“ | All money generated by this farm is now stored in the bank and earns 15% interest every round. | ” |
~ In-game description |
Monkey Bank is the 3rd upgrade on Path 2 for Banana Farm in Bloons TD 6. The Monkey Bank no longer drops bananas but instead generates money throughout the round, which is placed in its own "bank account", separate from that of other Monkey Banks. Money is stored in the Bank, capped to a maximum amount, and the money can be withdrawn via the Collect button at any time. All Banks also have a Collect All button that automatically withdraws all Banks.
It generates $225 per round which can be upgraded to $274 and $325 with the Increased Production and Greater Production upgrades, respectively. Monkey Bank with EZ Collect will highlight itself once it is full, while a Monkey Bank with the Banana Salvage upgrade will autocollect its balance when full after one round, on top of +10% sellback. It can store up to $7,000 and its capacity can be increased to $9,500 with the Bigger Banks MK. At the end of each round, the currently stored balance earns 15% interest. Therefore, a Monkey Bank can produce at least $259 per round at bare minimum when interest is taken into consideration. Selling a Monkey Bank will automatically withdraw the balance stored in the bank. As of Version 35.0, x-3-x and above Monkey Banks are affected by More Valuable Bananas.
This upgrade costs $3,100 on Easy, $3,650 on Medium, $3,940 on Hard, and $4,380 on Impoppable.

Not enough images! There are not enough images on this page to sufficiently complete this page or section. You can help by uploading some images related to the article's subject(s). In particular, this article needs: An image representing a Bank and its basic functions and appearances. |
Instead of a crate containing a banana tree, the Monkey Bank is a wooden building in a Wild West architectural style, stylized as an old-style bank. This rectangular wooden building erects a wooden display, which holds up a yellow double-crossed dollar sign above a wooden header that is supported by two wooden pillars. The Monkey Bank has a two-way door, which may represent a saloon door, although difficult to determine shape of the tops of the doors due to the angle at which the Monkey Bank is viewed. The building lays on top of a light-brown wooden deck. The top of the building's main body is dark-brown with some lighter-brown stripes.
In the game, the Monkey Bank has a few animations. When idle, the dollar sign slowly wiggles from left to right. If bank balance is collected, the Monkey Bank "hops", briefly extending its body vertically. With EZ Collect, the dollar sign glows if the bank capacity is full.
Crosspaths change appearance of the Monkey Bank. With Path 1 crosspaths, the Monkey Bank's deck gains a grey or yellow rock border on the outsides if crosspathed with Increased Production or Greater Production, respectively. With Path 2 crosspaths, the Monkey Bank receives two crates, one on each side, gaining either plain wooden crates (EZ Collect) or patterned blue crates with banana icons (Banana Salvage).
Banana Farm no longer drops collectable bananas that need to be manually picked up; instead, it is an automatic reserve bank that stores all its income into the bank, up to $7,000 ($9,500 with Bigger Banks). It stores an extra $225 per round ($274 with 1-3-0, $325 with 2-3-0) divided equally into 6 lump sums (7 with 1-3-0, 8 with 2-3-0), and is deposited into its own bank account. After the end of each round, the bank earns 15% interest in its account.
The calculation for the Monkey Bank's income generation goes like this:
- Automatically deposits a total amount of cash into the bank account, split into a certain quantity of equal lump sums.
- Generates interest at the end of each round.
- Repeat Step 1 and 2 until the bank capacity is surpassed, in which the bank capacity has become capped
Targeting Priorities[]
Monkey Bank, which stores money in its bank account, does not have a real targeting priority. Instead, it has different buttons that alter its behavior.
Monkey Bank comes with two "targeting priorities" by default: Collect, and Collect All. "Collect" withdraws all money from the current Bank, while "Collect All" withdraws all money from all Banks (including IMF Loans) on screen.
Costs[]
- Updated as of Version 41.0. Listed prices exclude external buffs, any sacrifices, and Monkey Knowledge.

Summary[]
The key strength of the Monkey Bank comes from extrapolating its income gain, which is done by storing cash over long numbers of rounds. When stored until max capacity, the Monkey Bank becomes one of the most efficient income producers in the entire game. In order to make the most of the Monkey Bank, it is best placed as early as possible without neglecting mid-game defense. Between Rounds 20-30 is generally the best time to start off the first Monkey Bank.
The main disadvantage of the Monkey Bank, however, is that early withdrawals harm its overall income generation efficiency. It takes several rounds in order to break even the stored income with an equivalent number of Farms, and the Bank does not directly generate income without interaction. By having a good defense, the player will be able to keep the Monkey Bank's bank account stored for longer periods, for a far better reward in the long run.
Generally speaking, the Monkey Bank is one of the easiest to spam its income potential in exchange for a different style of micromanagement. Instead of picking up bananas everywhere, the only real necessity to minimizing its income losses is checking each bank account after each round. Simply make use of the Collect and Collect All buttons to withdraw cash when Banks are full or approaching full.
As one of the strongest income generators for such a low-cost income generator, but requiring much time for peak efficiency, a Monkey Bank bought as soon as possible helps transition into much more powerful income generators later on. In basic farming strategies, a Monkey Bank is favorable for long-term income gain, whether it be for kickstarting the transition into various other income generation methods or to just spam more Monkey Banks for an easy form of income generation. This is in order to capitalize on Monkey Bank's incredible efficiency, which is almost incomparable to most other income sources in the game.
Tips[]
- 2-3-0 is usually considered the far superior option over 0-3-2, due to the 2-3-0 Bank's far greater income gain per round. 0-3-2 is still a very viable option once a decent income flow begins, as the top path requires additional management compared to the benefit of automatic withdrawals from Banana Salvage.
- A single 0-3-X Monkey Bank will reach maximum capacity at the same time as a 2-4-0 IMF Loan in almost all conditions. If the player is upgrading your banks to IMF Loan, having a 0-3-1 Monkey Bank helps to indicate when all banks are full without having to individually check on them.
- The Bigger Banks MK increases bank capacity by +$2,500, from $7,000 to $9,500, which greatly improves the Monkey Banks farming potential.
- Whenever using Monkey Banks, always try pairing with Benjamin. On later upgrades, Level 5+ and 9+, he grants +5% and +12% income for banks, respectively.
- Benjamin's "interest" buff appears to be erroneous. He apparently does not actually buff the interest rate, but rather improves the total value of the automatic deposits per round by a set percentage. At some point, the description has been fixed and "interest" has been replaced by "income".
- To calculate Benjamin's "interest" buff, multiply the current round's automatic deposit amount by 1.05 or 1.12, respectively, rather than adding percentages into the Bank's natural 15% interest. To reiterate, the Benjamin "interest" buff only affects the automatic deposits per round.
- Additionally, it turns out that Ben's bonus income does not stack with the bonus income from More Valuable Bananas, meaning that the bonus 5% or 12% is only applied to the base income of $225/$274/$325 per round.
- It is worth studying the rounds in the game, in order to prepare necessary defenses against possible difficult rounds and therefore reduce the risk of forcing out the bank investment too soon.
- Try to make use of a double 2-0-0 Farm strategy that transitions into 2-2-0 and 2-0-2, in which the 2-0-2 will later be sold to afford an early 2-3-0 Monkey Bank. This is a common method to kickstart income but a rather easy strategy to pull off.
- At the start of the round, it is a good idea to withdraw a Bank if its account is almost full. If a Bank's account is approximately $6,300 without Bigger Banks, or $8,800 with Bigger Banks, then emptying the Bank will be more efficient in terms of income generation.

Income earning per round (35.0-Present)[]
As of Version 35.0, Monkey Bank income generation is now affected by all external buffs, not just limited to Benjamin's increased cash packet buffs, and an undocumented change caused all Banks to produce a new amount of cash per round with the base amounts and crosspathing. Instead of $230/$270/$310 per round, the Bank now produces $225/$274/$325 per round, ignoring the added interest applied afterwards. Also, More Valuable Bananas now increases income generation of each cash packet. With it, the income per round is $233/$285/$338.
Also assumes that the Bigger Banks MK is active.

Income earning per round (26.0-34.3)[]
As of Version 26.0, Monkey City now has its bonus income buff improved from +10% to +15%, which subsequently changed the total stored income for Banks with City buff compared to without. Otherwise, Banks without that buff are the same.
Note: The table assumes that the Monkey Bank has been initially upgraded before the first round starts and that the result is given as when the round has ended (After interest has been applied).
Also assumes that the Bigger Banks MK is active.

WIP This section or article is currently a work in progress (WIP), and therefore under construction. Please bear with us while our editors improve the page. |
Note that as of 31.2, Monkey City does not seem to interact with Banks at all. Banks (or any of its upgrades) placed within range of a Monkey City will not generate additional income compared to one without. It is yet unknown whether this is a bug or an undocumented nerf.
Income earning per round (12.0-25.2)[]
As of Version 12.0, bank income bonus has decreased from +$160 to +$150 by default. Therefore, instead of at least $240 per round, this income gain is decreased to at least $230 per round.
Note: The table assumes that the Monkey Bank has been initially upgraded before the first round starts and that the result is given as when the round has ended. (After interest has been applied)
Also assumes that the Bigger Banks MK is known, and no manual deposits from the Bank Deposits MK are done. (See section below for info on Bank Deposits and their profits.)

Bank Deposits MK (19.0-26.2)[]
Warning! Bank Deposits was nerfed in 27.0 to no longer allow x-3-x Banks to deposit cash. This section is kept for legacy reasons. |
Adding Bank Deposits will almost always increase profit per round. However, after some testing and calculating, the most efficient strategy has made itself apparent, To save space in the table, assume that all farms have the 2/x/x upgrade.
The money is shown as the amount in the bank at the end of the round (after interest has been applied) and as if all deposits happened during the first round.
Calculations about the average profit per round for each scenario have been made. It is concluded it is more efficient to withdraw 1 round before the bank reaches its maximum capacity. The profit per round can be calculated by subtracting the amount of money in the bank by the amount deposited, then dividing by the round you withdrew on.
Example math: 2/3/0 bank after depositing 4750. withdrawing at the end of round 4.
9004-4750 = 4254,
4254 / 4 rounds = 1,063.5, rounded to 1,064 per round

Income earning per round (pre-7.0)[]
The following is information regarding income earning per round for the Monkey Bank before the Version 7.0 nerf that lowers the maximum bank capacity. For Version 7.0 and later, the following is still true for IMF Loans' and Monkey-Nomic's bank accounts.
Note: The table assumes that the Monkey Bank has been initially upgraded before the round starts and that the income is given as when after the round.
Note 2: In BTD6 v3.x, the Monkey Bank does not appear to consistently calculate interest correctly for the 0/3/x and 1/3/0 banks. The following results are the maximum of three tests

Mathematics[]
Python code is written below as a demonstration of a rough model of a Monkey Bank simulation. Currently, this code does not take into account the presence of Benjamin's Bank buffs (multiply the total deposit per round by 1.05 or 1.12 for Level 5-8 and Level 9+, respectively).
Variables:
account
: The bank balance of the current bank account. Code below declares it as $0 (0).deposit
: The total deposit per round into the current bank account. Code below declares it as $230 (230).interestrate
: The interest rate of the current bank account. Code below declares it as +15% per round (1.15).capacity
: The maximum bank capacity of the current bank account. Code below declares it as $7000 (7000).i
: The iterator that loops the number of "rounds" for the Bank to run. Please change the hardcoded maximumi
value to whatever number of rounds you wish.

Version History[]
Balance Changes[]
Monkey Banks are arguably one of the most cost-efficient income production towers in the whole game, especially with both its snowball income potential and its relatively lower micromanagement requirement. The Monkey Bank upgrade was nerfed multiple times in many different updates because of how cost-effective it was, although the addition of Benjamin and Bank Deposits has somewhat softened those nerfs. It was majorly nerfed again when the Monkey Bank's Bank Deposits privilege was revoked but left for IMF Loan. Although majorly nerfed, it received a buff in Version 40.0 to undo some of its nerfs, in competition with the one-Farm Monkeyopolis.
- 2.0
- Cost of Monkey Bank increased ($2800 → $3200).
- 4.0
- Cost of Monkey Bank increased ($3200 → $3300).
- 7.0
- Monkey Bank maximum capacity lowered from $10,000 to $7,000.
- 12.0
- Monkey Bank bonus income reduced (+$160 → +$150).
- 18.0
- Added Monkey Knowledge Point "Bank Deposits": this MK allows the player to deposit money into the Monkey Bank, earning interest over time.
- 19.0
- Deposits do not gain income until 1 round after being deposited.
- [Undocumented] Monkey Bank with EZ Collect (or Banana Salvage) will now glow upon detecting full once it adds another pocket of cash, rather than only just after the round it becomes full.
- 23.0
“ | Monkey Bank is just too stonks even without Benjamin. This nerf shouldn't hurt it too much, but will make it snowball a little bit slower and balance with the other paths better. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- Monkey Bank costs more ($3300 → $3500).
- 27.0
“ | Given the relatively low value and use case of upgrading Banks further to IMF Loan, the overall incredible power of the Bank Deposits MK on Banks, and the fact that Banks are majorly considered to be the most powerful farm; we have decided to limit this incredibly powerful Knowledge point [sic] until the IMF Loan to both reign it in and give a little more back to that lacking T4 upgrade. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- Monkey Banks no longer can use the Bank Deposits MK point. This nerf does not affect IMF Loan or above.
- 28.0
“ | Banana Farm's xx2 upgrade is the inferior crosspath, so we've amped up the utility with the lazy aspect so that if it's going to be inferior for production, it's at least going to be extra lazy & less far behind. [...] | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi, referring to Banana Salvage |
- 0-3-2 Monkey Bank now autocollects at the end of the round it fills with no delay
- 31.2 (unknown date)
- [undocumented] Monkey Bank is no longer affected by Monkey City's income buff
- 34.0
“ | Bank is a little too much more efficient than any other Banana Farm option, this price nerf should leave it so it really somewhat still is but not so far ahead. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- Monkey Bank cost increased $3500 → $3800
- 35.0
“ | For sake of consistency we want Monkey Bank to increase in cash generation when used with sources that externally buff generation so everything works as expected, however along with this buff the current power of IMF loan on this path already feels too strong so we are lowering that power for IMF Loan in exchange. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- x3x and above Monkey Bank will now increase in cash generation with external buffs
- [Undocumented] This does not affect the cash granted from abilities of IMF Loan or Monkey-Nomics.
- [Undocumented bug] Banks now make 180 cash per round by default, but are also affected by Valuable Bananas and by extension, More Valuable Bananas.
- 03x bank now generates 225 cash by default, 234 cash with More Valuable Bananas.
- 130 bank now generates 275 cash by default, 286 cash with More Valuable Bananas.
- 230 bank now generates 325 cash by default, 338 cash with More Valuable Bananas.
- 40.0
“ | The current power of xx5 Village combined with previous nerfs to Middle Farm have it currently feeling underappreciated for farm profits, some slight price adjustment. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- Monkey Bank cost reduced ($3800 → $3650)

Trivia[]
- On Version 14.0 and later, Monkey Banks and their subsequent upgrades do not make bank collection sounds when collecting their accounts.
- Interestingly enough, the autocollection from crosspathing with Banana Salvage didn't make an autocollection sound either, even before Version 14.0.
- The name "Monkey Bank" is a play on "money bank".
- According to Ninja Kiwi's May 7th 2021 blog, the monkeys inside Monkeys Banks profit by means of investing on "quantum markets". Automatic depositing in the Monkey Bank apparently allows monkeys investing on those markets to profit even within a short amount of time of leaving their deposits in the Bank. The same should apply to manual deposits, although it will take one additional round after depositing before the interest of manual deposits can begin due to the Version 19.0 Bank Deposits nerf.
- Before the Beast Handler, Monkey Bank had the only upgrade icon that represents a non-mythical animal other than monkeys. In this case, that upgrade icon features a pig, representing a piggy bank.
