enough damage considering its massive price tag
~ Ninja Kiwi
4.2.1 OTA Update 2
  • NERF Base price increased from $1,800 → $2,000
Super Monkey is proving to be a bit too good as an early game defender which isn’t in keeping with its intended use as a late game powerhouse. We’re increasing its base cost so that it’s harder to get out early without impacting its late game usage too much.
