All money generated by this farm is now stored in the bank and earns 20% interest every round.
”
~ BTDB2 description as of Version 1.1.1
Monkey Bank is the 3rd upgrade on Path 2 of the Banana Farm in Bloons TD Battles 2. It is similar to its BTD6 counterpart except it produces more cash overall, adds a lump payment at the start of each round, and is more expensive.
At the start of every round, the Monkey Bank pays $550 into its account, and immediately multiplies the amount in the bank by 1.2 afterwards. During the round, it generates 3 additional payments of $50 each, summing to $150 during the round. The process repeats at the start of a new round; via this algorithm, the Bank produces a minimum of $810 per round, interest-inclusive. The Bank has a max capacity of $14,000.
Adding the top crosspath increases the number of payments to 5 per round (1/3/0) for a total of $960 per round and ultimately up to 7 per round (2/3/0) for a total of $1080 per round. The 0/3/1 crosspath adds a glowing light when the bank is full, and the 0/3/2 crosspath will immediately autocollect at the end of a round if the bank is full.
It costs $4400, and is unlocked with purchase of Banana Farm.
Compared to Bloons TD 6, where Monkey Banks were the dominant money-making strategy, the Monkey Bank has been brought more in line with other money-making towers, mostly due to its heavy price nerfs that attempt to match overall costs more closely to its previous BTDB Mobile counterpart.
If left until full (around 10-14 rounds depending on cross-paths), it will provide an average per-round income of $1167 per round (with 0/3/X) to $1400 per-round (with 2/3/0), but only if collected when full or near-full. This makes the Monkey Bank a risky investment, only useful if you have a sure-fire strategy to last for 10 or more rounds after affording a bank.
Tips[]
Monkey Bank may be most useful as a stepping-stone for the IMF Loan, which can be used to gain a net burst of $12,500 money for a game-ending rush or game-saving tower.
It can still work to use a Monkey Bank strategy in Round 20+ in a semi-stalemate situation after accruing a solid eco gain. However, it is incredibly risky to get a Monkey Bank, even with 0-3-2 crosspath (which increases sellback), and that money invested in the bank can't be used for eco. Also, it takes at a minimum of about 8 rounds to break even the cost of the Bank, which makes the player vulnerable to a rush with BFBs, ZOMGs, and DDTs.
Banks are best used in conjunction with Benjamin, and with some risky gameplay the Banks can be bought earlier and therefore can start extrapolating income sooner. Start with 2-2-0 Farm and some 2-0-0 Farms, and then upgrade the 2-0-0 Farms into 2-0-2 to quickly afford the Bank upgrade and start the stored income snowball.
It is possible to get a Bank as soon as Round 9. This requires low eco with a high focus on lower-tier Farms. Beware of rushes; only pursue the early Bank if there's certainty of secure defenses.
This particular trick is beneficial for early IMF Loans.

“
Monkey Bank has been in long need of an efficiency buff, since it has never been able to compete with the other Banana Farm upgrades. We did not want to indirectly buff IMF Loan, therefore the total cost of an x4x Banana Farm remains unchanged.

“
[...] In addition to this, we have improved the Bank so that it can fill up earlier, since this upgrade does not get used and the long fill time is one major reason for this.

Trivia[]
The $550 at the beginning of each round is exactly the value you would get from putting in 6 deposits of $68 each right at the end of the turn, getting 20% interest on it, and then getting another payment of $68 at the beginning of the turn.
Since buffing interest from 15% to 20%, the Monkey Bank's description once stated its interest rate was 15%, which was inaccurate due to the description not being updated after the 1.0.6 balance patch. This was fixed in the 1.4.2 update.
