Shoots powerful blasts of laser instead of darts
~ BTDB2 description

Laser Blasts is the Tier 1 upgrade of Path 1 for the Super Monkey in Bloons TD Battles 2. As with its BTD6 counterpart, Laser Blasts makes the Super Monkey shoot lasers instead of darts, popping up to 2 bloons per shot and popping Frozen Bloons but not Purple Bloons.

It costs $1,400.

Description[]

Laser Blasts adds a pair of laser goggles, covering the whole of Super Monkey's eyes. The Super Monkey appears somewhat angry in its portrait.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

Laser Blasts increases the pierce of the Super Monkey by 1, essentially doubling its popping power compared to not having any upgrades, and allows it to pop Frozen Bloons. However, the cost-efficiency of Super Range at providing both range and pierce often renders the lone Laser Blasts upgrade less useful, with the only exception being if planning to further upgrade to Plasma Blasts or wanting to add a crosspath with Knockback.

Tips[]

  • Extra pierce is good for the Super Monkey, but do not stop at Laser Blasts. Go for Plasma Blasts as soon as possible, though Laser Blasts is a rather decent stepping stone towards that upgrade.
  • If there are Purples, be cautious about it. Add anti-Purple support like Bloonjitsu or Alchemists.
  • Unlike the preceding Bloons TD Battles Mobile game, Laser Blasts does not create more projectiles in Bloons TD Battles 2, as each shot from Laser Blasts counts as one projectile despite visually having two projectiles.

Version History[]

Just a small price reduction.

Initial release (compared to BTD6 Version 28.0)
  • BUFF Laser Blasts price reduced ($2,500 → $2,300).
3.1
  • BUFF Laser Blasts cost decreased ($2300 -> $1400)
    • Overall price decrease is $1200 due to base Super buff.
We have made significant adjustments to a lot of Super Monkey’s upgrades, as we feel like Super Monkey is not and has never been properly balanced for this game. While its main strength is its late game and we want to keep it that way, we do not think it should be to the extent where it has almost no use in the early/mid game. Therefore, we are making some pretty big price cuts to the early tiers, while adjusting the tier 3s to balance out these price cuts so that they don’t become too strong. A lot of the higher tiers have either been too expensive or too inefficient to have any practical use in ranked matches, and we want to change that. [...]
