Red Bloons moving at a constant speed alongside the in-Game timer on the Four Circles Map

Red Bloon Seconds or RBS is the length one Red Bloon will travel in one second on Medium difficulty, unaffected by fast forward or any speed modifiers other than those naturally bestowed by the track. This unit is an accurate measurement of track length in the BTD series due to being independent of screen-size and resolution. 1 RBS is equivalent to approximately 27.5 Range Units in Bloons TD 6.

For example, the BTD6 map Skates has 43 RBS, meaning it takes 43 seconds for a red bloon to pass through the track.

Measuring RBS[]

If a player desires to quickly obtain the length of a track themselves, they may use a stopwatch to measure the time it takes for one Red Bloon to cross the track in medium mode. However, most tracks will already have an RBS length listed on their respective wiki page. These values were obtained using the following steps to eliminate sources of errors arising from vision obstructions at the front of the track, discrepancies in pressing the stopwatch, and device lag. (Not all will be possible in games prior to Bloons TD 6).

Ensure all testing is done on Medium mode, with no Fast-Forwarding, pausing, or Monkey Knowledge enabled.

Single Track Maps[]

  1. Open Challenge Editor and select the desired map, set the Round to 1, Difficulty to Medium, Game Mode to Standard, and Bloon Speed to 50% (This will increase precision).
  2. Enter the challenge, start a screen recording software, and send Round 1.
  3. Once one Red Bloon has left the map, end the screen recording.
  4. Now, view the screen recording and take the time-stamp of the frame where the Start Round button was pressed.
  5. Then, take the time stamp of the first frame where 1 life is deducted.
  6. Subtract these time-stamps (Make sure to convert minutes to seconds).
  7. Divide this value by 2, to get the RBS.
  8. To ensure that device speed is not interfering with the measurement, go into the Four Circles map, and use the same-screen recording software to measure the amount of time it takes for one second to pass on the in-game timer. In the case that the 1-second interval of the screen-recording software and in-game clock do not match up, divide the In Game Time Passage by the Screen Recorder Time Passage and multiply this by the RBS value in step 7 to get the true Map Length.

Multi-Track Maps[]

  1. Open Sandbox Mode on Medium Difficulty in the desired map.
  2. Begin screen recording and set the Round to 1.
  3. Do not send the round, but rather click the Red Bloon icon to send 1 Red Bloon.
  4. Let the Red Bloon escape and deduct 1 life.
  5. Now, repeat steps 3 and 4 until 1 Red Bloon has crossed each track/path.
  6. If Bloons are not crossing certain tracks, increase the round until Bloons cross those tracks and repeat steps 3-5.
  7. After all tracks have been traversed by Red Bloons, end the screen recording.
  8. Take the timestamp of the last frame where the Red Bloon icon is pressed.
  9. Take the timestamp of the first frame where 1 life is deducted for that Red Bloon.
  10. Subtract these time-stamps to get the RBS (Make sure to convert minutes to seconds).
  11. Repeat steps 8-10 for each track.
  12.
