Long Reach 0-0-1
Long Reach is the 1st upgrade of Path 3 for the Spike Factory in Bloons TD Battles 2. It increases the Spike Factory's range by +8 units, from 34 to 42 units, and it increases projectile lifespan of all its spikes from 40 seconds to 75 seconds, or +50% for Spike Storm ability spikes (0-4-1: 10s to 15s; 0-5-2: 20s to 30s).
It costs $150, and is unlocked with purchase of the Spike Factory.
Strategy[]
Summary[]
Long Reach adds both more range and extra lifespan. The most important aspect is the extra lifespan, which helps a Spike Factory pile up a potentially bigger stockpile if enough time elapses. The extra range matters very little unless there is very limited space on the screen, which rarely occurs when Long Reach actually becomes useful. When used as a crosspath, it sees best use in combination with Spiked Balls, due to the mid-game benefits of Spiked Balls at tanking bloons of various types.
Tips[]
- 1-0-1 offers much of a bonus to stockpiling potential for a low cost.
- 3-0-1 (especially with 3-0-2 for the start-of-round bonus) allows for gradual large stockpiles.
Version History[]
- Initial release (compared to BTD6 during Version 28.0)
Long Reach no longer has a round-based duration
- 1.0.2
No longer requires 120 XP to unlock. Players who unlocked this upgrade before the update will receive a full refund.
- 3.1
xx1 Long Reach: spike duration 100s -> 75 (xx3 unchanged at 170)
“ | The duration increase from Long Reach in addition to the start of round speed boost from Smart Spikes has resulted in xx2 being the dominant crosspath choice for Spiked Balls. We have lowered the duration so that there should be more choice between the crosspaths. xx3’s duration remains unchanged and xx4 has been buffed so that these upgrades can offer an alternative option. | ” |
