~ Bloons TD 4 Description |
Ring of Fire is the final upgrade for the Tack Shooter in Bloons TD 4. It is a tier 4 upgrade unlocked at Rank 22. The Ring of Fire is effective against all types of bloons, but it cannot detect Camo Bloons without Sonar Beacon. It changes its attack style from a Spray attack patern to a Area of Effect
, popping bloons that touch it or come very close to it.
Purchasing the Ring of Fire renames the tower to "Fire Ring".
This upgrade costs $2125 on Easy, $2500 on Medium, and $2700 on Hard.
Mechanics[]
Ring of Fire exchanges its Orbital Spray from previous upgrades for a Zone Area of Effect
attack that affects nearly the entirety of its range, has 60 pierce, and attacks every 26 frames on flash (0.743s attack cooldown) or every 22 frames on mobile (0.37s attack cooldown). Fire rings last 8 frames on flash (0.229s), with a similar duration on mobile, allowing it to damage bloons that enter its radius a few moments after its attack is fired.
In addition, purchasing this upgrade changes the tower's name from Blade Shooter to Fire Ring.
Targeting Priorities[]
Ring of Fire shoots fire rings in a zone-like style. If the fire ring is pierce capped, it will target bloons sporadically. In addition, in the flash version, despite gaining Frozen-Popping Power, it is unable to attack if there are only Frozen Bloons in range, but it can target them in the mobile version.
BTD4 Mobile[]
In BTD4 Mobile, the Ring of Fire is greatly improved from its flash iteration. Instead of firing every 0.74 seconds, it fires every 0.37 seconds instead, doubling its attack speed relative to the flash version. Despite the visuals depicting 8 streams of flame instead of 1 singular ring, Ring of Fire functions just like the flash version, dealing 1 damage per attack to 60 bloons in the Ring of Fire's range.
Strategy[]
Summary[]
The Ring of Fire fires faster than a Tack Shooter, and changes from a Spray attack patern to a Area of Effect
attack pattern. Unlike most towers, Ring of Fire has 60 pierce and is thus well suited to handling mass swarms of bloons. Although not the most effective against MOABss, they still do deal some damage to them in the flash version due to how projectiles with extra pierce can damage the same bloon multiple times. In the Mobile version, they do not do well at all. They usually do not perform too well when facing packed MOABs.
Tips[]
- This upgrade is powerful for shutting down bloon rushes, because of its high pierce. Having a few Ring of Fires can stop swarms of bloons from overwhelming a defense.
- In the Mobile version, this upgrade attacks far faster, making it a much more consistent option to handle rushes compared with the flash version.
- Combining it with an Ice Tower (BTD4) is greatly beneficial for cleaning up swarms of frozen bloons. Similarly, combining it with MOAB Mauler (BTD4) provides a synergistic combo, as Ring of Fire excels against normal bloons while the MOAB Mauler handles MOABs very cost effectively.

Trivia[]
- Ring of Fire (BTD5)'s attack speed resembles BTD4 Mobile Ring of Fire's attack speed instead of the Flash variant, as it attacks every 0.33s in BTD5, while it attacks every 0.37s in BTD4 Mobile.
