0-0-3 Signal Flare

Signal Flare is the 3rd upgrade of Path 3 for the Mortar Monkey in Bloons TD Battles 2. Like its BTD6 counterpart, it decamos bloons, and its decamo blast is wider than the blast radius of each damaging explosion. It also applies napalm onto Black properties. Pierce of the decamo blast is 55, increased to 60 with 1-0-3. Blast radius of the decamo blast is 50, increased to 70 with 1-0-3. Like Cleansing Foam, pierce of the decamo blast can be consumed by non-Camo Bloons.

It costs $700.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

A cost-effective decamo option that has the advantage of global placement and micromanageability. The decamo blast is quite generous in size and pierce, although it is a little more expensive than Submerge and Support, yet cheaper than Shimmer with the benefit of Burny napalm damage to chip away at Bloons. Signal Flare gives Mortar a counter to Camo Bloons, as part of this explosive tower with additional bloon-busting upgrades such as Shell Shock and Artillery Battery.

Tips[]

  • 0-2-3 crosspath is recommended to decamo at focused spots quicker. 1-0-3 can work for bigger decamo blasts, but 2-0-3 isn't very necessary since the improved blasts and no change to napalm aren't really impactful for Signal Flare, and the pierce bonus to the decamo is too insignificant relative to the increased attack speed.
  • To distinguish a Burny Stuff from a Signal Flare, look for a red paintwork at the rim of the Mortar's barrel. Black gloves is also an easy way to distinguish, especially for Path 1 crosspath Signal Flares.
  • You will need two Signal Flares to decamo infinite Tight Camo Leads; a single Signal Flare can pierce-cap.

Mortar is another tower that has maintained a dominant presence in the meta for a while now. Similarly to Sub, we decreased the decamo pierce so that it can no longer be relied on as consistently. [...]
