“ | The biggest and most fierce dinosaur of them all, Giganotosaurus can shred almost any Bloon instantly and with ease. Stomp ability hits the whole map and lasts longer. Requires 3 additional Tyrannosaurus Handlers to control. | ” |
~ In-game description |
Giganotosaurus is the fifth and final upgrade of Path 2 for the Beast Handler in Bloons TD 6. The Giganotosaurus becomes extraordinarily large, ignoring Line of Sight and massively improves damage and range of all its attacks, and its now map-wide ability has increased stun duration and reduced cooldowns. Giganotosaurus requires merging with 3 other Tyrannosaurus Rex to unlock the Giganotosaurus upgrade. Maximum power is increased from 64 to 132, and the base power is 36 (although it's merged with 3 other T-Rexes by default, giving the Giganotosaurus 84 power, the supporting T-Rexes can be sold, resulting in the minimum power for the Giganotosaurus).
The Stomp ability now affects bloons on the whole screen, with default pierce increasing from 400 to 645 (minimum pierce increased to 600), default damage increasing from 150 to 550 (minimum damage remains at 150), stun effect duration to standard bloons from 6 to 12 seconds and 3 seconds for MOABs, 6 seconds for BFBs, 4 seconds for ZOMGs and DDTs. BADs and Bosses cannot be stunned at all. Cooldown of the ability reduces from 35s to 25s by default. Giganotosaurus's ability damage, pierce, and cooldown rate can improve via merging with other beasts, up to 950 damage, 1640 pierce, 15.5s cooldown, and penetrating through multiple MOAB-class layers but not stunning the resulting offspring.
Besides the improved ability, Giganotosaurus now has increased range from 30 to 50, base damage from 30 to 750 and pierce from 24 to 60, and bonus damage to stunned bloons is increased to roughly +33% across all beast power increments, starting from +250. At the default 84/132 power, base damage increases to 1150, damage to stunned bloons to 1533 (+383), and pierce to 105. However, the attack cooldown of minimum power Giganotosaurus is increased to 1.25 seconds from the previous tier, the default value at 84/132 beast power being 1.07805 seconds.
Merging increases damage at a ratio of 25 damage every 3 power, stunned bonus damage increases by 133 every 48 power, pierce at a ratio of 15 every 16 power, all of which round down statistic values. Attack cooldown decreases linearly a ratio of 0.3439s per 96 power. At max power, each bite deals up to 1550 damage, up to 2066 damage to stunned bloons (+516), and 150 pierce, also now penetrating damage through multiple MOAB-Class Bloons layers, if dealing enough damage to allow it to do so. Attack cooldown at max power decreases down to 0.9061 seconds.
This upgrade costs $51,000 on Easy, $60,000 on Medium, $64,800 on Hard, and $72,000 on Impoppable.
Description[]
Overview[]

Giganotosaurus and its handler
The Giganotosaurus upgrade changes the Tyrannosaurus Rex into a Giganotosaurus, an enormous purple theropod with a deep voice. Unlike the realistic depictions of the Giganotosaurus, the BTD6 Giganotosaurus resembles more like a much larger Tyrannosaurus Rex. In addition, the Beast Handler receives a lot of changes to his clothing. The handler holds a spear with four opposing curved horns in a mirrored formation, grey fur at the middle, and a variety of colored glyphs decorated on the upper base of it. He wears much more colored cloths along his waist, his scar between his eyes is now X-shaped, and most notably his headwear is the skull of a predatory theropod (most likely a Tyrannosaurus Rex) decorated with red-orange-and-yellow feathers in alternating colors.

Giganotosaurus at the default 84/132 power
Giganotosaurus is based on Giganotosaurus carolinii. However, the proportions of the in-game Giganotosaurus does not resemble Giganotosaurus at all, instead looking more like a larger version of the in-game Tyrannosaurus Rex. Giganotosaurus is colored purple, and has many more spikes across its back. It has bright blue eyes and a really large pair of jaws. Like T-Rex, the Giganotosaurus's idle animations and stomping animations remain similar to its predecessor. Upon upgrading beast power, the Giganotosaurus begins to have additional visual changes to it to signify its greater power. The first visual change is gaining additional black spikes across its tail, neck, and back. The second and final visual change at max power is tipping these black spikes with bright blue at the ends.
The Giganotosaurus increases its power to 36, but actually begins with 84 in most cases (except when placing an Insta-Monkey Giganotosaurus) due to the need for three other Tyrannosaurus Rex Handlers. Like most beasts, the T-Rex gains multiple statistic benefits from merging beasts into it. Giganotosaurus deals incredible damage and size per bite and stomp, and can attack much further, but the main attacks are much slower. Yet, its immense size is an advantage for this massive beast by ignoring Line of Sight obstacles completely.
Activated Abilities[]

Giganotosaurus Stomp Ability
Giganotosaurus is the 5th tier ability for the Beast Handler. It immediately deals 150 damage (550 with default 84 power) and stun bloons across the whole screen, up to 600 bloons for 12 seconds duration, with a shorter duration on MOAB-class bloons (MOABs = 3 seconds, BFBs = 6 seconds, ZOMGs and DDTs = 4 seconds). Cooldown of 25 seconds, reduced down to as low as about 15.5 seconds with maximum beast power. In a similar manner to other aspects of Beast Handler merging, Giganotosaurus's Stomp ability gains extra damage, extra pierce, and faster ability cooldowns with extra beast power.
Like all abilities, Giganotosaurus' ability cooldowns can be reduced by the global Energizer buff. Similarly, its ability cooldown can be reset by Geraldo's Rejuv Potion.
Targeting Priorities[]
As an upgraded Beast Handler, the Giganotosaurus Handler controls a terrestrial beast. It controls a Giganotosaurus. The beast of the Giganotosaurus Handler can be merged from weaker-tier terrestrial beasts to add energy, empowering the Giganotosaurus via a network of other Beast Handlers. This system utilises the Merge button to select a valid Beast Handler given sufficient energy capacity.
The Giganotosaurus' bite attack follows basic targeting priorities. It is considered a melee "projectile".
- First: Targets the first bloon visible within its range.
- Last: Targets the last bloon visible within its range.
- Close: Targets the closest bloon visible within its range.
- Strong: Targets the strongest bloon visible within its range.
Giganotosaurus' Stomp ability is locked on Close for purpose of pierce calculations.
Additionally, the Giganotosaurus Handler has a "Place Beast" button that places the Gigantosaurus and repositions it anywhere within valid range of the Beast Handler. Any contributing Beast Handlers will also grant range that allows repositioning of that beast.

Updated as of Version 39.3
- Base Stats
- Handler:
- Passive type, automatically places a Giganotosaurus beast on valid land within 60 range. Giganotosaurus consumes 1 footprint and gains access to Giganotosaurus Bite and Giganotosaurus Stomp. Can reposition the Giganotosaurus manually.
- Merge Beast Into Handler:
- Passive type, can merge beast into other x-5-x Beast Handlers, taking the Giganotosaurus away into the recipient in exchange for more beast power into the recipient. Can become shared neighboring range of the recipient if the host and recipient share ranges. If recipient is sold, place Giganotosaurus on valid land within 60 range.
- Merge Beast From Handler:
- Passive type, can merge beasts from other theropod Beast Handlers up to x-5-x into the host Giganotosaurus, gaining beast power absorbed from the recipient. Can share ranges with neighboring range of the recipient if the host and recipient share ranges. If recipient is sold, host Giganotosaurus loses beast power.
- Giganotosaurus Bite:
- Melee projectile, normal type, 50 range, 1.25s attack cooldown, 750 damage, 250 bonus stunned damage (1000 total stunned damage), 60 pierce. Giganotosaurus can ignore Line of Sight.
- Ability Stats
- Giganotosaurus Stomp Ability:
- Cooldown of 25s. Upon activation, activate Giganotosaurus Stomp.
- Giganotosaurus Stomp:
- Zone, normal type, affects whole screen, 150 damage, 600 pierce. Stuns bloons for 12 seconds, reduced duration on MOAB-class bloons (MOABs = 3 seconds, BFBs = 6 seconds, ZOMGs and DDTs = 4 seconds).
- Crosspathing interactions
Unlike the majority of towers in BTD6, the Beast Handler does not benefit from crosspathing. Each path spawns or upgrades a beast, rather than directly affecting the other crosspaths.

Strategy[]
Summary[]
Giganotosaurus is an expensive but effective DPS at large groups of Bloons. While the transition from four merged T-Rexes may be tough to afford into this T5, the Giganotosaurus has among the greatest potentials of all Beast Handlers for high grouped damage. Similarly to the MAD, the Giganotosaurus is a massive powerhouse against MOAB-class Bloons, and mainly preys on large numbers of Bloons below BADs.
Although it has a high pierce ability and a decent pierce main attack, which might seem like it is useful for races, the price, time spent getting merges, and a far weaker ability compared to that of The Anti-Bloon makes it not very favorable for these game modes.
In CHIMPS, the Giganotosaurus is among one of the most expensive yet affordable upgrades in the game. Much of the saveup on Giganotosaurus relies on optimising the Tyrannosaurus Rex, its previous upgrade, throughout the mid-game and early late-game. Cost-effective synergetic heroes such as Admiral Brickell and Geraldo are generally the best choices in combination with the transition to the Giganotosaurus.
Tips[]
- Overclock has strong synergy with Giganotosaurus, as it greatly increases its attack speed, making it much less weak to spaced bloons.
- It is recommended to get support for Giganotosaurus before upgrading, as a degree 84 Giganotosaurus without support will leak nearly all the ceramics of any round.
- In the transition to Giganotosaurus, the four T-Rexes merged into a single max T-Rex is a solid option, as its very fast ability cooldowns combined with blimp penetration in addition to much more general damage offer much of its power going into late-game.
- If you can save up around $98,000 with 4 T-rexes, you can directly upgrade and merge into a max degree Giganotosaurus, which can easily beat every round in CHIMPS provided it has camo detection.
- The maxed Giganotosaurus is very beneficial, as the capability to penetrate damage through MOAB-class bloons allows the Giganotosaurus's bites to one-shot MOABs and BFBs, instead of clumps of weaker bloon types.
- With an Energizer at max beast power, the improved stomp can perma-stall, particularly against MOABs.

Trivia[]
- Giganotosaurus has the highest Tier 5 Beast Handler upgrade cost by itself. However, considering the cost of the three Tier 4 upgrades, it is actually the second-most expensive Tier 5 Beast Handler, next to Megalodon.
- Giganotosaurus has an All Pops CHIMPS on Spillway, thanks to a feature in Spillway that allows dinosaurs to be placed along the edges of the central “bowl”. It even got an All Pops R140 CHIMPS, as shown on this r/btd6 post.
- Contrary to the information in game and most popular media, whether Giganotosaurus was larger than Tyrannosaurus is disputed. Giganotosaurus is consistently found to be longer, but in terms of weight Tyrannosaurus has been shown to be much heavier.
- Giganotosaurus is the only non-coelurosaurian theropod in game. Microraptor, Velociraptor, Adasaurus, Tyrannosaurus, and the birds are all coelurosaurian theropods.
