“ | Creates gigantic exploding spiked mines that can wipe out almost anything. | ” |
~ BTDB2 description |
Super Mines is the 5th upgrade on Path 1 of the Spike Factory in Bloons TD Battles 2. It is very similar to its BTD6 counterpart, except with a much lower cost and does not increase Napalm burn damage, matching the BTD6 pre-31.0 stats.
Super Mines produces super powerful mines at a much slower rate, every 3.5s at base. The spikes of the mines, each mine having 14 pierce, deal 50 damage, plus +20 to Ceramics and +15 to Fortified. Every time a spike depletes, it produces a mini-explosion that deal 20 damage, +10 to Ceramics and +5 to Fortified, onto up to 30 bloons at a 20 blast radius. Once the mine runs out of spikes or expires, it produces an explosion dealing 1000 damage, +250 to Fortified, on up to 80 bloons at a 100 blast radius. Napalm still does 1 damage every 2.0s for 6.0s.
It costs $90,000, and is unlocked with a one-off purchase of 1500 for all Tier 5 Spike Factory upgrades.
Strategy[]
Summary[]
An extremely expensive high raw-power investment whose value is maximized when maximizing its stockpiles. It is weak if improperly prepared in advance, but a very strong supplement to an already solid defense if used wisely. Super Mines works best when paired with buffs, maximizing its raw high stats.
Tips[]
- In terms of crosspathing value, both crosspaths have their merits. 5-2-0 is superior if going for pure damage, as the faster rate of stockpiling generates much more mines if the mines are constantly consumed. However, 5-0-2 is preferable for overall stockpiling power, as its high mine lifespan, capability to reposition mines, and start-of-round speed boosts allow that crosspath to excel at maximum stockpiling.
- 5-0-2 is riskier, as the very slow production speed makes it inferior at beating a sudden all-out rush, unless stockpiled to the max.
- You can use a well-stockpiled Super Mines to keep some mines on the track, and then sell off the Super Mines for a last ditch offense to the opponent while still having a beefy stockpile.
- A single mega explosion completely wipes out any Super Ceramics, and rips open the outer layers of weaker blimps, particularly DDTs.
- Ideally, afford Super Mines by Round 30, especially if using a strategy where other towers in the loadout are insufficient for R30+ rushes.
- Overclock + Super Mines is a strong combo, and thus can be paired with Captain Churchill and Banana Farm to afford this combo with ease by offering solid early-game greed.
- For Boat-Alch-Spac loadouts, use a Trade Empire army and multiple Rubber to Golds to make money in the late mid-game (R22-29), and then sell enough defense in the middle of Round 29 to afford an early Super Mines.
- In transition to Super Mines, a Spiked Mines is a great way to tank against Ceramic rushes, especially when max stockpiled and given a chosen crosspath for a particular purpose.
