BTDB2

Heavy Kylie boomerang hits MOAB-Class Bloons multiple times per throw and sometimes knocks them back a short way along the path.
~ BTDB2 description

MOAB Press is the 4th upgrade on Path 3 of the Boomerang Monkey in Bloons TD Battles 2. It is similar to its BTD6 counterpart, except the upgrade costs much more and knockback kylies have a weaker effect against ZOMGs.

It adds an additional boomerang attack that pushes back MOAB-Class Bloons while dealing 5 damage per 0.1s contact, dealing about up to 12 hits. The pierce of these special boomerang attacks is 200 (300 with Improved Rangs, and 420 with Glaives). These special boomerang attacks trigger only on any MOAB-class bloon except BADs, only hit and damage MOAB-class bloons, and are thrown every 10.0s (every 7.5s with Faster Throwing or every 5.625s with Faster Rangs). Knockback kylies knock back blimps on a per contact basis, MOABs by 2.4 units, BFBs by 1.2 unit, ZOMGs by 0.42 units, and visible DDTs by 0.6 units.

It costs $3400, and is unlocked with purchase of Boomerang Monkey.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

Pushing back slower groups of blimps is a very valuable option against MOAB-class bloons, particularly at countering blimp rushes sent by the opponent. This is an extremely effective option against MOABs, BFBs, and ZOMGs, but not DDTs or BADs.

Tips[]

  • 2-0-4 offers better knockback over 0-2-4, but 0-2-4 attacks much faster. In general, 0-2-4 does better, given that opponent blimp rushes aren't usually going to be so dense that anti-MOAB boomerangs are going to get blocked out. However, 2-0-4 can be superior compared to 0-2-4 if needing to make its first hit, given the higher knockback.
  • Assuming the 0-2-4 crosspath, which has the higher attack speed, it takes 2 MOAB Presses to infinitely stall a MOAB, 3 MOAB Presses to infinitely stall a BFB, and 5 to infinitely stall a ZOMG.

Version History[]

Initial release (compared to BTD6 during Version 28.0)
  • NERF MOAB Press price increased ($2200 → $2400)
  • BUFF MOAB Press special boomerangs can now hit non-blimps but only if there was a blimp that triggers the special boomerang
1.0.4
  • NERF MOAB Press price increased ($2400 → $2700)
1.0.6
  • NERF MOAB Press price increased ($2700 → $3200)
1.1.1
  • NERF MOAB Press knockback distance versus ZOMGs decreased (0.5 → 0.35)
  • NERF [bug fix] MOAB Press's knockback kylies no longer target non-blimp bloons
1.5.0
  • BUFF No longer requires 9,500 XP to unlock. Players who have unlocked this upgrade before the update will not receive a full refund.
3.3.2
  • NERF MOAB Press: $3200 -> $3400
    • Total price change is $0, as Kylie Boomerang costs $200 less
We would like to give some more love to Kylie Boomerang since this upgrade has always been the less favorable of the tier 3 Boomerangs. MOAB Press has had its price adjusted since it didn’t need any indirect buffs. [...]

4.0.2
  • BUFF Affected by Kylie Path 1 buff
4.2
  • BUFF Special kylie pushes back MOAB-class bloons by 2 → 2.4 units
While MOAB Press is certainly a solid upgrade and incredibly useful for things such as stalling ZOMGs, it’s not quite as effective at slowing down the faster MOABs.

Trivia[]

  • Prior to being patched in Version 1.1.1, it was possible to let MOAB Press obliterate Ceramics only if the blimp is at low enough health and the special boomerangs destroy the blimp. This would let the special boomerang destroy bloons too.
  • MOAB Press's $2400 upgrade cost in the initial release of BTDB2 has since been ported into BTD6 in a later update.
