BTDB2
Glaives will bounce from Bloon to Bloon automatically and aggressively.
~ BTDB2 description

Glaive Ricochet is the 3rd upgrade of Path 1 the Boomerang Monkey in Bloons TD Battles 2. The bouncy nature of its original BTD6 counterpart is added alongside the pierce of a BMC Glaive Ricochet. Glaives bounce and have 40 pierce each, but do not ignore obstacles.

Glaive Ricochet's glaives now bounce from bloon to bloon as long as there are other bloons close by, but will still account for Line of Sight. It will not hit the same bloon more than once even if the glaive bounces in its direction. Each glaive now pops 40 bloons, and can bounce towards any bloon up to 62.5 units distance. Glaives are also thrown in a straight direction instead of curved, which is almost unnoticeable in most situations.

It costs $1,300, and is unlocked with purchase of Boomerang Monkey.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

Glaive Ricochet is extremely strong against regular bloons thanks to how much pierce and attack speed it has for its ricocheting boomerangs. It is enough to shred through bloons up to and including the early Spaced White and Spaced Black range, especially with crosspaths. Even early spaced rushes are not difficult to destroy, as spaced rushes aren't even spaced enough such that glaives expire too soon. Each different crosspath has different benefits; 3-2-0 offers faster shredding, while 3-0-2 more reliably shreds higher-tier bloons by gaining extra damage and skipping through layers.

Tips[]

  • Use crosspaths as appropriate, though 3-0-2 is usually better due to having innate lead-popping and better shredding of higher-tier bloons. 3-2-0 is easier to go for, however, due to 2-1-0 Glaives being a reliable early-game option.
  • This is a remarkably easy tower to use, however the AI bloons combined with the opponents bloons often confuses the glaive on what bloons to follow. Something like boosted Black Bloon round 6 might kill it.
  • The easiest tower combo with this tower is Boomerang, Monkey Village, Super Monkey. However a better option for higher arenas is Boomerang, Monkey Sub, Ninja Monkey.
  • Ricochet is unreliable on Koru, as the splitting paths confuse a Ricochet, causing the glaives to follow with the lane instead of against the lane; this chases the bloons unfavorably.

Version History[]

Its reliable shredding caused Ricochet to gain pricehikes.

Initial release (compared to BTD6 during Version 28.0)
  • NERF Glaive Ricochet price increased ($1300 → $1400)
  • NERF Glaive Ricochet has less pierce 50->40
1.0.4
  • NERF Glaive Ricochet price increased ($1400 → $1500)
1.5.0
  • BUFF No longer requires 2500 XP to unlock. Players who have unlocked this upgrade before the update will not receive a full refund.
1.10.3
Closer to launch, Boomerang was a very dominant tower in the early game. However, since then it has received multiple nerfs and the bloon send changes also had a big impact on its viability. Therefore, we have given it a slight buff to its early game so that it can regain more relevancy in the meta.
