Spirit of the Forest is the 5th and final upgrade of Path 2 for the Druid in Bloons TD Battles 2. In general, the Spirit of the Forest combines continually damaging on-track vines with cash generation and life regeneration, like its BTD6 counterpart. However, it has different amounts of money generation and handling of its abilities. Also an end-of-round cash of $2,500.
The money-generating ability is unique, and is much stronger than in BTD6. Instead of merging the cash generation ability into life regeneration, the Spirit of the Forest additionally gains the Spirit's Life Ability, which generates 25 lives at a cooldown of 40 seconds and initial cooldown of 15 seconds. Unlike its predecessor, the ability is a separate ability with a 15 second initial cooldown, 40 seconds cooldown, and gives $1500 and activates all other active Jungle's Bounty abilities when activated.
Within a few seconds of upgrading to a Spirit of the Forest, the tower will create 3 different types of permanent vines along the track that damage bloons that come in contact with them; bloons contacting the vines are damaged every 0.5s. However, unlike BTD6 it does not produce aftervines from instakill vines. Thorns deal 14 damage.
It costs $35,000, and is unlocked with the other tier 5 Druid upgrades for 1500.
Spirit of the Forest has very high pierce and can quickly handle grouped bloons provided a maxed vine load. However, its new ability also does life regeneration on top of higher income generation. The life regeneration can be helpful or harmful depending on circumstances, but often harmful for Heart of Vengeance strategies. Some decent amount of single-target damage via its thorns may supplement popping of single-target blimps such as BADs, although still recommended to pair with other towers for the best results.
Tips[]
Placement matters in this game because the vines become more deadly the closer to the Druid.
Crosspathing doesn't matter too much, but is very useful. For specifically combatting DDTs, use 1-5-0 crosspath (2-5-0 is redundant, but not detrimental). Ideally, use 0-5-2 for the headstart for the vines, which is nice to have, and the extra damage thorns; just keep in mind to Alch buff or MIB buff it to damage DDTs.
When in a pinch, you can sell and rebuy this upgrade in order to get back up to full lives to survive sudden death.
If your opponent has this upgrade as the only feasible DDT countermeasure, rush at round 28 with FDDTs and boost it.
The currently viable use cases for the life-generation ability is to break out of Sudden Death. This is only really feasible if the player has about 24 or lives less difference between the opponent; any attempts to buy-and-resell for more lives will consume precious time that may become futile by an all-out rush by the opponent.

Patched
[1.0.6, discovered 1.0.6?] When given pierce buffs, a boosted Spirit of the Forest deals quadratic damage with its on-track vines the more bloons on screen there are. An example showcase of this bug was shown by ISAB's "So The Spirit Of The Forest Is A Little Bit Broken..." video, testing this exploit on a private match with the request that his opponent send an all-out rush, to which was dispatched quickly by Spirit of the Forest. Patched in Version 1.1.1.

The Druid’s life generating ability clashes with its Heart of Vengeance effect, so we have separated the life and cash giving abilities, allowing players to still earn cash while retaining the buff from having low lives. The ability’s cash gain was mistakenly giving less than the tier 4 ability so this has been rectified.

[undocumented] Spirit of the Forest's Jungle's Bounty ability now undergoes the normal initial cooldown regardless of status of ability cooldown from the prior upgrade
“
Like with Heli Pilot and Sniper, this nice quality of life change fits very well for Druid’s ability too. We’ve also shuffled some of the cash amounts to distinguish the tier 5 ability from the tier 4, so that it can have its own button space in the ability quickbar.
