Plasma Blasts (also known as Plasma Monkey) is the second upgrade of Path 1 for the Super Monkey in Bloons TD Battles 2. When compared to its BTD6 counterpart, it retains bonus pierce benefits but grants only +50% attack speed. Plasma Blasts increases Super Monkey's attack speed by +50% and lets it pop Leads, but in this game it still keeps the +1 pierce benefit. Each plasma ball pops up to 3 bloons by default, and the base attack cooldown is 0.03s.
Plasma Blasts adds a pair of large plasma goggles, covering much of Super Monkey's forehead. The pair of goggles has three lenses, with the third lense located at his forehead. The lenses of his goggles do not correspond to his eyes. In the official artwork, the Plasma Blasts Super Monkey still smiles.
Strategy[]
Summary[]
Plasma Blasts dramatically increases the overall performance of the Super Monkey with its double attack speed and +1 pierce. It is capable of dealing overall large damage versus bloons and MOABs. It is undeniably the most favorable crosspath choice for Super Monkey upgrades along Upper Path 2 (Robo Monkey and above) and Upper Path 3 (Dark Knight and above), unless for camo detection (Upper Path 2) or extra Darkshift range for Dark Knight (note that Dark Champion already has infinite Darkshift range).
Tips[]
This upgrade proves to be extremely effective for Super Monkey because the significant attack speed bonus for an already fast-attacking Super Monkey is incredibly useful for pretty much any upgrade, including further upgrades after Plasma Blasts, such as Sun Avatar.

“
We have made significant adjustments to a lot of Super Monkey’s upgrades, as we feel like Super Monkey is not and has never been properly balanced for this game. While its main strength is its late game and we want to keep it that way, we do not think it should be to the extent where it has almost no use in the early/mid game. Therefore, we are making some pretty big price cuts to the early tiers, while adjusting the tier 3s to balance out these price cuts so that they don’t become too strong. A lot of the higher tiers have either been too expensive or too inefficient to have any practical use in ranked matches, and we want to change that. [...]

Plasma Blasts in an upgrade that rarely gets used on its own (usually just used as a crosspath), so we’ve lowered its cost while adjusting 3xx and xx3 so that their total cost remains unchanged. [...]
