Friends is a functionality that is added to multiple games. It was first added to Bloons TD 6 on initial release, and also to Bloons Pop! in Version 2.0 (?). It allows in-game access that grants limited social connectivity. Initially, it must always require Facebook login, but in Version 30.0 (or which one? 31.0 for sure not) it is now optional. Friend Codes are added on Version 31.0 (?), which makes it easier to add new friends without needing external social media apps to contact.
You can add players met in social play to your friend list by clicking the info button next to the player's name before a match starts and clicking the green plus sign. They will then have the ability to accept the friend request in their social hub.
