Bloons Wiki

The greatest thing ever to float on water.
~ In-game Upgrade Description

The Navarch of the Seas is the Paragon of the Monkey Buccaneer, added to Bloons TD 6 in the 29.0 update. Combining major features from the Carrier Flagship, Pirate Lord, and Trade Empire, the Navarch of the Seas is armed with 6 independently-aiming triple-turrets, each of which fires 3 explosive rounds and 10 arrowhead-shaped grapes per shot. On the deck of the vessel, there are 6 kinetic grappling hooks that automatically take down MOAB-class bloons of ZOMG strength and below every 0.6s. These shoot 10 times before entering a 10 second cooldown period (a ZOMG uses 2 hooks). In addition, the ship's runway launches 3 high-tech fighter jets which which rapidly fire darts, as well as 4 seeking missiles every 10 shots. For its activated ability, the Navarch of the Seas shoots a grappling hook which takes down the strongest MOAB-Class Bloon on screen, including BADs. The ability can be used twice per round (more with selling and rebuying) and does not affect Boss Bloons. All of these attacks are affected by Monkey Knowledge (except Big Bunch) and deal heavy damage to all bloon types, including camo, with bonus damage to MOAB-Class Bloons and Boss Bloons.

The Navarch of the Seas also comes with non-offensive utilities, including a $3200 end-of-round bonus ($3220 with Trade Empire Monkey Knowledge), the bonus sellback on nearby towers from Favored Trades, and two landing pads which are each able to accomodate one medium-sized tower. The vessel also provides the buffs supplied by the Trade Empire and Carrier Flagship to all applicable towers. Currently, the Trade Empire buff stacks with the Trade Empire tower and gives a stronger damage bonus.

The Navarch of the Seas is obtained by having one of each tier 5 Monkey Buccaneer and purchasing the Paragon upgrade, which subsequently consumes all Monkey Buccaneers on screen. The Degree of the Navarch of the Seas ranges from 1-100 and is determined by total cost, pop count, bonus income, upgrades, and number of Monkey Buccaneers sacrificed as explained here. As with all Paragons, the Navarch of the Seas cannot receive buffs from any external sources (aside from the bloon debuffing status effects of Cripple MOAB, Glue Storm, and Super Brittle).[1] Additionally, the Navarch of the Seas is unobtainable in Sandbox Mode but can be created in Challenge Editor.

It costs $425,000 on Easy, $500,000 on Medium, $540,000 on Hard, and $600,000 on Impoppable.

Description[]

Appearance[]

Navarch of the Seas pictured next to all three tier-5 Monkey Buccaneers

The Navarch of the Seas is an opulent, fervently-animated pirate in command of a futuristic aircraft carrier and fighter jet arsenal. The commander himself dons a spiky gray beard, gold tooth, eyepatch, pegged cane, white military admiral's uniform, and orange sailor's jacket with gold shoulder trimmings and cap with a skull symbol. The portrait shows the Navarch wearing black pants, but the placed tower does not show him wearing any shoes.

The ship is a technologically advanced aircraft carrier accented in orange and white, featuring a large central runway and two "M" monkey helipad platforms illuminated in green. Beneath the bridge is the launch platform, which is shaped like a cat's face. The eyes are two teal windows that light up when the Navarch is not firing grappling hooks. On the deck of the ship are 6 ports for MOAB takedowns, which launch teal, energized grappling ropes with a mechanical claw attached. This claw is displayed in both the upgrade icon and ability icon. At the base of each grappling hook are two superimposed triangles which rotate in opposite directions. These harpoon features become red during the activated ability. Whenever the Navarch takes down a blimp, a plume of green smoke in the shape of a skull ascends when the takedown is complete. Mounted on the bottom of the ship are 6 triple turrets (3 on each side) that fire arrowhead-shaped grape shots and orange explosive canisters which leave behind glowing teal and airbust-dart style streaks respectively.

The jets are two-pronged, futuristic aircraft that have orange and teal accents. The main cockpit resembles a single large green crystal. The jets' dart and missile projectiles are identical to those used by the Aircraft Carrier, Carrier Flagship, and Monkey Ace seeking missiles.

The Navarch himself has comparatively few animations. The captain's jacket will constantly billow in the wind and the captain will occassionally look to either side, grovel his fist, or tap his cane on the ground.

Every 20 degrees, the Navarch of the Seas gains a more geometrically sharp appearance, with additional armor plating and more glowing lights being added to the ship and the coat, hat and eyepatch of the captain becoming more elaborate. The planes and projectiles do not change with degree.

Compared to other Paragons, the Navarch of the Seas's design and function incorporates a very wide and disjoint set of constituent tier-5 themes (military, pirates, and global trade). The military theme dominates the overall look of the ship, with the main ship, guns, and jets deriving from the Carrier Flagship. The captain's appearance and the ship's grappling hooks are directly influenced by the Pirate Lord. However, the Trade Empire has little visual presence in the Navarch of the Seas, aside from the end-of round-bonus and orange accents. Here, the word "Navarch" is derived from the Greek word for "Leader of the Seas."

Targeting Priorities[]

Navarch of the Seas targets bloons using the standard targeting priorities. It has multiple types of attacks that are shot in different styles.

  • First: Targets the first bloon visible within its range.
  • Last: Targets the last bloon visible within its range.
  • Close: Targets the closest bloon visible within its range.
  • Strong: Targets the strongest bloon visible within its range.

Navarch of the Seas has multiple types of attacks that interact with Targeting Priorities in various ways, which cannot simply be explained in a single paragraph:

  • Navarch of the Seas has 6 separate independently targeting multi-barreled turrets that each shoot both canisters and grapeshots. Each grapeshot and canister is shot in a straight movement. Each multi-barreled turret can only rotate up to 90 degrees either side from where it is placed and was initially pointing. Its rotational range depends on where each of the multi-barreled turrets were initially placed and pointing on the Navarch ship when first bought.
  • Navarch Planes fly towards nearby bloons in a flight pattern that tends to follow them down the track.
  • Darts from Navarch Planes are shot in a straight movement with no homing, and use targeting priority based on the Navarch of the Seas.
  • Anti-MOAB missiles from Navarch Planes are shot in a straight movement, weakly seek, only targets MOAB-class bloons, and is locked on Strong.
  • All hooks including those from the passive and activated abilities are locked on Strong and only target MOAB-class bloons. All hooks can target blimps below BAD, but only the activated ability hooks can target BADs. None of them can target Boss Bloons.
  • Navarch's end-of-round cash is spawned cash gain, and has no interaction with targeting priorities.
  • Navarch's buffs affect the whole screen, and buff the respective towers that it benefits. The Carrier buff affects all water monkeys and Monkey Aces but does not stack with Carrier Flagship's buff. The Trade Strength buff works just like duplicate but much stronger second Trade Empire buff, affecting all Upper Path 3 Buccaneers.

Despite being able to detect Camo Bloons naturally, Navarch of the Seas does not have the Camo Prioritization targeting priority.

Creating the Navarch of the Seas[]

A base Navarch of the Seas can be created by having one of each Tier 5 Monkey Buccaneer on screen, at which point, the upgrade icon for the Navarch of the Seas will become available on any of the tier 5 Monkey Buccaneers. Purchasing the upgrade will change the selected Monkey Buccaneer into the Navarch of the Seas, while sacrificing every other Monkey Buccaneer on screen (including those belonging to co-op players). Only one Navarch of the Seas may exist at a time, even in co-op.

Degree Requirements and Statistics[]

In addition to cosmetic changes every 20 degrees, increasing degrees will elevate the damage output of the Navarch of the Seas. The degree is dependent upon total pop count and money generated, number of tier 5 upgrades, non-tier 5 upgrades, cost, and number of sacrificed monkey bucaneers as discussed here.

The approximate power levels for 20 degree increments are listed alongside the associated damage statistics and some general guidelines on which sacrificial investments to make.

Degree 1 (Base)[]

  • 60 Fan-shaped Range for turret attacks. Affected by Line of Sight. (constant for all degrees)
  • Infinite Range for Harpoon ability and attacks. Unaffected by Line of Sight. (constant for all degrees)
  • Infinite Range for Fighter Plane Attacks. Unaffected by Line of Sight. (constant for all degrees)
  • Same footprint as a base Monkey Buccaneer. (constant for all degrees)
  • 2 Monkey Platforms which can accomodate medium sized towers. Height is not elevated. See "Behavior and Interactions" below for full list. (constant for all degrees)
  • $3200 ($3220 with Trade Agreements MK) End of Round Bonus. (constant for all degrees)
  • Trade Empire Buff: Increases the cash earned by path Merchantmen (x-x-3) and Favored Trades (x-x-4) Monkey Buccaneers by $20 times the number of Merchantmen on screen (capped at 20 Merchantmen). In addition, all Merchantmen and Favored Trades gain +10 base damage, and +10 Ceramic and MOAB Damage. Both of these stack with Trade Empire buff, however there is potentially bugged behavior here that is further worth investigating (constant for all degrees)
  • Carrier Flagship Buff: All water-based towers (Monkey Buccaneers, Monkey Subs, Admiral Brickell, water-placed Pat Fusty, or water-placed Sun Temple and its upgrades) and Monkey Aces attack 17.65% faster. Does not stack with the actual Carrier Flagship tower buff. (constant for all degrees)
  • Favored Trades Bonus Sellback: Towers in range will sell for 80% of original value as opposed to 70%. Does not stack with other Favored Trades. (constant for all degrees)
  • Turrets: Fires 3 explosive canisters and 10 grape shots every 0.429 seconds.
    • Main Canister: 60 damage, 120 MOAB damage, 180 Boss Bloon damage, 360 Elite Boss damage, 28 pierce, 40 blast radius.
    • Grape Shots: 25 damage, 55 MOAB damage, 85 Boss Bloon damage, 170 Elite Boss damage, 10 pierce.
  • Fighter Planes: Fires darts and groups of four MOAB missiles. Darts aim independently of flight path.
    • Darts: 44 damage, 88 Boss Bloon damage, 176 Elite Boss damage, 14 pierce. Fires every 0.15 seconds.
    • MOAB Missiles: 200 MOAB damage, 400 Boss Bloon damage, 800 Elite Boss damage, 10 pierce, 30 blast radius. Fires every 1.5 seconds.
  • Automatic Harpoon: Passive ability. Grapples MOABs, BFBs, ZOMGs, DDTs every 1.0s. It takes two harpoons for a ZOMG. There is a 10 second cooldown once the final blimps is taken down. (constant for all degrees)
  • Activated Harpoon: Grapples and destroys the strongest MOAB-Class Bloon, including BADs. Does not affect Boss Bloons or Lych-Soul Awards no bonus income. Refreshes every 20 seconds. Limited to 2 uses per round (unlimited with selling and rebuying).
  • Recommended Sacrifices: 1 Carrier Flagship, 1 Pirate Lord, 1 Trade Empire needed. (constant for all degrees)

Degree 20[]

  • Turrets: Fires every 0.328 seconds.
    • Main Canister: 72.4 damage, 143.8 MOAB damage, 272.52 Boss Bloon damage, 545.04 Elite Boss damage, 52.32 pierce.
    • Grape Shots: 30.75 damage, 66.45 MOAB damage, 129.72 Boss Bloon damage, 259.44 Elite Boss damage, 30.9 pierce.

Troubleshooting[]

See Paragons:Troubleshooting

Behavior and Interactions[]

Like other Paragons, the Navarch of the Seas will ignore most tower interactions, such as buffs, discounts, and redeployment as detailed here. However, there are a few noteworthy points of the tower's behavior to consider:

  • Turrets and Fighter Plane darts will obey the set target priority, while the Missiles and Harpoons are locked to Strong.
  • Passive MOAB takedown will prioritize the first blimp on screen (or strongest? farthest? bloon on screen).
  • Which MK will affect the Navarch?
  • If a Carrier Flagship is chosen for the location of the Navarch of the Seas, any towers placed on it will reappear on the Paragon, including other Paragons.
  • Navarch of the Seas' bonus sellback buff does not stack with Favored Trades.
  • Navarch of the Seas' Trade Empire buff is indeed unique, as x/x/3+ Buccaneers gain +10 damage to all attacks and +10 damage to Ceramics and MOABs rather than Trade Empire's +1. As the two buffs are considered different, generating bonus cash stacking should be intended as well.
  • Can be linked to a Tech Bot, as well as set ambush, which is granted by monkey knowledge.
  • All blimp instakills via its automatic or activated M.O.A.B. Takedown ability will count towards the Hook, Line, and Sinker achievement.
  • Monkeys which can be placed on platform: Dart Monkey, Boomerang Monkey, Tack Shooter, Bomb Shooter, Ice Monkey, Glue Gunner, Sniper Monkey, Dartling Gunner, Wizard Monkey, Ninja Monkey, Alchemist, Wizard Monkey, Druid, Engineer, Heroes (except Churchill, Pat, and Brickell).
  • Ice Platform Interactions.

Summary[]

The Navarch of the Seas combines elements from the Carrier Flagship, Pirate Lord, and Trade Empire to unleash a wide arsenal of turrets, fighter jets, explosives, and income bonuses. However, its most important weapons are the harpoon attacks and ability which can deal percentage based damage to Blimps regardless of health. As a result, the main utility of this Paragon is providing high levels of damage to MOABs and Boss Bloons. Its main weakness is its enormous cost and tedious setup process, especially due to limited availability of water for Buccaneer placement. As such, the main use case for the Navarch of the Seas is Boss Bloon and most Late Game defenses.

During Boss Fights obtain as high a degree Navarch of the Seas as possible. Recall that a max degree Paragon can be achieved by by having 16,200,000 pops, $250,000 spent (excluding the base three tier-5 Monkey Buccaneers), 100 tier 1-4 upgrades, and 9 (4 in single player) tier 5 upgrades among the sacrificial Monkey Buccaneers. Additionally, every $1 generated counts for 4 pops, allowing the pop threshold to be more easily achieved. Currently, the Navarch of the Seas is the most powerful Paragon in the game, so prioritize its creation and degree maximization over the other Paragons and towers. Doing so will trivialize the 3rd and 4th tier Boss Bloons.

For both general late game and Boss Fight usage, place the Navarch of the Seas in water that allows as many of its six turrets to fire on Bloons for as long a duration possible. These turrets will provide the bulk of the tower's ranged damage. However, the Harpoon passive and activated abilities will be the most useful as they will greatly accelerate the destruction of high-health ZOMGs and BADs.

Tips[]

  • Even though Paragons cannot be buffed directly, it is worth giving the Navarch of the Seas support with any type of Debuff status effect (e.g. Cripple MOAB, Super Brittle, Glue Storm).
  • Since the Navarch's instakilling abilities counts toward Hook, Line, and Sinker, the achievement can be reasonably completed in two games.
  • Energizer does not affect the cooldown for Navarch's activated ability.
  • 4-2-0 Aircraft Carrier is the most expensive non-Tier 5 Buccaneer able to be sacrificed. However, mixing them and 0-2-4 Favored Trades is generally better for building up a solid income first, unless there is limited water space, such as on Logs.
    • On water-heavy maps like Spice Islands it is better to have the Trade Empire with 20 Favored Trades plus occupying other space for Aircraft Carriers. The income that higher-tier Path 3 boats provide will also count towards the sum of pops across all Buccaneers.
  • If Powers are enabled, Portable Lakes add more space for additional Buccaneers, or simply to enable the option to get a Navarch of the Seas; even a Degree 1 is entirely possible within the space of one Portable Lake.

Version History[]

29.0
  • The Navarch of the Seas was added.
30.0
Some parts of the new Buccaneer paragon were balanced more around a Degree 100 level without properly scaling, so we have fixed up some of this to better fit scaling up to 100 reaching those values, and moved the ability for it and any possible future paragons to also scale in cooldown based on the Degree.
~ Ninja Kiwi
  • Buff Navarch activated ability cooldown will now increase rate in a similar formula to attack speed
  • Nerf Navarch passive grapple hook rate: 0.02s -> 0.06s
  • Nerf Navarch active grapple hook cooldown: 20s -> 30s

Bugs[]

Current
  • [29.0] After creating a paragon, and then undoing it (by going back to the main screen before the end of the round), the Navarch of the Seas will place a non-paragon tower beside it.
  • [29.0] If there is already a tower placed on the left pad by itself, then going back to the main menu screen and back again, it will move to the right pad.
  • [29.0] Navarch of the Seas' mini-planes are affected by Homeland Defense. It is likely because they are coded the same way as normal Carrier Flagship Planes. This can be indicated by the amount of explosions caused by the MOAB Missiles.
  • [29.0] Re-entering a game with towers placed onto the Navarch's pads will freeze the supported towers, making them unable to attack, but still use their idle animation.
  • [29.0] The positions of the support platforms are rotated based on the rotation of the Buccaneer being upgraded to the Navarch.
Patched
  • [29.3] Attempting to sacrifice a buccaneer on a Portable Lake will crash the game instead. Discovered on 29.0.

Teasers[]

The Monkey Buccaneer Paragon (Navarch of the Seas), as teased on Social Media.

On 4th December 2021, Ninja Kiwi teased the Monkey Buccaneer Paragon on their Twitter. It was later released in the 29.0 update, and later revealed to be the Navarch of the Seas.

Quotes[]

  • New Paragon Tower: Navarch of the Seas!
    • Bringing all 3 paths together under the command of a sharply dressed, market-savvy, pirate-code-adhering military arch-commander. No need for a bigger boat here.
    • We enjoyed bringing Navarch into the mix as it covers both military category and water-heavy maps. With an emphasis on boat farming, destroyer spam for early rounds, and pop farming with active use of hooks it makes it a very different and fun road to Paragon. Portable Lake spam in non-ranked games has also led to some good laughs.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first Military Monkey Paragon to be announced.
  • This is the first water-based paragon to be announced.
  • This is the first Paragon with an activated ability.
  • Navarch of the Seas is the first Paragon that generates income. It is also the first Paragon whose constituent towers have an option for generating income (that being Merchantman and above).
  • It was initially revealed here on December 3rd.
  • This is the third tower capable of dealing percentage based damage to a BAD Bloon regardless of its health (In this case the percentage is 100%/insta killing the BAD bloon). The first tower is the Legend of the Night, and the second is Ezili with her Level 20 MOAB Hex ability.
  • Despite having 6 fighter jets in the artwork, the in-game Navarch only has 3.
  • When creating a Navarch of the Seas, the main body of the ship will spawn in first alongside the top right turret. Strangely, the other 5 turrets spawn in a few frames later.
  • Fans have created aerodynamic models of the fighter plane on Kerbal Space Program. Simulations show that these aircraft are very poorly optimized for air resistance. Source: https://kerbalx.com/ohutchie/Navarch-of-the-Seas-Plane-Bloons-TD-6
  • If you use mods to get multiple Navarch of the seas at once, the trade empire buff it gives can actually stack on top of each other, causing beastly amounts of end of round cash to be generated at once.
