Scoop's Tall Tale is a Story Quest in Bloons TD 6, added in Version 38.0. It involves three subquests consisting of a trio of synergetic monkeys (Dart Monkey, Alchemist, and Engineer Monkey), assisted by several Support Chinooks, handling many enhanced bloon rounds. It requires Level 60 to unlock. Upon completing the quest, the rewards are three pre-determined Insta-Monkeys (0-0-3 Dart, 3-0-0 Alch, 0-0-3 Engineer), and BloonjaminsIcon1,000.

  1. The first quest is set on Monkey Meadow.
  2. The second quest is set on a modified variation of Tree Stump with blocked off space on the stump and many more sight-blocking logs.
  3. The third and final quest is set on Chutes. Upon beating a number of rounds, a pre-placed 0-4-0 Tech Terror joins the fray.

Initial setup of Quest 1

Scoop will tell a story about an adventurous trio of monkeys. They need to hold off the Bloons while they wait for a Super Monkey to arrive.

Scoop: Once upon a time three monkeys from a small unnamed town were called upon by a Super Monkey.
Scoop: The Super Monkey knew that the Bloons were preparing to attack, and, despite his impressive speed, he would not be able to get there in time.
Scoop: The three brave monkeys would need to take the Chinooks and mount a defense at Monkey Meadow. It was their duty.
~ "Scoop's Tall Tale" Quest introduction

The first subquest plays Monkey Meadow on Medium Deflation with $250 starting cash and 15 lives. Abilities recharge at 50% of their normal rate. All Bloons and MOABs move at 80% of their normal speeds, and MOABs have 50% of their normal health. MK, Selling, Powers, and Continues are all disabled. Custom rounds 1-13 will be played.

Upon starting the game, a Dart Monkey, an Alchemist, and an Engineer Monkey, all 0-0-0, are pre-placed to the right side of the map and barely able to reach the track. Three 0-4-0 Heli Pilots, all locked in place on their heli pads, join in and are placed to the right of the three monkeys. The helis cannot be interacted with, unlike the three monkeys, but their Supply Crate and Redeploy abilities can be used. Two cones and three colorful fences are placed near the exit, but they are cosmetic.

The quest starts with Scoop explaining how the Chinooks dropped off the three monkeys at the scene, and the Engineer told everyone how those Chinooks could move them to better locations for defense.

Scoop: The Chinooks dropped them off just before the Bloons arrived. They had limited resources but were expecting cash to arrive every few rounds.
Scoop: "We must work as a team," the Engineer Monkey said to her friends. "The Chinooks can move us all to advantageous locations."
~ "Windswept Meadow" introduction

The player receives $1,000 after round 1.

The Dart Monkey was worried its attacks won't be powerful enough to stop the Bloons, so it asked the Alchemist for help. The player receives $2,000 after round 3.

Scoop: The first waves were defeated, but there was a sense of foreboding.
Scoop: "My crossbow isn't gonna cut it," the Dart Monkey said. "Alchemist? I think it's time for your brews."
~ Upon beating round 3

The player receives $2,000 after round 5.

The monkeys anticipated even stronger Bloons up to MOABs. The Engineer thinks two guns can beat them. The player receives $4,000 after round 9.

Scoop: Soon it became apparent that this wouldn't be a walk in the park. There were still Bloons incoming. With MOABs on the way!
Scoop: The Engineer checked her nail-gun. "Perhaps two will work," she muttered to herself.
~ Upon beating round 9

The player receives $2,000 after round 11.

Initial setup of Quest 3

The monkeys had successfully defended against the first Bloon attack, but the Bloons were headed to an ancient spring. The three brave monkeys were once again needed.

Scoop: The first Bloon attack had been thwarted, but the Super Monkey was still racing across the skies. More Bloons were on their way and the three brave monkeys knew their job wasn't finished.
Scoop: An ancient, culturally important spring was in danger and they didn't have much time. They would make their stand at the fallen tree and once again called upon the Chinooks.
Scoop: What will happen next!
~ "Windswept Meadow" completion

The second subquest plays Tree Stump on Medium Deflation with $500 starting cash and 15 lives. Abilities have 80% recharge rate. Bloons and MOABs move at 80% speed, MOABs have 90% health, and Regrow Bloons regrow at 90% speed. MK, Selling, Powers, and Continues are all disabled. Custom rounds 1-15 will be played.

Upon starting the game, the player is set on a modified version of Tree Stump with four more logs added to block Line of Sight, and a clump of five mushrooms sitting on a pile of leaves that prevent placement on top of the stump. The Dart Monkey, Alchemist, and Engineer Monkey start with 0-0-0 and are accompanied by three 0-4-0 Heli Pilots. Two cones and three colorful fences appear near the exit.

The monkeys noticed the logs were blocking most of their vision, so they gave the Alchemist a chance.

Scoop: The Chinooks got our three brave monkeys to the fallen tree just in time. But relief quickly changed to dismay.
Scoop: "The logs," the Engineer Monkey said. "We can barely see the track!"
Scoop: The Dart Monkey and Engineer Monkey looked to the Alchemist, who nodded, knowing it was their time to shine.
~ "Fallen Tree" introduction

The player receives $2,000 after round 1, $2,000 after round 3, and $4,000 after round 5.

Scoop: After rounds of struggling against the Bloons, the lull in intensity was unnerving. The Bloons would soon send the MOABs.
~ Upon beating round 8

The player receives $4,000 after round 9, $4,000 after round 11, and $4,000 after round 12.

Initial setup of Quest 3

After defeating the second Bloon attack, the Bloons turned towards the temple, and the three brave monkeys were called upon for the third time.

Scoop: They had done it! Or so they thought...
Scoop: Deep below ground was a powerful artifact and the Bloons had found a way to get there. A series of chutes that eventually lead to the heart of the temple. The three brave monkeys were needed once more.
~ "Fallen Tree" completion

The third subquest plays Chutes on Medium Deflation with $5,000 starting cash and 15 lives. Abilities have 30% recharge rate to account for the lone heli. Non-MOAB Bloons move at 80% speed. MK, Selling, Powers, and Continues are all disabled. Custom rounds 1-23 will be played.

Upon starting the game, the player is set on a modified version of Chutes with two 0-4-0 Chinooks sitting on some leaves, unable to move but blocking the entrance on the right, causing the Bloons to take the one path from the left. Only one 0-4-0 Heli Pilot remains available. The Dart Monkey, Alchemist, and Engineer Monkey start with 0-0-0. Two cones and three colorful fences appear near the exit.

Scoop: They managed to find a way below ground, and the flying skills of the Chinooks got them to the chutes where they would make their stand.
Scoop: But just as they got there, the Chinooks' flying skills ran out and two were caught in some vines, crash landing and removing themselves from the fight.
Scoop: The Engineer would have to hold off the first waves of the attack while the one remaining Chinook helped her friends.
~ "Quiet Temple" introduction

The player is given $2,000 after round 1, $4,000 after round 3, $4,000 after round 5, $6,000 after round 9, and $20,000 after round 13.

Scoop: The Bloons kept coming, and each wave was stronger than the last. Over the hubbub of battle, the three monkeys heard the Chinook's radio crackle.
Scoop: "I'm nearly there." It was the Super Monkey! "Hold on a little longer!"
~ Upon beating round 15

A 0-4-0 Super Monkey is placed after round 21. It is non-interactable outside of its ability.

Scoop: "What did I miss?" said the Super Monkey heroically. He was in Tech Terror form!
Scoop: "Maybe you didn't need me after all."
~ Upon beating round 22

Epilogue[]

Scoop: And that's the true story about a Dart Monkey, Alchemist, and Engineer Monkey. There are statues of them around the world, and every Thursday glasses of banana juice are raised in their honor.
~ Full completion of "Scoop's Tall Tale"

Scoop congratulates the player for beating the whole quest. Upon the first completion, the player can now access the chest, which unlocks an assortment of rewards:

  • Three Insta-Monkeys (0-0-3 Dart, 3-0-0 Alch, 0-0-3 Engineer)
  • BloonjaminsIcon1,000

Additional Quotes[]

If the player loses in a game, Scoop will narrate that the Bloons have won, but notices this part of the story wasn't correct. A different quote is said depending on the subquest.

Scoop: And then the Bloons... wait, that's not what happened.
~ Upon losing for the first time on "Windswept Meadow"

Scoop: And the ancient spring was destroyed... No, that's not right.
~ Upon losing for the first time on "Fallen Tree"

Scoop: And Monkey Civilization was razed to the ground. Hold on, something's gone wrong.
~ Upon losing for the first time on "Quiet Temple"

Strategy[]

General[]

  • Since the Chinooks themselves are not interactable outside of their Crate Abilities and Reposition Abilities, it may be helpful to try to force the Chinooks to do a little bit of defensive action as they move towers towards different locations.
  • Look for a synergetic arrangement of the Dart, Engineer, and Alchemist.
  • The Crate abilities don't give any cash, as the quests are set to Deflation rules, but they can still be useful for restoring lost lives.

Strategy (Quest 1)[]

  • Initial positions:
    • Move the Dart Monkey to the central land spot where it can see most of the track.
    • Move the Alchemist to where it can reach the Dart Monkey but away from the Engineer if possible.
    • Move the Engineer to the part of the track where it can see many parts of the track.
  • The best upgrades for the Dart Monkey is the Crossbow and Sharp Shooter.
    • Although Spike-o-pult can deal with crowds of Bloons easily, it struggles to dish out enough damage to stronger Camos. Even with Cleansing Foam added, both towers lack sufficient Ceramic cleanup ability from MOABs.
    • The Triple Shot can deal more overall damage with Alchemist buffs early on, but it loses out on being able to upgrade to a higher Ceramic/MOAB damage option for cheap (i.e. Sharp Shooter).
  • Use the Alchemist to pop Leads before you can afford Acidic Mixture Dip.
  • Contrary to what the quest dialogue may suggest, it may be better to upgrade the Engineer to 3-2-0 or 4-2-0 to assist with MOAB damage, or 3-0-2 or 4-0-2 for general popping.

Strategy (Quest 2)[]

  • Initial positions:
    • Move the Dart Monkey to the land spot between the bottom right track bend and the end of the track, and move the alchemist next to the Dart Monkey.
    • Move the Engineer to somewhere below the tree stump.
  • Recommended to use the same upgrades as before.

Strategy (Quest 3)[]

  • Since the Bloons only go on one lane, you only need to focus on that lane.
  • Time the Tech Terror ability to annihilate as many packed BFBs as possible. Don't wait for too long though, because the BFBs' children will push right through your defenses.

Trivia[]

  • Scoop's Tall Tale is the second released Story Quest in BTD6.
