“ | The fully unleashed wrath of the Abyssal Creature brings the power of the depths to the surface, annihilating most Bloons, and greatly enhancing the pierce of nearby Monkeys. | ” |
~ In-game descripion |
Lord of the Abyss is the fifth and final upgrade of Path 1 for the Mermonkey in Bloons TD 6. Tentacles become extra powerful, and likewise so do the Mermonkey's tridents. The Abyss's pierce buffs give even more pierce to nearby towers. Additionally, the Lord of the Abyss is uniquely capable of allowing water towers such as Monkey Subs, Monkey Buccaneers, Admiral Brickell, and aquatic beasts from Beast Handler to be placed on land within capped 33 range, and it additionally counts amphibious towers as land towers.
Tentacles now deal 50 damage, 80 pierce, 24 slap radius, and 1.5s attack cooldown. Trident projectile's pierce increases from 2 to 9, attack cooldown from 0.804s to 0.402s, projectile lifespan increased to 0.667s. Trident's piercing area-of-effect increases damage from 2 to 10. Due to an oversight, the ink slowdown on non-blimps is reduced from 40% to 20%, and the slowdown to MOABs and BFBs reduces from 28% to 10%. The percentage pierce buff improves from +15% to +30%.
This upgrade costs $24,650 on Easy, $29,000 on Medium, $31,320 on Hard, and $34,800 on Impoppable.

Targeting Priorities[]
Lord of the Abyss targets bloons using the standard targeting priorities. Its trident attack shoots straight movement projectiles.
- First: Targets the first bloon visible within its range.
- Last: Targets the last bloon visible within its range.
- Close: Targets the closest bloon visible within its range.
- Strong: Targets the strongest bloon visible within its range.
Adding Echosense Precision grants camo detection to the Mermonkey, but does not add the Camo Prioritization targeting option.

Summary[]
Lord of the Abyss is unique, as its main perk is aquaforming land, allowing water towers to be placed nearby, a unique interaction that cannot be done by any other non-power tower (i.e. other than Portable Lake). In addition, the various additional bonuses to percentage pierce buffs, trident strength and its improved inking, and the much higher damage of tentacles offer additional support to the defenses.
Tips[]
- If the Lord of Abyss is planned for aquaforming land, try to leave some space for some water towers, such as a First Strike Capability Sub.
- If opting for support, the 5-0-2 crosspath is better for the extra range. However, 5-2-0 may be better if opting for DPS. Note that the 5-0-2 doesn't improve the range of the aquaforming.
- Because all range buffs don’t affect the aquaforming range, not even internal crosspathing, the limited extra water space is even more important.
- On wide open space, such as Firing Range’s dirt, the Lord of the Abyss can support up to about 10(?) Buccaneers and 15(?) Subs.
- Note that aquatic beasts from Beast Handler cannot reposition aquatic beasts into other regions of the Lord of the Abyss's water, nor transport from real water into Lord of the Abyss's water. So, an aquatic beast bought without range of any non-abyssal water will have it permanently remain in the spot it spawned on.
- Favored Trades can be used in combination with Lord of the Abyss, yet still able to profit from extra sellback across very large swarms of expensive Farms, although Favored Trades tends to prefer Special Poperations + Door Gunner if possible.
- Even on maps with water, the Lord of the Abyss opens up more water space that has a unique benefit compared to the currently available water. For instance, avoiding Deadly Master of Air.
