This article is a strategy page, where players may share their ideas on how to optimize the subject in question. Feel free to add new strategies on this page! However, make sure the content you add is clearly formatted, unambiguous, and informative.

Note for all contributors: If you're planning to add a new strategy section about your specific strategy, please make sure to add version numbers and dates to each new section, especially for the latest games.

Monkeyopolis can only consume as many Banana Farms as it can consume within its limited range. The purpose of this article is to provide a gallery that gives insight on the "best" Monkeyopolis spots given particular conditions. Case considerations for this page include:

The gallery below shows a list of optimal locations for a large Monkeyopolis (possibly may need assistance for super good use of Monkeyopolis spots).

Before reading the rest of the article, refer to #Optimized Notes to inform what constitutes as "optimal" for a Monkeyopolis.

Optimized Notes[]

When it comes to optimizing a Monkeyopolis, what is the reason for choosing a Monkeyopolis at a particular stage of the game? Obviously, it is a money-generation upgrade, and thus should be optimized to make the most money. However, the reality is that timing of the Monkeyopolis is just as important too; account for the stage of the game of making the Monkeyopolis. The ideal Monkeyopolis is almost always the high income Monkeyopolis, with exception of the one-Farm Miniopolis created with a triple 0-0-2 Village setup triple-discounting a 0-0-0 Farm. Different stages of Monkeyopolis is just as key as making the ultimate high-income Monkeyopolis.

For a small Monkeyopolis ("Miniopolis"), one of many types of Minopolises is a two-Farm Monkeyopolis with 4-2-0 BRFs, which is achievable on almost all maps that have at least space for two Farms and a Village nearby. The other is a one-Farm base Farm Miniopolis, which is generally easier to make space for than the two-Farm Monkeyopolis, with the only necessity being the stacking of 3 neighboring Villages.

For a typical Monkeyopolis ("Mega-opolis") that is worth use in a real scenario (e.g. Boss Bloon Events, Co-Op Mode, extreme late-game runs), it is best to transition from a Miniopolis into a Monkeyopolis with around 8-10 Farms within range, which should be the bare minimum for a reasonably high income Monkeyopolis, if possible. If the map layout allows for more Farms, more can be added. The rule of thumb for the best Monkeyopolis is to add a nearby Monkey Village and receive an Overclock buff.

There is also the option to get a Monkeyopolis with enormous range and absorption of maximum numbers of Farms on a map. However, it is often very impractical to get a very large Monkeyopolis, and it is only used for breaking records on the highest income Monkeyopolis.

Exceptions[]

There are some exceptions to the main principles of optimal Monkeyopolis. For instance, special rules may exist that may prevent a "perfect" Monkeyopolis. Examples include rulesets, particularly the following: restricting to one Village, banning Engineer or Overclock, or banning selling. Another major example is map limitations.

Total Map Exceptions[]

For purposes of this article, these maps will be ignored.

  • Midnight Mansion - There is literally zero space to place a single Banana Farm, let alone put it within range of a Village.

Mega-opolis Exceptions[]

Specific map exceptions for Mega-opolis:

Other listed exceptions[]

Other listed notes that are exceptions to the general optimization principles include:

  • Infernal (1 Farm) - Cannot practically use a Monkeyopolis due to extreme distances. In fact, it requires a second 1-0-4 Monkey City + OC + Geraldo's Level 14+ Camo Potion (doesn't work as of Version 32.0).
  • Sanctuary (variable no. of Farms) - Requires specific round timings in order to obtain a maximal number of Farms for the Monkeyopolis.

Geraldo's See Invisibility Potion[]

The following are no longer possible due to the Version 32.0 See Invisibility Potion target restriction nerf to "non-attacking" towers, but these images are kept for past reference.

Version History[]

Based on how Monkeyopolis can be utilized and the process of upgrading Monkey City into Monkeyopolis. The concept of an entire page for Monkeyopolis spots was established by the BTD6 community since the existence of Boss Bloon Events due to the key need for Monkeyopolis farming.

27.0
  • Founded concept of establishing "Monkeyopolis/Optimal Spots", from which deep strategization first occurs.
    • Range options: Village, Overclock, Ultraboost, Support Temples, Ezili (doesn't stack with Village)
    • No method of buffing cash generation.
    • Produces $300 per crate per $2000 worth of Banana Farms.
29.0
  • BUFF Monkeyopolis' crates can now be affected by Monkey City income buff without bugs required
  • BUFF Ezili's Sacrificial Totem now counts as a separate buff to Villages, making Sacrificial Totem buffs stack with base Village
31.1
  • NERF [bug fix] Resolved an inconsistency with the upgrade cost of Monkeyopolis
    • Fixed a bug that causes Monkeyopolis to be bought for $5,000 regardless of the amount of farms.
31.0
  • BUFF Added Geraldo, who has Level 14+ See Invisibility Potion to increase range of Monkey City by +15%
32.0
  • NERF Level 14+ See Invisibility Potion range interaction can no longer be applied to Monkey City
  • NERF Monkeyopolis generation per $2000 reduced $300 -> $200
37.0
  • BUFF Monkeyopolis money generation formula includes a base +$2500 minimum
38.0
As a 1 per player T5 we didn’t mind this being excessively powerful at a base level, however the base level became so powerful people stopped investing into the actual farm sacrificing aspect, so we’re dropping this base value down to not skip massively ahead of the normal farm curve.
~ Ninja Kiwi
  • NERF Monkeyopolis base cash generation decreased ($2500 → $1250), one Farm cash generation decreased ($2700 → $1450)
41.0
  • BUFF Striker Jones' Level 8+ range buff applies to Monkey Villages
43.0
[...] Base level Monkeyopolis continues to over perform, so the baseline cash generation is reducing.
~ Ninja Kiwi
  • NERF Monkeyopolis base cash amount reduced from $1250 to $1000, minimum cash amount reduced from $1450 to $1200.
