Hard Tacks

Hard Tacks is an upgrade in the Primary Monkey Knowledge tree introduced in the initial version of Bloons TD 6. Once activated, any Tack Shooter can pop Frozen Bloons. To unlock Hard Tacks, the player must have the 'Fast Tack Attacks' MK unlocked. Note that despite functionally giving Tack Shooters Shatter type attacks, Tack Shooters that normally have Sharp type damage can still be buffed by Geraldo's Sharpening Stone.

Summary[]

Hard Tacks is a rather useful Monkey Knowledge as Tack Shooters and Ice Monkeys often make a great pair. Middle and bottom path Ice Monkeys can freeze bloons in place around the Tack Shooter to pop, and the save-up to Embrittlement in the top path is much easier when the Tack Shooter can pop Frozen Bloons. Also, Hard Tacks opens up additional synergies with Ice Shards, allowing any Tack Shooter, including the cheap high-pierce Super Range Tacks, to trigger the shards.

Tips[]

With this MK, Ice Monkeys around Tack Shooters become much more valuable, freezing Bloons in place around the typically short range of Tack Shooters.
Unlike without Hard Tacks, it may be beneficial to place a Tack Shooter close to an Ice Monkey, in order to hit Bloons within tight locations to take advantage of the Bloons that were recently frozen.
