Cave Monkey is a tower in Bloons TD 6 that was first introduced on Version 17.0. It is unlocked for a single game upon breaking apart the frozen Cave Monkey on Frozen Over by repeatedly bombarding it with a Mortar Monkey for a total of 30 times. Upon breaking the ice, the Cave Monkey spawns close to the entrance of the track. Towers can still be placed on the ice after it breaks.

The Cave Monkey attacks using a wooden club, which pops 1 layer and stuns bloons (including MOAB-class bloons, but not BADs or Bosses) for a short amount of time (1.0 seconds for bloons, 0.25 seconds for MOAB-class bloons). The club can hit up to 5 bloons at once in a similar manner to Pat Fusty, and these hits are able to pop all bloons, although it cannot see camo. It attacks every 1.1s.

No upgrades are available for the Cave Monkey and selling it will give no money. There is no way to get the Cave Monkey back if sold other than starting a new game.

Strategy

Summary

It is quite cheap to get, with only the need for a Mortar Monkey to unlock it. Its main power is to act as a support stun against bloons and blimps, mainly the second-mentioned.

Tips

• If the Cave Monkey has enough attack Speed buffs, it can solo a Z.O.M.G.
• The best targeting for the Cave Monkey tends to be Strong because of the stun effect it has on bloons. It also benefits from targeting First.
• In Co-op Mode, only Player 1 will be able to switch the Cave Monkey's targeting, regardless of which player breaks the ice. Co-ordinate with Player 1 to set its targeting or reposition it.

Trivia

• There is an exploit in Version 19.2 where more than one Cave Monkey is able to spawn if the Cave Monkey summoning animation occurs while the round just ends. This was featured by ISAB on 24th July 2020 (American time).
• As of an unknown update, the Cave Monkey has used the Support Class background when selected.
• Cave Monkey is used in the current Frozen Over LCC record written in the BTD6 Index.
• According to the July 17th 2020 blog, the Cave Monkey is named Greg.
