Monkeyconomy, formerly known as Monkey Town, is the 3rd upgrade on Path 3 of the Monkey Village in Bloons TD Battles 2. It is now entirely new compared to its BTD6 counterpart. Instead of bonus cash per pop, it generates 4 crates worth $100 each during every round.
It costs $1,500, and is unlocked with the purchase of Monkey Village.
Monkeyconomy converts the Village into basically a less cost-efficient Banana Farm by cumulative costs but with the additional discount functionality of Monkey Commerce. It is a mid-game income generator that is also handy in combination with an existing Village. Compared to Banana Farm, what the Monkeyconomy lacks in early-game snowballing is compensated by scaling its mid-game income generation and the inclusion of Monkey Village in a three-tower loadout.
Tips[]
You can discount multiple Monkeyconomies to get a massive saving in efficiency.
Most instances of Monkeyconomy are as an upgrade of the 0-2-2 Village for the extra income. However, spammable Monkeyconomies are best used as 0-0-3, or 1-0-3 if needing more range to cover extra Villages.
Summary (pre-4.0.2)[]
Having an eco bonus from Monkey Town and above allows for each new eco-positive send to give extra eco and eco-negative sends have a lower eco penalty. For a boost of eco income, go for this upgrade to get a headstart in racking up the eco rush. To maximize this upgrade, send Grouped Pinks, which give the fastest gain of eco and are the send with the highest eco-per-dollar, or alternatively send Grouped Purples or Grouped Zebras if there is a safe enough amount of cash flow already.
Tips (pre-4.0.2)[]
There is no point buying a second Monkey Town, because the eco bonus (or eco penalty reduction) does not stack and is considered global.
As Monkey Town lacks a unique Town buff, a Monkey Town can be placed far from the main action to add room for more important towers, unless utilizing its tower and upgrade discounts from its lower tiers. This is because the Town's bonus eco effects are global and therefore not placement-dependent.
Monkey Town can be safely bought by around Round 16 with sufficient greed, but it can only be safely afforded by around Rounds 17-19 and in combination with an already stable defense.

[1.1.1, possibly when Grouped Purples got buffed eco?] Monkey Town's income bonus causes Grouped Purples to decrease its eco from 2.7 to 2.1 instead of actually increasing by 10% (i.e. 2.97, which either rounds down to 2.9 or rounds up to 3.0). This might be an oversight by Ninja Kiwi when hardcoding values for most bloon sends. Strangely does not carry over this bug to Monkey City, which restores to correct amounts. Fixed in Version 1.2.0; the eco gain is now 3.0.
[1.1.1, possibly as early as 1.0] Monkey Town's income bonus causes Grouped Ceramics to decrease its eco from 1.8 to 1.1 instead of actually increasing by 10% (i.e. 1.98, which either rounds down to 1.9 or rounds up to 2.0). This might be an oversight by Ninja Kiwi when they hardcoded the Grouped Ceramics send's eco gain to +1.0. Strangely does not carry over this bug to Monkey City, which restores to correct amounts. This bug was not fixed, but is now irrelevant with v4.0.2 Monkeyconomy changes.
[4.0.2] Sometimes spawned all crates at once upon purchase. Fixed in Version 4.0.3.
[4.1] Monkeyconomy had its 4.0.3 cost changes reverted, due to a possible oversight with updating the 4.1 data to include the emergency 4.0.3 update's upgrade price lists. Fixed in Version 4.1.1.

“
We’ve never been too fond of Village’s bottom path in this game - with xx3 and xx4 offering exactly the same thing and xx5 benefiting from being paired with Farms, which is not a common tower duo. We have simplified xx3 and xx4 to be simple money generation upgrades comparable to a Farm [...]

Similar to Druid, we’re giving a price increase to xx3 Village since it’s very efficient for how cheap it is, particularly when discounted by other Villages.

Trivia[]
In BTDB2, the original iteration of the Monkey Town upgrade (prior to the Version 4.0.2 reworks) costed half as much in BTD6 but produces half as much eco difference compared to BTDB1.
The original pre-4.0.2 description was "All bloon sends give 10% more income" with no period at the end.
