The only unit that moves, the Monkey Ace patrols the skies above the action, regularly strafing the area with powerful piercing darts.
~ In-game description

The Monkey Ace is a tower in Bloons TD 4, Bloons TD 4 Expansion, and Bloons TD 4 Mobile. It is unlocked at Rank 12, while its final upgrade is unlocked at Rank 27.

The Monkey Ace is a flying tower that travels on a fixed figure eight path centered on its placement position. It fires volleys of 8 darts in a circle around itself as it travels. It can be placed anywhere, including water or the track, though it still occupies a small footprint at its placement position.

It costs $765 on Easy, $900 on Medium, and $970 on Hard. In BTD4 Expansion, its costs are reduced when using the Vehicles specialty.

Summary[]

The Monkey Ace excels at spreading damage across spread-out tracks.

Tips[]

  • As Monkey Aces can be placed anywhere, one could save land space by only placing Monkey Aces on the track and unplaceable land.
  • While Pineapple Express allows the Monkey Ace to damage Lead Bloons, it is not a reliable source of Lead popping power.
  • While Spy Plane's radius of influence is massive, even larger than a Monkey Buccaneer with Longer Cannons, it is generally not necessary to deal with Camo Bloons due to their mechanics in BTD4 allowing any stray projectile without Camo detection to pop them, including those from the Monkey Ace itself.
  • Operation: Dart Storm is a very effective upgrade for its price range, particularly for Apopalypse Mode runs.

Bugs[]

  • In BTD4 Expansion, the Vehicles specialty causes the Monkey Ace's upgrades to behave as though their costs have been increased, rather than reduced. The upgrade buttons will display the increased price and will not allow the player to purchase them if the player cannot afford the listed price. The amount of cash deducted when the player purchases these upgrades is correctly discounted, however.

Quotes[]

Monkey Ace patrols the skies above the action regularly shooting 8 powerful darts in all directions. Good for thinning out bloon formations.
~ Unlock description
Monkey Aces are best suited to more spread out tracks where they can inflict the most poppage.

Trivia[]

Ocean road indev
  • The Monkey Ace was first revealed in a teaser screenshot released on June 25 2009, showcasing it and a few other towers on a track resembling Ocean Road.[1] It would remain unnamed until the game's release.
  • The rapid-fire upgrade resembles a Lockheed P-38 Lighting.
  • Unlike its modern counterparts, it does not have a runway, meaning players do not have to deal with the large footprint of the modern Aces
