“ | Hurls a giant spiked ball that pops lead and excels at crushing Ceramic and Fortified Bloons. | ” |
~ In-game description |
Juggernaut is the fourth upgrade of Path 1 for the Dart Monkey in Bloons TD 6. It deals 2 damage (+3 to Ceramics and +2 to Fortified bloons), as well as popping Frozen and Lead Bloons. Juggernaut balls each have 50 pierce (51 with "Extra Dart Pops" MK). It also increases attack speed from per 1.15s to 1s, while retaining 36.8 range. Juggernauts additionally have greater projectile speed (from 100 (?) to 150) and a larger projectile size (3 (?) to 7) compared to its preceding Spike-o-pult upgrade. Juggernaut balls also inflict a speed-based knockback for 0.1s (300% backwards, 150% backwards for Leads and Ceramics, and does not affect MOAB-Class Bloons), functioning similarly to Buckshot. Like the Spike-o-pult, Juggernaut balls can rehit the same targets after bouncing off obstacles.
This upgrade costs $1,530 on Easy, $1,800 on Medium, $1,945 on Hard, and $2,160 on Impoppable.
Description[]
Overview[]
This upgrade causes the catapult to upgrade into an onager inspired by Ancient Roman engineering, a medieval theme, and is made mostly of stone instead of wood, and has its wheels painted yellow. Black spiked balls are replaced by much larger spiked balls, colored black with large grey tips and yellow rims around the pointy extrusions. The Juggernaut catapult also receives two yellow shields attached to each of the front frames of the catapult. When attacking, the operator monkey launches the catapult each time, and after each shot constantly reloads the balls by hand.
When given crosspaths, the monkey does not receive accessories, instead painted on the catapult. With Path 2 crosspaths, the front frames of the catapult changes color to green (Quick Shots) or red (Very Quick Shots). With Path 3 crosspaths, the color of the shields placed in the middle of each of the front frames are painted green (Long Range Darts) or red (Enhanced Eyesight).
Juggernaut improves the spiked ball of its previous upgrade, giving it +1 base damage (2) and +3 additional damage to Ceramics (5 total), as well as granting it a total of 50 pierce. The ball is also Normal type, able to pop any type of bloon, but still does not pop camo. Additionally, attack speed increases as well, from an attack cooldown of 1.15 seconds to 1 second. Juggernauts also inflict a knockback equivalent to Buckshot for 0.1s on affected bloons. Range is larger than the base Dart Monkey, at 36.8.
Targeting Priorities[]
Juggernaut targets bloons using the standard targeting priorities. It shoots a straight movement projectile.
- First: Targets the first bloon visible within its range.
- Last: Targets the last bloon visible within its range.
- Close: Targets the closest bloon visible within its range.
- Strong: Targets the strongest bloon visible within its range.
Adding Enhanced Eyesight adds Camo Prioritization, allowing all its attacks to prioritize Camo Bloons over other types when this secondary targeting option is active.

Strategy[]
Summary[]
Juggernaut is a decent option for dealing high Ceramic damage along straight lines. It also serves as the Dart Monkey's cheapest lead-popping option compared to getting Crossbow Master or Plasma Monkey Fan Club. However, the combined increased price tag plus the existence of alternate good anti-Ceramic options makes Juggernaut struggle to outcompete more cost-efficienct options. Juggernaut projectiles do move pretty quickly, have large hitboxes, and bounce off obstacles, making it work well against both straight lines and within areas with lots of obstacles.
Tips[]
- The Juggernaut is best placed at the end of a long, straight path and a target priority of last or close to make best use of its long range and high pierce. However, the Juggernaut's projectiles can also bounce off of objects that stop most other projectiles, potentially bouncing back and popping Bloons multiple times, and even reaching Bloons behind sight-blocking objects if positioned just right.
- The Force vs Force MK allows the Juggernaut to do 4 damage instead of 2 to MOAB Class Bloons.
Version History[]
Balance Changes[]
Juggernaut originally had a special niche of providing very high popping power along straight lines, perfectly viable for Race Events, but has since been adjusted to become more practical as general grouped damage option. This was because newer players generally found this upgrade to be too niche or even underpowered, according to Ninja Kiwi. It has also been further buffed to add specialization against Ceramics in both damage and an additional knockback, and also more damage to Fortified plus being able to rehit bloons after bouncing off walls.
In general, it was buffed overall in general cases but nerfed overall under Race Events scenarios.
- Initial release (compared to BTD5)
- Juggernaut cost increased ($1500 → $1800)
- 23.0
“ | While we're happy with Dart Monkey being a more niche or early use tower, too many people were finding Juggernaut itself even further niche or lackluster on first impression. While retaining the overpower power potential we've added a beefy impact to each individual target hit, and [...]. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- Juggernaut damage increased (1 → 2)
- Juggernaut pierce decreased (100 → 50)
- 30.0
“ | Juggernaut relying on ricochets felt too niche in the current game, sadly excelling in far too few situations, so instead the Ceramic damage strength has been increased leading a little better into the T5 and benefiting it in more general straight line situations. [...] | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- Juggernaut bonus damage to Ceramics increased (+2 → +3)
- 31.0
“ | To add a little more synergetic crosspath use for the Juggernaut 402 crosspath, xx2 will now also grant bonus projectile lifespan, this applies to any use of that crosspath though we feel it will in particular pair nicely with the ricocheting projectiles. Juggernaut in general is also seeing a small utility knockback buff to help it carry on a little longer into the game. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- Juggernaut now applies a speed-based knockback onto non-blimp bloons similarly to Buckshot except for 0.1s.
- 34.0
“ | While not appreciated by all because of a lack of map situations it applies well in, we enjoy the quite specific niche that Juggernaut fills. However, we wanted to make some minor tweaks allowing it to apply itself better against fortified ceramics & reducing the exceptionally high ultra-juggernaut secondary balls pierce in favour of damage that can be more reliably used up | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- Juggernaut now deal +2 Fortified bloons damage on top of the new damage buff
- Juggernaut now can rehit bloons if the juggernaut bounces off walls

Trivia[]
- Juggernaut is currently the cheapest Tier 4 upgrade in BTD6 for both the upgrade price alone and cumulative cost.
- The monkey winking in the artwork looks almost the same as the one that shows up when the player levels up or beats a map on most game modes in single player.
