“ | Monkey engineering developed to perfection. Creates three Mega Sentries that can build their own sentries. | ” |
~ In-game description |
Master Builder is the Paragon of the Engineer Monkey, which was first released in Version 32.0.
Combining major features from the Sentry Champion, Ultraboost, and XXXL Trap, Master Builder itself can shoot 3 nails at once. These nails can pin Ceramic Bloons and stun any MOAB-class Bloons (besides BAD or Boss Bloons) for a short time, and can pop all bloon types (including camo), Master Builder's main attack and their sentries will deal bonus damage to any Boss Bloons (including Elite Bosses). Each round also increases its attack speed by 10% with 0.05s minimum attack cooldown. In addition to all this, Master Builder gains the ability to manually deploy up to three specialized Mega Sentries that themselves create identical Mini Sentries.
The Master Builder is obtained by having one of each tier 5 Engineer Monkey and purchasing the Paragon upgrade, which subsequently consumes all Engineer Monkey on screen. The Degree of the Master Builder ranges from 1-100 and is determined by total cost, pop count, bonus income, upgrades, and number of Engineer Monkeys sacrificed as explained here. As with all Paragons, the Master Builder cannot receive buffs from any external sources except the Nautic Siege Core's Energizer buff and the "Paragon of Power" Monkey Knowledge (and from the bloon debuffing status effects of Cripple MOAB, Glue Storm, and Super Brittle).
Upgrading to this Paragon costs $552,500 on Easy, $650,000 on Medium, $702,000 on Hard, and $780,000 on Impoppable. To max out on manual cash sacrifices starting from v39.0, the player must spend at least $1,657,500 on Easy, $1,950,000 on Medium, $2,106,000 on Hard, and $2,340,000 on Impoppable; before v39.0, the max cash sacrifices was $250,000. With max slider, these costs increase to $1,740,375 on Easy, $2,047,500 on Medium, $2,211,300 on Hard, and $2,457,000 on Impoppable.
Description[]
Overview[]
WIP Write down a detailed description of Master Builder |
The Master Builder now uses a large, mechanical exoskeleton, similar to the M.A.D. Its torso is an amber cube with a black horizontal stripe running through the frame, with a black-and-grey striped top. On its left is a huge grey bolted-on arm with an orange shoulder pauldron and an orange pincer emitting blue electricity. On its right is a similar arm with a box-shaped cannon, which is orange with a large dark-blue stripe and has a red siren light on top. The cannon itself has 2 rails and a magazine trailing into the arm. On the Master Builder’s back is a power-pack with a fan-shaped device on top, similar to Overclock and Ultraboost, with two more industrial connectors protruding from it - each of these connectors has a gun that resembles a Cold Sentry. The exoskeleton stands on a pedestal of three legs, with a black and yellow caution stripe pattern and orange feet.
The Master Builder themselves wears a white helmet with a cyan U-shaped stripe on top. The helmet covers their ears and has two cyan attachments with grey covers that resemble ear defenders, similar to their third path. They wear a pair of goggles similar to Sentry Champion, although they are now dark blue and have the Overclock/Ultraboost blue circuitry pattern on them. Starting from Version 32.2, the Master Builder always has an orbiting Ultraboost-esque aura to depict self-ultraboosting.
The Master Builder's attack is a stream of nails (resembling the Engineer's projectile) that stuns MOAB-class bloons, including those below ZOMGs
Mega Sentries are the main creation of the Master Builder. Three types of Mega Sentry are available, and up to all three of these Mega Sentries can be active at once: Red, Green, and Blue. Each Mega Sentry sits on a base of four "feet", the "neck" supporting the "head", and the "head" having a barrel and decorative mechanical parts on top; the "head" additionally holds a phillips-head screw on opposite sides perpendicular to the barrel, two antennae, a dorsal "horn", and a case at the back of its "head". The color schemes of each Mega Sentry vary, but all Mega Sentries share the same product paradigm. These special sentries can themselves create miniature Modified Paragon Sentries that fire at bloons. All of these sentries can be sold to explode manually, and Modified Paragon Sentries automatically explode after a short delay after expiring.
In the upgrade portrait, the Master Builder is seen readying all their new weapons while smiling, proud of their work.
Activated Abilities[]
Master Builder does not automatically create their own sentries; instead, sentry creation requires user input to activate the Mega Sentry Ability. Upon pressing the Mega Sentry Ability, the Mega Sentry is prompted to be placed anywhere on screen. The type of Mega Sentry placed alternates between Green, Red, and Blue, and repeats back again for subsequent uses; additionally, the Mega Sentry Ability icon changes accordingly to that queue. If the same Mega Sentry type already exists, the old Mega Sentry will automatically explode after creation of the new Mega Sentry. This activated ability has a cooldown of 20 seconds and has a full initial cooldown, minus the transformation animation after purchasing the Master Builder.
Targeting Priorities[]
Master Builder targets bloons using the standard targeting priorities. It has multiple types of attacks that are shot in different styles.
- First: Targets the first bloon visible within its range.
- Last: Targets the last bloon visible within its range.
- Close: Targets the closest bloon visible within its range.
- Strong: Targets the strongest bloon visible within its range.
Master Builder has multiple types of attacks that interact with Targeting Priorities in various ways, which cannot simply be explained in a single paragraph:
- Main machine gun nail attack shoots straight movement projectiles based on main targeting priority setting of the Master Builder.
- Deployment of Mega Sentries requires user input to manually place them, and all Mega Sentries initially inherit targeting priority of the Master Builder.
- Mega Sentries each have their own unique targeting priorities and interactions. Main attack is controlled by its own targeting priority settings.
- Red Mega Sentry shoots straight movement projectiles, three red plasma beams (resembling the sun avatar)
- Blue Mega Sentry shoots straight movement projectiles, in the form of MAD-like blue missiles.
- Green Mega Sentry shoots a purple lazer beam(like the plasma accelerator) that target the player's cursor, has global range
- Mini Sentries have two different attacks that have different interactions with Targeting Priorities:
- Its main plasma attacks are shot as straight movement projectiles, and follows targeting priority settings.
- The self-destructive explosion is a zone-based attack that is locked on Close for pierce calculation purposes.
Despite being able to detect Camo Bloons naturally, Master Builder does not have the Camo Prioritization targeting priority. All Mega Sentries also detect camo but lack the Camo Prioritization targeting option. None of the mini sentries have a method of popping Camo.
Monkey Knowledge Interactions[]
Interactions with MK? Some entries, such as the Vigilant Sentries (possibly unaffected?) need verificaiton |
The following Monkey Knowledge Points directly affect the Master Builder:
- Vigilant Sentries: Sentry Turrets last longer than normal.
- Increases Sentry Gun lifespan from 25 seconds to 30 seconds. Applies to all Sentries, including from Sentry Expert and Sentry Champion.
- Vigilant Sentries:Mini-Modified Paragon Sentry lasts +5 seconds longer.
- Increases Mini-Modified Paragon Sentry for 19s to 24s.
- Better Sell Deals: All Monkeys sell for 5% more.
- Increases sell potency from 70% to 75%.
- Veteran Monkey Training: All Monkeys reload time reduced by 3%.
- Global Ability Cooldowns: All Ability cooldowns for all Monkeys reduced by 3%.
- Paragon of Power: Any paragon will gain a large boost to its attack speed so long as you have no T5s of the same tower type placed
The following Monkey Knowledge Points do affect Master Builder, but only indirectly:
- Monkey Education: All Monkeys XP earn rate increased by 8%.
Creating the Master Builder[]
Like the other paragons The Master Builder can be created by having one of each Tier 5 Engineer Monkey on screen, at which point, the upgrade icon for the Master Builder will become available on any of the tier 5 Engineer Monkeys. Purchasing the upgrade will change the selected Engineer Monkey into the Master Builder while sacrificing every other Engineer Monkey on screen (including those belonging to co-op players). Only one Master Builder may exist at a time, even in co-op.
Degree Requirements and Attack Statistics[]
In addition to cosmetic changes every 20 degrees, increasing degrees will elevate the damage output of the Master Builder. The degree is dependent upon total pop count, number of tier 5 upgrades, non-tier 5 upgrades, cost, and number of sacrificed Engineer Monkeys as discussed here.
The approximate power levels for 20 degree increments are listed alongside the associated damage statistics and some general guidelines on which sacrificial investments to make.

Troubleshooting[]
Types of Sentries[]
Master Builder can build up to three Paragon Sentries on the map: Green, Red, and Blue. Master Builder's Mega Sentry Ability enables the deployment and redeployment of each Paragon Sentry with a 20 seconds cooldown and has a 6.67s initial cooldown, in order of Green, Red, and Blue Sentries. Once the cycle has completed, any duplicate types of Mega Sentries are immediately destroyed. Each type of Mega Sentry is specialized in a unique attacking style. All Mega Sentries can regularly produce Modified Paragon Sentries. If a Mega Sentry is sold, it and its mini Sentries will immediately explode, while selling the Master Builder will destroy all sub-towers associated in its sub-tower "family".
Like ordinary Paragons, all Sentries cannot receive external buffs. However, Mega Sentries can be picked up with Door Gunner (example shown here).
Red Sentry Paragon[]
Red Sentry Paragon is one of three Mega Sentries built by the Master Builder. Alongside spawning Modified Paragon Sentries, the Red Mega Sentry attacks bloons by producing sunrays in a similar way to a cross between Sun Avatar and The Anti-Bloon, shooting four red sunrays per shot in an angular spray. Can detect camo.
- Damage Type: Plasma
- Camo Detection: Yes
- Damage: 5, +5 (Elite Boss) [Degree 1]
- Pierce: 10 [Degree 1]
- Range:: 70
- Attack Speed: 0.05s [Degree 1]
- Targeting Priorities: First, Last, Close, Strong
Green Sentry Paragon[]
Green Sentry Paragon is one of three Mega Sentries built by the Master Builder. Alongside spawning Modified Paragon Sentries, the Green Mega Sentry attacks bloons by producing a beam of purple plasma that resembles and operates like Plasma Accelerator. Can detect camo.
- Damage Type: Plasma
- Camo Detection: Yes
- Damage: Varies
- Laserbeam pointer: 100, +250 (Boss), +350 (Elite Boss) [Degree 1]
- Laserbeam: 20, +30 (Boss), +50 (Elite Boss) [Degree 1]
- Pierce: 10 [Degree 1]
- Range: 70
- Attack Speed: 0.2s [Degree 1]
- Targeting Priorities: Normal (but no Locked)
Blue Sentry Paragon[]
Blue Sentry Paragon is one of three Mega Sentries built by the Master Builder. Alongside spawning Mini Paragon Sentries, the Blue Mega Sentry fires a rocket similar to the M.A.D, dealing damage and extra damage to MOAB-Class Bloons. Can detect camo.
- Damage Type: Normal
- Camo Detection: Yes
- Damage: Varies
- Missile: 0, +750 (MOAB-class), +750 (Elite Boss) [Degree 1]
- Explosions: 3, +3 (Elite Boss) [Degree 1]

- Range:: 70
- Attack Speed: 0.5s [Degree 1]
- Targeting Priorities: First, Last, Close, Strong
Modified Paragon Sentry[]
Modified Paragon Sentry is a miniature sentry that is deployed by all Paragon Sentries. All Modified Paragon Sentries are identical in functionality; shooting plasma balls like a typical Champion Sentry. Just like Champion Sentries, they explode 19 seconds after deployment. Can detect camo. Is affected by Vigilant Sentries Monkey knowledge, increasing that lifespan to 24s.
Plasma:
- Damage Type: Plasma
- Camo Detection: Yes
- Damage: 4, +2 (MOAB-Class), +4 (Boss), +10 (Elite Boss) [Degree 1]

Where T(x,y,z) and C(x, y, z) are functions with three parameters corresponding to tier numbers, S1 and similar are the number of Tier 4 upgrades of each path, and L1 and similar are the sums of Tier 2 crosspaths from each of the Tier 4 upgrades:
T(5,0,0) + T(0,5,0) + T(0,0,5) + S1 * T(4,0,0) + S2 * T(0,4,0) + S3 * T(0,0,4) + L1 * C(2,0,0) + L2 * C(0,2,0) + L3 * C(0,0,2)
Substitute each of these functions with the respective tower costs (e.g. Sentry Champion → T(5,0,0) → $36,375 if Medium prices are used). Use Wolfram Alpha or similar to plonk in specific combinations.

Summary[]
The Master Builder is a DPS-oriented Paragon whose main damage comes from up to three special Mega Sentries that produce their own plasma sentries and unique attacks, as well as being able to stun against all Bloons below BAD. As such, positioning is key for the main Paragon and its Mega Sentries. Since the Master Builder lacks any variant of traps or else-buffing options (only self-buffs itself at the start of each round), Master Builder mostly acts as a pure DPS option without an option for instakills or buffing benefits. One major asset of the Master Builder comes from its Mega Sentry explosions, which can be utilized for massive on-demand damage.
Like Navarch of the Seas (Monkey Buccaneer Paragon), Master Builder is considerably easier to accumulate maximum pops compared to other Paragons, as it has a quite expensive Tier 4 option available in the form of Overclock, and most importantly also has an income generation option in the form of Bloon Traps. In the process of strategizing maximum pops, make use of the Sentry Champion and XXXL Trap for accumulating the biggest contribution of pops. The use of multiple Overclocks to boost every other tower involved in maximizing pops for the Engineer may also help reach the maximum pop count for Paragon Degrees, or simply boost farm production.
Tips[]
- To get a degree 20 paragon, the player can buy 25 0-2-2 Engineers with Deconstruction and Pin to fulfill the 100 upgrade tiers requirement and $25,800 cash for a cheap degree 20 (21 on Hard/Impoppable).
- 2-4-0 Overclock is the most expensive non-Tier 5 Engineer able to be sacrificed. However, 2-0-4 and 0-2-4 Bloon Traps helps accumulate cash for a higher degree. On the same note, multiple Overclocks can be utilized for boosting higher-tier Banana Farms and maximize attack speed of all involved Engineers, making Overclock spam a great choice, especially for Boss Bloon Events where they are used to maximize the income of Banana Research Facilities.
- In order to get maximum cost and upgrade amount gains, one must buy 17 Engineers. Although 16 2-4-0 Engineers are sufficient enough to cover the $250,000 which will grant maximum power in the money spent area, it is not enough to cover the 100 upgrade requirement which is necessary for maximum power gained from that area.
- Most of the buildup of pops will come from an optimized Sentry Champion and optimized XXXL Trap. In fact, XXXL Trap has the dual benefit of high pops and cash generation, resulting in a massive pop increase. Regular Bloon Traps also are helpful as well, also accumulating extra cash per pop.
- For the extreme late-game, XXXL Trap fares far better than Sentry Champion for pops due to the intense ramping of MOAB-Class Bloons.
- Combine XXXL Trap with Rubber to Gold, Monkey City, and even a Support Temple for even more income. Note that the cash per pop boost from Support Temples stack, making multiple Sun Temples a viable way to quickly increase the Master Builder's degree, especially if Paragon Power Totems are unavailable.
- Pairing the XXXL Trap with Monkey Wall Street is useful to minimize micro, as it can pick up the trap automatically. This also helps anti-stall rounds on Boss Bloon Events.
- Because cash generation from XXXL Trap depends on cash from popping bloons, its income is lower per trap in later rounds. It still helps for working towards a higher degree Paragon, and should get enough for a degree 40 Master Builder in time for the Tier 5 Boss.
- Selling Mega Sentries is very helpful on Boss Bloon Events. Each act of selling the Mega Sentries can be used to deal extremely high damage. A Degree 60 Master Builder deals nearly 500 thousand damage per main sentry explosion. It is especially useful against Bloonarius and Dreadbloon, as Bloonarius lacks any immunity to skipping skulls, and Dreadbloon primarily only has the Support Immunity. It is necessary to constantly deploy sentries to make the most out of the Master Builder, as otherwise its damage output is subpar.
- Try to stockpile all 3 sentries before the boss arrives for best results. This can be done by getting the Master Builder 3 rounds in advance (1 for tier 3), and placing sentries as soon as the ability is up. Optimally, have the ability up again for another explosion.
- For Ranked Bosses, placing sentries over water with Arctic Wind or Carrier Flagship then selling will cause all 3 sentries to explode instantly without needing to sell the Master Builder. The same can be done using the Sun Temple, although Sun Temples create a delayed explosion and require more planning.
- Against Dreadbloon, it is possible to sell the Master Builder after reaching the Support immunity in Tier 5 to open up another Paragon slot, since it is useless at that point. Typically, Ascended Shadow and Apex Plasma Master are used for this, although on some maps, Glaive Dominus or Navarch of the Seas are also potential considerations.
- Master Builder is very useful against Normal Tier 3 and 4 Lych and Vortex, as one sentry explosion is usually enough to take out an entire skull. Against Lych, selling sentries heals it for 1% of its max health, so for Tier 5 Elite Lych, it is recommended to only sell them on weeks where Lych has reduced health, or use a Sun Temple to detonate them instead.
- Mega Sentry explosions can cause Vortex to skip skulls, as each explosion counts as a separate attack. To maximize burst damage, it is possible to explode four sentries nearly at once. This involves a tight timing window for placing a new sentry and selling the Master Builder after. It is significantly easier to use this strategy with a Sun Temple, as Temples cause a delayed explosion that gives more time to explode the fourth sentry. This strategy should only be attempted for fast Ranked Boss times.
- One can sell the Mega Sentries after beating the boss to minimize stealing pops for other types of towers that have Paragons.
- The benefit of Ultraboost in the buildup towards the Master Builder comes from stacking Ultraboost buffs on the best towers; however, this method requires more planning against Lych, which absorbs applied buffs, since Lych can absorb buffs too close to it. If ultraboosting towers, do it far away from Lych.
- This can still be very useful for the Banana Central, as if it is placed far away, Lych cannot sap buffs from it until Tier 5.
- Try to micromanage the Green Mega Sentry in order to get the most of its laserbeam. As the Locked option is unavailable, the player has no choice except to manually micro the laserbeam.
- To get the $1,950,000 on Medium valuation of manual sacrifices for Master Builder, one must spend exactly 120 worth of 2-4-0 Overclocks. Very few maps can support that many Engineers, and even then it requires occupying excessive amounts of the entire available land. For efficient cost sacrifices, place as many as humanly possible and spend the rest on the cash slider.

The Master Builder, as it is currently named, is the first Paragon whose teaser came after its being officially announced by Ninja Kiwi. It was announced in Ninja Kiwi's official Version 30.0 patch notes. However, according to Ninja Kiwi's Version 31.0 preview notes, Engineer Monkey Paragon is confirmed not to make a debut on Version 31.0, but rather in a later update. Engineer Monkey Paragon is fully confirmed by Ninja Kiwi to arrive in Version 32.0, according to their 13th May 2022 blog. Between then, Ninja Kiwi made minor hints of Engineer Monkey Paragon coming to the game soon, such as on their 22nd April 2022 blog.
Based on a localization file leak (revealed on this Reddit post by u/1610403csl), Master Builder can create Mega Sentries that build their own sentries. The description reads "Monkey engineering developed to perfection. Creates three Mega Sentries that can build their own sentries." The internal name for the Paragon reportedly is the Master Builder, which has yet to confirmed as of the time of this leak.
On the June 3rd 2022 blog, Ninja Kiwi confirmed once again that the Engineer Monkey Paragon will be arriving soon, and also confirmed two future Paragons, Monkey Ace Paragon and Wizard Monkey Paragon.
Ninja Kiwi once again confirmed Engineer Monkey Paragon for Version 32.0, this time additionally confirming the date at which Version 32.0 will come. On their official Contested Territory sneak peak, Version 32.0 was confirmed to arrive in July 2022. However, the update has been delayed slightly, instead released on August 3rd 2022.
Ninja Kiwi would later post a new teaser on Twitter, posted on June 25th 2022, revealing the Paragon's appearance, idle animation, as well as officially using what was presumably the Paragon's name, Master Builder.
On the Version 32.0 update preview, released on July 21st 2022, the name "Master Builder" was finalized in Ninja Kiwi's Version 32.0 update preview.
The first in-game video of Master Builder was only partially shown an early access video by Tewtiy showcasing Contested Territory. Specifically at 4:07 of the video, the costs and XP requirements of the upgrade, as well as its upgrade description, are revealed.
On August 2nd, 2022, Ninja Kiwi uploaded their Version 32.0 update video on their YouTube account, showcasing the first official gameplay of the Master Builder. As shown there, the Master Builder is able to create 3 different Mega Sentries, which, in turn, build their own sentries. It will also automatically overclock itself at the start of every round. The video also displays an ability for the Master Builder, later revealed to deploy and redeploy its Paragon Sentries.

Trivia[]
- Before the 27.0 update (in which Paragons were introduced), the 5-x-x Engineer was known as the Sentry Paragon. It is now named Sentry Champion since Version 28.0.
- The Master Builder is the first Support Monkey paragon to be released.
- The Master Builder is the first Paragon who belongs to a tower that was released via updates.
- Master Builder was at the time of its release, the most expensive single upgrade in game, surpassing Ascended Shadow which previously held that record. That record was since passed onto the next Paragon, Goliath Doomship.
- Master Builder is the first paragon to have an animated teaser instead of the paragon card format.
Ninja Kiwi Blogs[]
- It can be implied on Ninja Kiwi's 22nd April 2022 blog that Master Builder is under development as of the aforementioned date of the blog. They did long before announce the introduction of Master Builder back in the Version 30.0 patch notes, which dates back to February 8th 2022.
- Ninja Kiwi also referred to Master Builder using male pronouns.
Cultural References[]
- The Master Builder's machine, particularly its mechanical limbs, are highly based on P-5000 Powered Work Loader from Aliens movie.
- The Master Builder's machine is also highly based on the Construct-o-Mech, a four-armed bipedal machine with a similar design, which derives from The LEGO Movie.
- The aforementioned movie also had a class of people known as Master Builders, which match the name of the Paragon itself.
- The Master Builder's Sentry's Exterior resembles the Metal slug series' Rebel Army.
- Master Builder entire exterior look like resembles Ape escape series's Boss fight.
- A possible coincidence is that the Master Builder shares similarities with the Master Builder from Clash of Clans. They both share the same name, build things, and use a mech.
