Note: In order to maximize the potential of the Monkey Buccaneer, make sure the map you're playing on has a lot of water. A good example of this is a map like Docks where there is a lot of space for water towers.
At the start of the game, place a Monkey Buccaneer in such a way that it's not too close to the entrance but not too close to the exit either. Then slowly send grouped Red Bloons and upgrade your Buccaneer to 0-2-0. The upgrade "Hot Shots" will be very effective when early Greens and Blues come up. Upgrade your Buccaneer again to 0-3-0 when Yellows and Pinks appear, it is the cheapest Tier-3 Monkey Buccaneer upgrade. Keep making eco by sending more grouped Bloons. Don't forget to upgrade your Buccaneer to 0-3-2 so that the Monkey Buccaneer can detect camos. Make sure you do this before Round 12, especially if this is your only tower that can detect camos.

- If you haven't unlocked the "Cannon Ship" upgrade, place more 0-2-0 Buccaneers.
- If your Buccaneer is having trouble, use bomb shooters to support it.
