|“||Engineer can shoot further and deploy sentries in a larger area.||”|
|~ Official Description|
Larger Service Area is the second upgrade of the second path for the Monkey Engineer in BTD5. This upgrade increases the range of the Monkey Engineer to near that of a Super Monkey with the Epic Range upgrade.
In BTD6, this upgrade makes a return as the first upgrade of Path 2 for the Engineer Monkey. This upgrade doubles the range of the Engineer Monkey. Unlike BTD5, this upgrade is required for the Cleansing Foam upgrade. It costs $550 on Medium.
Tips (BTD5 generation)Edit
Experienced players consider this upgrade not only a money waste, but also a detriment to its power. Sentries (alongside Cleasing Foams and Bloon Traps) will be deployed further, which at first may seem to cover more area, but will decrease the strength of the sentries due to less sentries shooting at one spot and thus causes less bloons to be popped. If another part of the track is too close, Larger Service Area may intersect that part and may place Cleansing Foams and Bloon Traps there, which can be deterrent if it is the end of the track.
However, Larger Service Area still has a few useful outcomes. It can make it easier to aim the main tower's nailgun further away for more long-range linear popping power. Larger Service Area can also be made easier to spam in Bloon Trap Engineers once the screen is nearly completely running out of space for 4/0 Bloon Trap Engineers, where 4/2 Bloon Trap Engineers can be used to fill the other gaps in the screen.
