Lock-On Behavior is an attack behavior characterized by a seeking attack that ignores all other potential targets in the way to hit its initial target. It is part of the damage types family.
Lock-On Behavior is represented on the Bloons Wiki as , the upgrade artwork for The Swarm in Bloons TD 4 Mobile, which depicts a swarm of bees likely seeking out bloons. Lock-On behavior is a unique form of Seeking that will pursue its target and will not stop until it pops the target or the target leaves the screen entirely, regardless of whether any other target gets in the way. If the target gets out of range, the attack will continue to either attach or seek its target.
Lock-On is different from Snipe in that there is no instantaneous damage when acquiring a target. This is either through damage coming after locking on, such as the plasma path in Bloons Super Monkey, or the usage of a projectile, such as the case of the Beekeeper and Gyrfalcon.
Inferno Ring meteors is a basic example of Lock-On Behavior. When the Inferno Ring meteor acquires a target, it will continue to pursue the target until it either successfully catches up to it, the target is popped by other sources of damage, or the target leaves the screen entirely (such as leaking). Once it catches up to its target, it hit the target, and it will repeat the process for each bloon until it runs out of pierce or no more bloons remain. In the latter case, the meteors will orbit the screen until it can repeat the process again or they despawn.
Known sources of Lock-On[]
Bloons TD 6[]
- Inferno Ring's meteor will always prioritize damaging its initial target, and any target in the way is ignored. If it has extra pierce, the meteor will repeat this for the next target. If no bloons are on screen when a meteor is still there, the meteor will orbit until a new target spawns.
- MOAB Assassin and MOAB Eliminator abilities. If the target is immune to projectiles, it orbits until it despawns or hits the target.
- All Bottom Path Beast Handlers starting from Gyrfalcon
Bloons TD 5[]
- MOAB Assassin ability.
- Beekeeper (Special Agent) and Beekeeper Pro's bees, both from normal attacks and the ability, possess Lock-On Behavior. Any bloon that gets in the way of the bee's intended targets are ignored.
Bloons TD 4 Mobile[]
- Beekeeper tower's bees also ignore any bloons in the way.
Bloons Super Monkey[]
- All plasma path upgrades starting from Plasma Tentacle, although the attacks itself is hitscan, the damage is delayed.
