Signal Flare is the third upgrade on the second path for the Mortar Tower in Bloons TD 5. It allows the Mortar Tower to detect and attack Camo Bloons while also stripping the camo property out of any bloon hit by the explosion. In Bloons TD 5, the Mortar Tower cannot target Camos without this upgrade. When a bloon is struck by this upgrade, the bloon loses its camo status, allowing any tower to freely attack it. In Bloons Monkey City, a perk from the Mortar Monkey's knowledge pack allows this upgrade to both drop the camo and regen property off bloons.
It costs $425 on Easy, $500 on Medium, $540 on Hard, and $600 on Impoppable. In Bloons Monkey City, it costs $750 normally and about $640 when favored.

Summary[]
Signal Flare both strips off camo and deals effective bloon damage. It is useful for decamoing various bloon types, especially groups of Camo Bloons, as well as valued mostly for popping Camo Leads reliably.
Tips[]
- Signal Flare can be used to strip off camo from dangerous Bloons, such as Camo Rainbow Bloons and Camo Ceramic Bloons.

- This upgrade in BTD5 uses the same artwork from the unupgraded Mortar Tower as its base.
- This upgrade was the only upgrade that removed Camo bloon status from bloons in BTD5, until the Monkey Engineer's Cleansing Foam upgrade in Bloons TD 5 Deluxe and the Monkey Sub's Submerge and Support upgrade and the Tier 4 upgrade for the Ice Fortress in Bloons TD 5 Mobile.
- It's the only 3rd Upgrade which is cheaper than the unupgraded Tower, unupgraded costing $750, Signal Flare costing $500.
- However, it costs the same as the unupgraded tower in Bloons Monkey City and Bloons TD Battles Mobile.
- In BMC, Signal Flare can remove camo from a DDT.
- A x/3 Mortar Tower costs more than a 3/x Monkey Engineer, but is more effective in some cases.
