“ | Gwendolin believes there hasn't yet been a Bloon problem that can't be solved with fire. Lots of fire. | ” |
~ In-game Description |
Gwendolin is a Hero who appears since the initial release of Bloons TD Battles 2. She is the Battles counterpart to her Bloons TD 6 counterpart (refer on this page). She is unlocked for free by unlocking her in the Heroes menu. Previously, before Version 3.2, she was only unlockable by completing the fourth and final stage of Battle School.
Gwendolin shoots fire that pops 3 bloons each at Level 1, and further increases that pierce in higher levels, plus more fire bursts and extra effects like napalm. Heat-It-Up is a passively activated attack that occurs upon every pre-determined shot directly from her at a very slow rate (plus 4.5s minimum cooldown), burning all bloons within her range with 3 damage and boosting all nearby towers with +1 pierce and popping of Frozen and Lead for up to 10 seconds. As she levels up (Levels 12, 15, 18), she attacks faster but her Heat-It-Up requires more shots before activation, slightly counteracting total uptime of the Heat-It-Up buff without external speed buffs. At Level 6+, her flames gain napalm that damage bloons over time. At Level 17+, Gwendolin's Heat-It-Up additionally grants bonus damage to all bloons and even more to Leads (including visible DDTs).
Gwendolin has two activated abilities: Cocktail of Fire (Level 3+) and Firestorm (Level 10+). Cocktail of Fire drops a Wall of Fire type attack onto any section nearby her range by a selected point. Firestorm sets all the bloons on fire and provides an enhanced Heat It Up for all towers on screen.
She costs $700 to place.
Hero Alts[]
Scientist Gwendolin[]
Scientist Gwendolin is a Hero Alt of Gwendolin in Bloons TD Battles 2. Instead of being a pure reskin of a hero, Scientist Gwendolin offers a variety of sidegrades compared to the original Gwendolin, offering a different playstyle. Unlike Bloons TD 6, Scientist Gwendolin's abilities and attacks focus on specializing extra damage to Frozen and Leads as well as producing more powerful but shorter-lasting fiery attacks with her improved Heat It Up passive attack and Science Storm activated ability.
Scienist Gwendolin has two activated abilities: Chemical Cocktail (Level 3+) and Science Storm (Level 10+). Her first ability, Chemical Cocktail, deals damage quicker but lasts shorter. Her second ability, Science Storm, applies stronger burn, lasts shorter on bloons, and applies the shorter Heat It Up effects.
She costs $700 to place.

Strategy[]
Summary[]
Gwendolin is best suited as a support hero, becoming better later on against grouped rushes with her Cocktail ability and her Heat It Up attack and buff. Her own attacks have good pierce and low damage, and while she can handle natural bloons, without help she is easily overwhelmed by stronger bloons.
Scientist Gwendolin has a bit different playstyle. Her Cocktail burns faster and more, but lasts shorter, making it suit better for tighter sends. Scientist's Heat it Up grants additional lead and frozen damage early on, but it requires more shots to trigger. And finally, her Firestorm is more destructive at the cost of afterburn duration.
Tips[]
- Tack is generally her best synergy, as she has high grouped-popping options and her Heat It Up buff greatly increases Tack pierce.
- Ninja Monkey is also a great option, as they benefit from lead-popping ability of her Heat It Up buff.
- Only her abilities and Heat It Up attack hit camo bloons, so it's best to use them for camo rushes.

Version History[]
Normal Gwendolin (Version History)[]
Although popular on release thanks to the heavy Tack Shooter meta, she has fallen off dramatically and is now considered to be one of the worst Heros in the game. This is due to her lack of utility, as you can’t control when her heat it up takes place. Her pierce buff is not considered significant enough early on, and the extra damage her Firestorm gives comes in too late to be effective. This has resulted in her being outclassed by just about every hero and being rarely used. When she’s used, it’s often reserved for tack and tack loadouts alone, such as Tack Ice/Glue Village or Tack Sub Farm
- Initial release (compared to BTD6 during Version 28.0)
- Normal Gwendolin's cocktail doesn't pop camo bloons
- Gwendolin's cocktail contact damage cooldown decreased (0.10s → 0.20s)

- Base price decreased $850 → $800
“ | We reduced Gwendolin and Scientist Gwendolin’s price in a previous update, however it did not have much effect, therefore we are reducing it again to encourage them to be used more often. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- 2.0.0
- Base price decreased $800 → $700
“ | Gwen is always among the lower-performing heroes so we are giving her another price reduction to help her compete with other more popular heroes | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- 2.1.0
- Level 4 Heat it Up duration 8s → 10s. Activates every 32 shots → 28 shots.
“ | We are increasing Heat it up’s uptime by increasing how often it activates. You can’t easily control when this buff is active, so making it more reliable felt like a sensible change to buff Gwen a little. | ” |

~ Ninja Kiwi |
- 3.3
- Cocktail of Fire max pierce per tick reduced from 40 to 26
“ | Both Gwendolins have exceptional level 3 abilities with their only weakness being purples, but if that can be avoided then they’re hugely effective in demolishing any early/mid-game rush. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
- 4.0.2
- Leveling curve: 1x Quincy → 1x Striker Jones (1x → 1.588x)
- Level 1: pierce reduced from 4 → 3
- Level 2: gives +1 → +2 pierce (pierce remains unchanged at 5)
- Cocktail of Fire damages every 0.2 → 0.24s
“ | Gwendolin is an exceptional hero, providing solid damage in the early game and great support later on with her Heat it up buff. We’ve made a few small adjustments, weakening her level 1 and level 3 DPS and altering the level curve so that she doesn’t reach level 10 quite so early. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
Scientist Gwendolin (Version History)[]
Science Gwen has been met with similar reception to her regular counterpart, that being underpowered and one of the worst heroes in the game. Unlike other hero alts, she and Gwen are considered to be fairly equal in terms of power and are swapped based purely on preference. Nonetheless, none of her changes addresses her counterpart’s weaknesses, and is thus similarly relegated to tack loadouts such as Tack-Ice-Village or Tack-Farm-Wiz.
