Flash Bomb throwing a flash bomb

Flash Bomb is the 3rd upgrade of Path 3 for the Ninja Monkey in Bloons TD Battles 2. It is similar to its BTD6 counterpart except with a notably lower upgrade cost and more pierce but less damage. Bombs have 75 pierce and deal 1 damage each, and stun affected bloons for 1.0s. Flash bombs are thrown with every 3rd shuriken shot, effectively throwing one bomb every 2.1s (1.3s with 1-0-3). When given Counter-Espionage, each flash bomb gains an extra no-damage decamo blast of 65 blast radius and 75 pierce, in a similar way to Signal Flare.

It costs $1,800, and is available after unlocking Ninja Monkey.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

Flash Bomb gives the Ninja both grouped popping power and capability to stun bloons as a support option. In this game, it still costs more than Shell Shock but less than Bloon Impact, two alternative options to bloon stuns, with the main advantage of Flash Bomb being its camo-popping. Flash Bomb provides the Ninja Monkey's only independent lead-popping and reduces progression of bloons including Ceramics.

Tips[]

  • Either crosspath works better in their given situations. 0-2-3 is for decamoing groups of bloons, while 1-0-3 is for the faster rate of bomb throwing. 2-0-3 is not necessary unless it's for adding a little more shuriken pierce.

2.1

"Despite Ninja Monkey being common in many top strategies over the seasons, Flash Bomb has never been a popular upgrade. We’ve bumped up

its pierce and stun length so that hopefully it becomes a more appealing option.

3.1
  • BUFF xx3 Flash Bomb price decreased ($2000 -> $1800)
    • Overall price decrease is $300, due to base Ninja and Caltrops buff.
Ninja Monkey is a little bit lacking in early game popping power, only being effectively utilised when paired with another tower like an Alchemist. We have made some price cuts and improvements so that its early and unused upgrades are slightly better.

3.2.4
  • BUFF xx3 Flash Bomb number of attacks to throw a bomb reduced 4 -> 3 attacks
  • NERF Flash Bomb stun duration reduced 1.3s -> 1.1s
  • BUFF 023 Flash Bomb will now create an additional decamo explosion with 65 range and 75 pierce
Ninja Monkey’s Flash Bomb and Counter Espionage upgrades have never been commonly used upgrades. By buffing the combination of them, we hope to open up a new use case for these upgrades and Ninja as a whole, a somewhat reliable decamo option.[...]

3.3
  • BUFF Basic pierce increased from 2 to 3
We have increased Ninja’s early-game potential since it stood out as a tower with relatively low DPS in the early game, always depending on another tower to deal the damage or to buff it. [...]

3.3.2
  • NERF Flash Bomb: Stun duration 1.1 -> 1s
  • NERF affected by caltrops nerf
Ninja Monkey has spiked up in popularity since the last update, with the Ninja + Alchemist combo standing out as overly strong in all stages of the game. We have made quite a few changes to address this, such as keeping the additional +1 pierce on the early tiers but taking it back off for 2xx, with some price rearranging to accommodate. [...]
