Tsar Bomba popping open a ZOMG into multiple MOABs, as its ability happened to do enough damage to pop both the ZOMG layer and the BFB layers in one go
Penetrates Blimp is an attack behavior characterized by being able to penetrate through MOAB-Class Bloons. It is part of the damage types family. Only a few attacks can Penetrate Blimps, as most attacks do not have this by default in Bloons TD 6.
Penetrates Blimp is represented on Bloons Wiki as
, the upgrade icon for Ground Zero in Bloons TD 6, because it is among the few non-instakill upgrades in the game that can penetrate MOAB-class bloons. Penetrates Blimp is purely a unique property, often going hand-in-hand with all MOAB-class instakills (MOAB-class instakills are marked with Instakill Blimp
) or all methods of MOAB-class defortification (MOAB-class defortification is marked as the blimp variant of Defortify
). All attacks that inflict Trojan
status effect also can do this too.
Very few towers possess Penetrates Blimp. The list of the upgrades in Bloons TD 6 that can do so are as follows:
- MOAB Assassin's and MOAB Eliminator's abilities (Version 37.0)
- Ground Zero
- Tsar Bomba
- Tech Terror
- The Anti-Bloon
- Bomb Blitz's passive ability
- Monkey Pirates
- Pirate Lord
- XXXL Trap
- Legend of the Night's passive ability
- Bloon Master Alchemist
- Benjamin's Bloon Trojan (uses Trojan
status effect) - Ezili's MOAB Hex (uses MOAB Hex
and Trojan
status effects) - Shattering Shells' and Blooncineration's defortification of MOAB-class
- Psi's Level 14+ psychic attack and Psionic Scream ability
- Ascended Shadow's Sticky Bomb attack
- Super Mines's timed-out explosions
- Goliath Doomship's Carpet Bomb ability
- First Strike Capability and Final Strike
- Tyrannosaurus Rex and Giganotosaurus at max level (Version 37.0)
- Corvus's Overload spell (Version 40.1)
Rubber to Gold has a unique interaction with attacks that penetrate blimps. If a blimp has been affected by Rubber to Gold and multiple layers are destroyed at once, all popped layers will be considered to have the Rubber to Gold effect, despite not normally affecting multiple blimp layers. Therefore, it is recommended to use attacks that penetrate blimps (as well as Instakills) in later rounds in order to maximize cash from Rubber to Gold.
By default, most upgrades do not possess the Penetrates Blimp property. More importantly is said for MOAB Glue (even with Glue Soak), Bloon Sabotage and Grand Saboteur abilities, Admiral Brickell's Mega Mines, Pre-Emptive Strike's passive ability, Glue Strike and Glue Storm abilities, Snowstorm and Absolute Zero abilities, The Bloon Solver, Unstable Concoction explosions, and Sauda's Sword Charge.
All attacks require an upgrade to inflict Penetrates Blimp.
In Bloons TD 5, Sniper Monkey attacks and the MOAB Assassin ability both Penetrate Blimps. Bloons TD 6 however removed their abilities to do so.
In Bloons Monkey City Flash, DDTs are immune to Ground Zero's usual ability to Penetrate Blimps, always dropping its full-health ceramic children regardless of the DDT's health before the use of Ground Zero.
Bloons TD 6 added many more options to soak through MOAB-class layers, and in Version 37.0 added this to many more pre-existing towers other than First Strike Capability's ability missile.
Bloons TD Battles 2 removed the capability for the Bloon Sabotage ability to soak its slowdown through blimp layers.
