Metal Glacier Freeze is a damage type introduced in Bloons TD 5 Flash. It is unable to pop only White Bloons, but can pop any other type of bloon, especially including Lead Bloons and other Frozen Bloons. In Bloons TD 5 Flash, Bloons Monkey City Flash, Bloons TD Battles Flash, and Bloons TD Battles Mobile, it was the default damage type of the Ice Monkey, replacing the previous Metal Freeze. The Bloons Wiki represents this damage type with Metal Glacier Freeze Type (pops Black, Purple, Lead, Frozen)Metal Glacier Freeze Type (pops Black, Purple, Lead, Frozen), a combination of the Bloons TD 6 upgrade icons for Cold Snap and Re-Freeze, respectively.

Outside of games in the BTD5 generation, Metal Freeze/Glacier only appears in full force in one other Bloons TD game, Bloons Adventure Time TD. Additionally, it also appears in Bloons Pop!.

History of Metal Freeze/Glacier damage[]

Bloons TD 5[]

Bloons TD 5 Flash introduced this damage type, replacing Metal Freeze Type (pops Black, Purple, Lead) Metal Freeze as the default Ice Monkey damage type. This change was reverted in Bloons TD 5 Mobile and Bloons Monkey City Mobile, so that in those two games the Ice Monkey could no longer pop Frozen.

Bloons TD Battles[]

Bloons TD Battles Mobile initially had, like its other mobile counterparts, returned the Ice Monkey to Metal Freeze Type (pops Black, Purple, Lead) Metal Freeze damage typing. But patch 3.5 allowed Ice Monkey to pop Frozen Bloons, just like in the Flash version, and thus the update effectively introduced Metal Freeze/Glacier into BTDBM.

Bloons Super Monkey 2[]

The Snap Freeze powerup is the only source of Metal Freeze in BSM2, where it replaces all other kinds of cold-based damage. Technically speaking, it is not possible to notice whether it can damage frozen bloons without modding, as its freeze duration is shorter than the cooldown. It is also able to freeze Shielded bloons.

Blooms Supermonkey 2 Mobile[]

Just like in the Flash version, all sources of Cold Cold Type (pops Black, Purple) deal Metal Glacier Freeze damage. Most sources of Freezing can no longer freeze Frozen bloons, although they can still deal damage to them. Rank 3 Blizzard Boots and Rank 3 Sub Zero Shots can also freeze Shielded Bloons, same with Snap Freeze's freeze effect, although after Rank 2 and above it instead has Normal Normal Type (pops Black, White, Purple, Lead, Frozen) freezing and freezes all bloons. Any Metal Glacier Freeze effect that freezes Shielded bloons remove their shields.

Bloons TD 6[]

Bloons TD 6 replaced Metal Freeze/Glacier's role as the default Ice Monkey damage type with Cold Type (pops Black, Purple) Cold, which can no longer pop Lead Bloons and Frozen Bloons.

Snowstorm's special ability damage formerly had this type by default until version 25.0, which changed the ability to be Glacier Type (pops Black, Purple, Frozen) Glacier throughout. According to NK, the very damage type's existence for Snowstorm was born from a "corruption".

The type can be otherwise emulated via crosspathing an Ice Monkey with both Cold Snap and Re-Freeze.

Bloons Adventure Time TD[]

The Metal Freeze/Glacier type returns in Bloons Adventure Time TD. It is the default damage type of the Ice King. Additionally, the Ice Monkey's Snap Freeze attack once again carried this damage type. However, the Ice Monkey's freezing proper cannot refreeze Frozen Bloons.

Bloons Pop![]

In Bloons Pop!, the Ice Monkey and Mega Ice Monkey once again possess this damage type, as they can now pop both Lead Bloons and other Frozen Bloons, but not White Bloons or Zebra Bloons. None of the Ice Monkey's damage types from BTD6 are present.
