WLP in Lava Phoenix form

Wizard Lord Phoenix is the 5th upgrade of Path 2 for the Wizard Monkey in Bloons TD Battles 2.

Wizard Lord adds a permanent Phoenix equivalent to the Summon Phoenix, and replaces its old ability with a new ability that allows Wizard Lord to summon another much more powerful version of the Summon Phoenix. While the ability is active, a carved flame rune is left where the Wizard was. Activating the ability temporarily transforms the Wizard Monkey into a super powerful phoenix that deals massively increased damage and pierce, can pop any bloon type including Purple Bloons, including Camo Bloons, and in addition to the improved phoenix flame attack (with significantly faster projectile speed), the phoenix regularly spews out 8 fireballs at 45° angles. Additionally, it now also gives all other Phoenix’s double damage while its ability is active.

The main Wizard gains an overhaul in fire attack improvements too. The Wizard's Dragon's Breath attack gains 50 pierce instead of 4, and deals 6 damage each, the Wizard's Fireball attack deals 27 damage instead of 9 from Dragon's Breath, and the Wall of Fire's blaze deals 3 damage every 0.10s for its "tick" damage.

The Wizard Lord Phoenix ability has no initial cooldown and its ability cooldown is 45 seconds.

It costs $50,000, and is unlocked with the other tier 5 Wizard Monkey tier 5 upgrades for Monkey Money1500.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

While the ability is extremely effective against grouped bloons at optimal positioning, the flight pattern is rather inconsistent, and the ability does only moderate damage to BADs for its price. However, a saving grace of this upgrade is the stronger base attacks while the ability is under cooldown, as well as a lack of initial cooldown for the ability. Since there is no initial cooldown for most abilities, such as this one, then the WLP ability can be used over and over again whenever needed to survive constant waves of blimps.

Tips[]

  • Crosspathing doesn't have effect on the Lava Phoenix. It does affect the main attacks, however, though 2-5-0 would optimize the power of the non-transformed form via the improved Dragon's Breath attacks.

Bugs[]

Current

  • [???, discovered and popularised on 3.2.4] Wizard Lord Phoenix can create multiple phoenixes after the ability ends, if and only if specifically using a specific order of speed buffs plus expiring the WLP ability. Discovered and popularized by a user named "Foxyops". Fixed in 3.3.

Wizard deserved some attention after being out of the limelight for a while now. Note that we have also indirectly buffed Wizard with the Ezili change, and we fixed a bug which allowed x5x to be much stronger than intended.
