BTDB2

Every few seconds casts an explosive spell.
~ BTDB2 description

Fireball is the 1st upgrade of Path 2 for the Wizard Monkey in Bloons TD Battles 2. It is much stronger than its BTD6 counterpart, shooting high-damage fireballs that deal 2 damage each (3 with 2-1-0), blast radius increased from 10 to 20, and fireballs are shot every 2.6s. Fireballs on-hit and explosion are both Explosion type, having all conditions able to pop Purples, and do not get absorbed by Black Bloon properties. Fireballs pop up to 15 Bloons each, 22 with 0-1-1.

It costs $300.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

A much more powerful early-game upgrade for the Wizard whose high damage explosions makes this upgrade powerful on the get-go, packing a big punch against early sends, even Spaced Greens. As an offset, the fireballs are shot quite slowly, and thus should serve as a bonus in popping power. In addition, the explosions from Fireball in this game can always pop Purple Bloons, but cannot harm Blacks and Zebras without special upgrades or using its bolts. Take advantage of the high damage and cheap Purple popping to break down Purples in a rush.

Tips[]

  • This is a good upgrade to spam when you are being rushed due to the fireball being launched immediately upon upgrade, as well as it is high damage and pierce for its cost. It should not be relied on to defend against rushes alone, but it is great support that can very much make or break a match.

Version History[]

Initial release (compared to BTD6 during Version 28.0)
  • Released
1.0.2
  • BUFF Fireball no longer requires 130 XP to unlock. Any players who purchased this upgrade will receive a full refund.
1.0.6
  • BUFF Fireball damage increased (1 → 3), blast radius increased (10 → 20), reload time decreased (3s → 2.6s), and damage type changed to Explosive
2.0.0
  • NERF Fireball damage decreased (3 -> 2)
  • Change x3x Fireball damage unchanged
Wizard remains a dominant force in all arenas with its fireball being one of its early-game strengths, so we are moving some of its damage from tier 1 to tier 3.
~ Ninja Kiwi
2.0.4
  • BUFF 110 Fireball: The fireball can now shoot through blockers with the Guided Magic crosspath
Guided Magic allows other Wizard attacks to shoot through blockers so it should work for Fireball as well.
~ Ninja Kiwi
4.1
  • BUFF 210 Fireball crosspathed damage increased 2 -> 3
  • BUFF 011 Fireball pierce increased 15 -> 22
We still feel that Wizard Monkey could do with some minor improvements, with a slightly cheaper decamo and some added crosspathing changes that make sense. [...]
