Maelstrom ability, an example of rotational spray
Rotational Spray is as attack style characterized as constantly rotating its projectile dispensers so that each projectile never shoots in the same spot while the tower itself doesn't rotate. It was introduced in Bloons TD 5 with the introduction of the Tack Shooter's Blade Maelstrom upgrade.
Rotational Spray is represented on the Bloons Wiki as
, the upgrade icon for Blade Maelstrom in Bloons TD 6, as this is a pretty famous example of Rotational Spray.
Note that towers simply changing the degree that they are facing and then shooting is not an example of Rotational Spray as that tower is simply readjusting its direction so that its attack style can hit the bloon.
In Bloons TD 6, Blade Maelstrom, Super Maelstrom and Geraldo's Blade Trap are the only towers to utilize a rotational spray. Max from Bloons Adventure Time TD utilizes Rotational Spray with his Dartnado ability.
All attacks require an upgrade in order to have Rotational Spray.
In Bloons Super Monkey 2, there is a variant of Rotational Spray called Sine Spray, named after the projectiles being shot in a sine angle, with the rotation locked between 45 degrees instead of the full 360 degrees.
