Grape Shot is the 1st upgrade on Path 2 of the Monkey Buccaneer in Bloons TD Battles 2. It gains an additional angular spray of 5 grapes per shot, just like its BTD6 counterpart. However, grapes are now always shot in both directions regardless if bloons are behind or not. When compared to Battles 1, grapes are able to be upgraded to shoot greater numbers of grapes or add extra pierce, and can be upgraded to Hot Shot for cheap lead-popping power and extra burn damage. However, all grapes have 1 pierce each, though grapes can go back to 2 pierce each if the Buccaneer is given the Long Range upgrade. Double Shot increases the number of grapes from 5 to 10.
Grape Shot is versatile, being usable against early spaced and grouped bloon rushes alike. Crosspaths for Grape Shot can influence the early-game tides to a noticeable advantage. The 0-1-0 crosspath is a fairly useful early-game option for taking down Round 1 rushes, and can be upgraded further along any crosspath depending on early-game needs. 0-1-1 doubles the grape pierce, making it arguably stronger in the early-game, while 1-1-0 and 2-1-0 pack more grapes per second to dish out more overall damage and pair better with external buffs.
Tips[]
In terms of crosspathing, 1-1-0 and 0-1-1 have their own use cases in the game that will serve equally viable advantages.
1-1-0 is harder to save up for but offers more versatility later on in the game with the increased number of grapes.
However, 0-1-1 is better in the short-term for breaking up Round 1 rushes easier and piercing through other early-game rushes later on.
