For other uses of "plasma", see Plasma Vision (disambiguation).

Plasma is a damage type introduced in Bloons Super Monkey 2 and its mobile counterpart (and later Bloons TD 6). While plasma-based attacks have appeared since Bloons TD 3, Plasma damage has not been separate from Normal until BSM2 (Mobile) and Bloons TD 6. Plasma is defined as the damage type able to pop every type of bloon except Glass Bloons and Purple Bloons. The Bloons Wiki represents this damage type with Plasma Type (pops Black, White, Lead, Frozen), the upgrade icon for the Plasma Blasts. Plasma was effectively the same as Normal Normal Type (pops Black, White, Purple, Lead, Frozen) except in BSM2 (Mobile) and Bloons TD 6 generation games, where it has weaknesses to Glass Bloons and Purple Bloons, respectively.

The wiki also recognizes the Fire damage type, since Bloons Adventure Time TD explicitly labels Flame Princess's fiery attacks as such. There is, so far, no difference between Fire and Plasma outside of cosmetics and origin. Fire is represented with Fire Type (pops Black, White, Lead, Frozen), the upgrade icon for Dragon's Breath. Fire-based attacks before the BTD6 generation (such as BTD5 Burny Stuff's napalm and Sun Blast) do not use the Fire damage type and instead use the Normal damage type (or Magic for Magic upgrades in BSM2 (Mobile), which has a weakness to Ceramic Bloons), whereas the Plasma damage type exists in the form of Tech/Energy weapons, Storm Arm weapons, and Robot's attacks.

Normally, towers with the Plasma damage type traditionally attributed to Plasma Vision / Plasma Blasts. The BTD5 Monkey Apprentice can also pop Leads and Frozen, and as such could theoretically be Plasma type, although the BTD6 Wizard Monkey is Energy Energy Type (pops Black, White, Frozen) because it doesn't naturally pop Lead. In Bloons TD 6, other tower types with Plasma type include: Arcane Spike, Obyn Greenfoot's wolf spirits, Adora's lightbeams, Plasma Accelerator, and Heart of Thunder's lightning bolts.

Towers with this damage type may be helpful against DDTs, which are lead and explosion-resistant MOAB-Class Bloons. They may also be super-effective popping power against many types of non-MOAB-class Bloons, since those bloons are more likely to possess immunities to other damage types.
