“ | When damaged to a Skull level on its health bar, the Lych is ethereally immobilized as it revives undead MOAB class Bloons, releases the stiletto-fast Lych-Soul, and steals lives as long as it remains ethereal | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi, describing Lych-Soul in their Version 28.0 patch notes |
The Lych-Soul is a boss servant bloon spawned during the Lych boss bloon event. This bloon drains the player's health over time if it is alive and is spawned when Lych reaches a skull. It is spawned at the same time as the MOAB-class bloons resurrected by Lych, and guarantees to spawn at Lych's current location. While this bloon and the resurrected MOABs are alive, Lych can not be damaged. In a similar manner to boss bloons, the Lych-Soul cannot be instakilled and completely immune to instant health reduction by any means, including Ezili's MOAB Hex, Grand Saboteur ability, Legend of the Night passive ability, or Navarch of the Seas' special hook ability, or Megalodon’s instakill. However, it is uniquely vulnerable to all forms of mobility reduction from Paragons, such as Glaive Dominus' anti-MOAB glaives and Ascended Shadow's flash bombs and Shurikens stun effect or passive Bloon Sabotage effects.
Properties[]
Lych-Soul’s speed is exactly equal to that of a Red Bloon. Aside from vulnerability to mobility reduction sources attached to Paragons, Lych-Soul's immunities are the same as that of Lych itself. In fact, it is also considered a type of Boss Bloon, which makes Lych-Soul vulnerable to sources that deal extra damage to bosses.
Health[]
Lych-Soul's health is roughly 2% of the Lych counterpart's base health at each tier plus 1000 multiplied by its current tier.

Boss Tier | Lych-Soul Health |
---|---|
1 | 1,280 |

Life Draining[]
The Lych-Soul absorbs a certain number of lives for every 4 seconds it exists on the screen. The amount of lives it drains depends on its tier. Lych-Soul can drop lives down to 0 if there are enough lives to drain.

Strategy[]
Summary[]
Lych-Soul is a faster and smaller but much lower health version of Lych that drains the player's lives over time. Use standard countermeasures against Lych to pop Lych-Soul. Do it quickly, or else Lych-Soul will drain a substantial amount of lives off you dependent on its tier. Life regeneration methods can help accumulate a decent chunk of lives to offset the life draining.
Tips[]
- At earlier tiers, Sticky Bomb is an excellent choice against Lych-Soul. One or more Sticky Bomb may be required to destroy Lych-Soul. Combine this with other MOAB-class-popping towers such as MOAB Maulers.
- Overdrive + Embrittlement is another viable combo for beating Lych-Soul, combining multiple projectiles with the Embrittlement's debuff.
- MOAB Assassin can be used to defeat Lych-Soul in earlier tiers, and MOAB Eliminator can be added for higher tiers. For both options, time well, and don't just spam the ability on Lych without consideration of Lych-Soul coming out.
- Spike Storm is another suitable option against Lych-Soul, as the ability spikes carry over rounds and dish a lot of damage at once on command.
- Avatar of Wrath gets rid of Lych-Soul very quickly. This is quite notable at Elite Tier 2.
- Marketplace with the Healthy Bananas MK can add more lives, taking longer for the Lych Soul to drain all lives.

- Patched
- [31.2] Lych-Soul's health and speed unexplainably scales with freeplay ramping, which is not the behavior of Boss Bloons including Lych-Soul (which constitutes a Boss Bloon). Patched in 32.0.

Trivia[]
- Lych-Soul is the first bloon that is technically a Boss Bloon and also has a parent. The second bloon to share this property are Dreadbloon: Armored Behemoth's Dreadrock Bloons, although they cannot be targeted by some target blimp attacks, such as Sticky Bomb and MOAB Assassin.
- Lych-Soul being able to instantly trigger game over by draining all player lives is similar to the pre-3.1 COBRA's Attrition in Bloons TD Battles Mobile, which could deplete an opponent's lives below 1.
- According to Ninja Kiwi's 17th June 2022 blog, Lych-Soul's freeplay scaling bug is confirmed by Ninja Kiwi to be fixed in Version 32.0.
