No Pain, No Gain rules

No Pain, No Gain is a gamemode added in Bloons TD Battles 2. It was first added on the Version 1.9.0 update, and became available in the Event Theatre two weeks after the initial release of the update. In this game mode, all towers, heroes, and Bloon Sends, begin at double their original price. Upon losing lives, they become ~0.8725% cheaper per life lost, down to 70% of the original price at 1 life.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

The aim of this game mode is to leak as many lives as possible, allowing an advantage with money savings. Take a similar approach that one may use for Heart of Vengeance strategies, which is to aim for a deliberate amount of life loss to gain a big advantage. During the first few rounds, do a minimal defense while trying to barely stay above only a few lives. Alternatively, deliberately lose lives elsewhere (such as Ezili's Sacrificial Totem) to get a similar advantage.

Tips[]

  • Try to use towers that are controllable, such as Dartling Gunner, to deliberately control when to attack or not. This can help control the number of lives lost.
  • At very low lives, one can use income generators such as Banana Farms or Merchantmen to get a steady lead in income.
  • Tack is a great starting tower, with fairly cheap group-popping and spaced-popping. However, it doesn't quite scale so well in the late-game.
  • Contrary to the nature of this game mode, using Heart of Vengeance is an incredibly risky choice for the early-game, since a single Heart of Vengeance Druid can't reliably beat Grouped Reds without sacrificing doing constant eco sends oneself, due to insufficient funds for affording both defense and offense.
  • Be careful to use towers that can rejuvenate lives, as it will increase prices back up. This includes using Support Chinooks for income, and Spirit of the Forest's Spirit's Life ability. These may only be used to get a life advantage should a game last to Sudden Death.
    • For Heroes, Both Benjamin and his alt, and Smudge Catt Ezili are not recommended, as they can rejuvenate lives and increase prices, although these heroes may be sold right before they reach their respective level where they would start to rejuvenate lives.
