Play With Fire is a gamemode added in Bloons TD Battles 2. It was first added on the Version 1.4.0 update, and first released on 22nd July 2022, 16 days after the update, and coincides with the mini-update Version 1.4.1. On this game mode, bloons are sent on both sides in exchange for a +100% eco multiplier per bloon send. Eco-positive bloon sends reward +100% eco, while eco-negative bloon sends penalize +100% eco. In addition, using Bloon Boost will affect both sides.
Strategy[]

Summary[]
Build a defense that defends large quantities of bloons while also generating maximum eco from the sent bloons. Eco is dominant on this game mode, so make full use of the bloon sends you are provided to max out eco (via rapid eco generation, capable of increasing with Monkeyopolis) and scoop up money from income-per-pop sources (especially Bloon Trap and Lead to Gold). Because bloons are sent on both sides, make sure your side of the defense is fully secured first before considering making a move against your enemy; these bloons can also be used to benefit or worsen your own side too depending on how they are handled.
Tips[]
- To make the most of the bloon sends in this game mode, always have at least one tower that has an "eco enhancer", and use it in the tower loadout. Most of these options can be used to take advantage of increasing income from bloon pops, while only Monkeyopolis is capable of directly increasing eco.
- Use a cheap grouped option to counter the early-game before setting up a consistent flow of eco sends. Example towers capable of this include Mortar Monkey, Dartling Gunner's Powerful Darts, Ice Monkey, and ordinary Captain Churchill.
- The eco send that grants the highest rate of eco gain per second is Grouped Purples. However, this is one of the fastest eco-positive sends to drain enormous amounts of cash. It takes about ~$10,000 before Grouped Purple spam no longer depletes more cash than can be spent.
- Choose a hero who can make the most of the buffing potential of very expensive tower options. Strong examples include Biker Bones (Bombs and Mortars) and Ocean Obyn (especially Supers).
- On long maps such as Mayan or Ports, it is very easy to get to late-game under the right hands. Experts of the game are advised to avoid these maps if possible, to avoid spending long periods on a potential stalemate in case both players choose a meta Play With Fire loadout.
