Medium Difficulty is a Difficulty in the Bloons Tower Defense 2-6, making its debut in Bloons TD 2.

Towers are fairly priced in Medium. Traditionally, Medium Difficulty gives the player 75% as many lives as Easy Difficulty, and 150% as many lives as Hard Difficulty, aka 150 lives. Medium difficulty is well suited to intermediate players. To pass Medium Difficulty, the player must complete Round 50 in BTD2 and BTD3, and in BTD5 the player will have to pass Round 65, making it slightly harder than medium in BTD4. In BTD5, although it is back to round 60 in BTD 6. In BTD 4 onwards round 60 happens to be the first round with a BFB. In BTD4 some players think of it as the boss of medium difficulty. In BTD4, Easy and Hard do not have a single "boss" for their final level, but rather a very tough round with a combination of tough bloons like the BFB, MOAB, etc. However, in BTD5, Medium does not have a Boss Bloon, but Hard does (Z.O.M.G.)

240 medals are achievable as of May 2022.

While Easy has no single boss, it is sometimes considered to be the M.O.A.B., as it is the last bloon on round 50 (the same can be said for Medium with the BFB).

BTD4[]

In BTD4 and Bloons TD 4 Expansion, medium difficulty has 60 Rounds that must be passed for the player to be awarded a silver medal. The final round, round 60 is also the first round to have a B.F.B.

BTD5[]

In Bloons TD 5, the player must pass Round 65, which includes two B.F.B.s. The Bloons move a little bit faster than on Easy Mode but slower than on Hard mode.

BTD6[]

In Bloons TD 6, the player must pass Round 60, which is the first round with a B.F.B. bloon, in order to win, with the starting cash of $650, and prize of Monkey Money depending on the map played. Towers and upgrades are at their normal prices and bloons move 10% faster than on Easy. The rounds start at Round 1, as normal.

There are also a few variations based on Medium difficulty.

  • Military Monkeys Only: beat Round 60 using only Military Monkeys (Sniper Monkey, Monkey Sub, Monkey Buccaneer, Monkey Ace, Heli Pilot, Mortar Monkey, Dartling Gunner) and the selected Hero.
  • Apopalypse: Beat round 60 with bloons spawn in completely randomized waves with no break between them. When a round sends all its generated Bloons, the next round immediately begins and there is no cash awarded after each round ends. Must complete Military Monkeys Only to play.
  • Reverse: Every bloon appears from the exit and exits at the entrance, as well as spawning in reverse order.
  • Sandbox: A mode to test out strategies in different tracks, difficulties, bloon rounds, and towers. No rewards whatsoever in this variation.

Getting all Medium medals on the same map rewards the Silver Border.

Trivia[]

  • The Medium Difficulty picture for BTD5 has an Ace of Spades card in the cat-eye band around the helmet of the monkey operating the Mortar Tower. He is also smoking a cigar. In BTD6, the monkey does not smoke a cigar.
  • On Extreme tracks, it is depicted as a Monkey with the Ray of Doom upgrade.
