Bloons Wiki

Sweet and formidable, Bubblegum uses her high-tech guns and Princess powers to win the day.
~ BATTD description
Uses her custom bubblegum blaster to damage and slow bloons.
~ Short description

Princess Bubblegum (frequently shortened to PB) is a hero in Bloons Adventure Time TD. She is the third Adventure Time-related hero in the game, along with being the fourth hero to be unlocked in the game. She is unlocked in the Candy Throne Room, by completing every level in the Candy Cornered adventure. Her main attack is to shoot wads of bubblegum at Bloons, which is similar to a Glue Gunner with Glue Splatter but with a small blast radius, and it also pops one Bloon layer upon impact. As with all BATTD heroes, only one of Princess Bubblegum may be placed at one time. She costs $650 to place and uses Gun weapons.

PB has a character variant called Warrior Bubblegum who fits in with a later phase of the character's history. This variant wields a sword and spawns characters that act as sentries, much like the Monkey Engineer.

Star Boost[]

PB will receive the following permanent boosts as she levels up:

  • 2 stars - Base attack cooldown decreased by 0.1*
  • 4 stars - Base range increased by 2
  • 6 stars - Base attack blast radius increased by 2
  • 8 stars - Base attack cooldown decreased by 0.1*
  • 9 stars - Base range increased by 3
  • 10 stars - Base attack changed to corrosive gum which does 1 damage per second to bloons

*Shows "attack speed increased by X" in the official patch notes and in the game - this is misleading. The attack speed stat is the inverse of attack cooldown.

Strategies[]

Princess Bubblegum is a relatively even split support-damage dealing hybrid.

As a base tower, PB is to be used like the Glue Gunner. Due to her blasts dealing area damage, she can solo the first few rounds on easier maps. However, the low damage dealt also makes her gum (which is basically glue) less effective against stronger bloons. The damage is applied before the gum effect, and it is possible for only one child bloon out of a parent bloon to get gummed. Additional upgrades can make her better suited for crowd control though. Super Intelligence is particularly useful as it allows her to both remove regrow and remove camo statuses from Bloons.

Tips[]

  • Her ability is pretty interesting and seemingly has bug that makes certain weapons give it better damage than others. With Candy Cane Shotgun, its total damage from start to finish is reduced about 3 times compared to that of Liquifier and fires only one stream of jellybeans, seems like having triple stream of projectiles on basic makes ability 3 times weaker. With this gun it seemingly hits for 200 hits with Soda and Mints ability upgrade. This weapon only seemingly is good if you want to use PB without abilities, probably because of you not having her at 7 stars, just mind you, she needs to be point blank to the track to even hit yellow bloon with Liquifier and Cosmic gauntlets, -10% speed of this weapon doesn't make it any easier .
  • With Liquifier her ability enhanced with Soda and Mints upgrade hits for 599 hits and accepts Engineers Blueprints, Rock Shirt, Gemma the Gemstone and Weapon given damage boosts flawlessly, this weapon seems to be the best weapon for her ability, with it doing the most of hits, while Candy Cane Shotgun being seemingly the worst performing about 3 times worse in amount of hits and 2 other epic weapons doing 2 times worse in amounts of hits they do compared to Liquifier. Seems like speed boosts given by her Weapon does change amount of hits she can perform on ability, while Lemonhope definitely doesn't boost it. Only trinkets that add 20% attack speed or Baker's Shard give boost for her ability other than Weapons with speed increase.
  • If to add someone with huge range and Googoomamameter (Especially Supermonkey, because other than 15% speed boosts, Glasses of Nerdicon (let's not forget Crystal Gem Apple, Missile, Soul Stone) he doesn't really benefits from stat boosts, so he needs to be focused on support and damage up items) and when it enters into Googoomamameter holder's range followed by her immediate use of enhanced by Soda and Mints ability of hers with Liquifier, it will do 600 hits of normal damage + 59(amount of hits per full ability use)*7(unknown multiplication source)*3(Googoomamameter boost) damage, adding 1239 damage on top. Seems numbers aren't supposed to be 59 and 599, but 60 and 600, but then it applies only on last layer it counts damage it (1st level in this case - pure damage per full ability without Googoomamameter, 2nd and last- Googoomamameter added damage).
  • Make sure Marceline's character is floating near her (at least within her range) during PB's ability use and they both have mutual benefit items: Gemma the Gemstone and Rock Shirt on PB and Carl the Gem on Marceline, it's important part for this to work or your PB's ability won't be hitting as hard and will hit more than twice times less, your goal is to try hitting 11k-13777 (Max damage, utilizes Marceline bug) damage, or higher if possible. Don't overdo boosting her damage as it can backfire, Liquifier, Engineers Blueprints, Gemma the Gemstone, Rock Shirt, Baker's Shard, Cosmic Gauntlets, Baby Tooth, Candy Diving Suit , and Super Monkey with Googoomamameter are essential, but if you add too much damage stat on top of it, even just 1 random +1 damage item it could reduce ability's damage because of ruining a bug that making it hit so high. 9 stars PB with Liquifier with this set up can hit 13777 per ability at 9 stars but if you even add Monkey Academy Degree on top of it all, the damage will just collapse really hard. So if you risk and try upgrading PB to 10 stars will be your bad if you loose all that damage. Honestly, better discover what Secrets Warrior PB has, then risk damage on ability to 10 starring og PB.
  • Seems like speed trinkets though can change PB's ability damage, not directly, but affecting Googoomamameter damage bonus. By having PB's speed change from (0,67*1,5 is about 1 ; 0,7*1,5 is slightly above 1; 2,1* 1,5 is slightly above 3) about 2,1 to about 3,0 with Baker's shard, bonus from Googoomamameter changes from 59*7*3 to 59*10*3, so for each use, she can do bonus 59 hits with 3 damage each per 0,3 of her speed, which is the last way to help her ability other than reducing ability cooldowns, making it interesting choice, so you might want to use Baker's Shard as her last item.
  • Using Cosmic Gauntlets with Baby Tooth, 1 COBRA for cooldown reduction barely manages to give PB basically permanent ability. so using those you get rid of her base attack, so attack doesn't matter as basic attack boosting stat in this case (if you spam her ability button fast enough), and if speed has 0 effect on ability of hers, only her damage matters.
  • There are two types of speed increases. Speed delay decrease type and raw speed multiplication Speed increase. Weapons with speed boosts, 20% attack speed increase character specific trinkets or ones that are accessible to everyone, but getting boost from certain character in range and other conditions met and Baker's Shard all multiply damage after all the other sources of speed boosts reduced speed delay. Speed multiplying items translate their speed well in PB's ability, while no other way of speed boost affects her ability. Speed Delay decrease is calculated by having increase from regular trinket instrument character's boost or boosting ally, increase being "x" use to change character's base speed being "y" by doing the following y÷(1-x). And it repeats every time you get a new speed boost, increasing your Speed more and more . PB's ability though doesn't benefit from reducing speed delay.

  • Her dependency of ability to speed and damage makes her not such great of holder as previously thought of Magic Coin Purse (that's one is important) and Crystal Ball, if you have a trouble putting those on her, especially the former, put it on FP, as she only needs Engineers blueprints, Fire Crown, Baker's Shard, 1 negative effect protection/water placement trinket, Banana Replicator and 1 COBRA with Cool. Reduction on field to be good.
  • She is one of most interesting characters to get to 9 (not 10, because it ruins a certain bug that helps her do a lot more damage, and can also harm money making due to her DoT effect) stars once you got everyone from your main squad to 7 stars, at least for everyone, even more if you are f2p, because there's alternative character you can get to upgrade after that with those same items and you don't stuck with with items dropping for a character you already 10 starred, same goes for Commander Cassie. People who bought premium characters might have their Finn, Marceline and Jake to be interesting in that sense to, OG Finn and OG Marceline got every slot with something very useful you can insert in each, at 8 stars you only start to approach to their maximum potential.

Trivia[]

  • One of the upgrades, Super Intelligence, can be compared to a Glue Gunner with both Heart of Oak and Counter-Espionage in each shot. The fact that the upgrade automatically gives Princess Bubblegum camo detection is also comparable to Signal Flare.
  • The Super Intelligence upgrade icon is a possible reference to the Bloons TD 4 Camo Bloon popping into Pink Bloons.
  • Princess Bubblegum is also an scientist. She appears on the Wish Orb opening animation and the Wish Orb Creator menu.
  • Even without the Super Intelligence upgrade, PB can indirectly deal damage to Camo Bloons and cover them in gum by splashing. But she first should have a non-camo bloon be close to the camo bloon, so it's not a reliable strategy for Impoppable, especially with fast bloons starting with Round 10.
  • Despite the upgrade's description saying that it does "explosive damage", Soda and Mints' damage type remains Normal Type (pops Black, White, Purple, Lead, Frozen) Normal, not Explosion Type (pops White, Purple, Lead, Frozen) Explosion, so the ability still damages DDTs.
  • PB is also part of a hidden achievement. If she is with Finn and Flame Princess on a map at the same time, the player will earn the achievement named "Awkward...".
  • The Jellybeans Have Power upgrade does not need to have Regal Presence upgraded, despite the upgrade tree showing otherwise.
  • The Royal Promise upgrade can be bought if Finn has Warrior Bubblegum but not Princess Bubblegum in his range, while still being in range of the latter.
  • If the Royal Promise is broken due to a bloon leaking, the RBE of the bloon in addition to the 50 lives lost as part of the penalty are added together (e.g. leaking a red will cost 51 lives, slightly more than half of the number of starting lives on Extreme Difficulty).
    • In other words, if a Ceramic leaks on Hard Difficulty (before adding extra lives or life protection) while Royal Promise is active, it will result in a loss of the game.
    • Fortunately, Finn still gets to keep his Bound by Word upgrade even after the Royal Promise breaks. (as evident when a bloon leaks after Royal Promise is broken for a while)
    • If tanking one or two weak bloons that reached the exit, using the Tiki Shield can prevent losing lives (up to 5 per equipped character placed) and consequently avoid triggering the devastating Royal Promise penalty. Try not to tank bloons with the Stone Skin Potion alone as the (up to 30 at Level 10) extra lives are still technically counted as lives, hence losing them will still trigger the penalty, netting a loss of down to 20 (at Level 10) lives.
    • If the player must sell Finn or PB at any point on Impoppable Difficulty (except Round 75) while Royal Promise is active, using Time Travel Machine or Ancient Sleeping Magi of Lifegiving allows the player to revive from the life loss penalty. Note that this only works once per game, so it's better to use BMO's Skateboard or Martian Transport to move them at almost all instances.
    • The player can exploit the Royal Promise's life loss mechanic on Impoppable Difficulty by using a Dimension Disruptor or having an Abraham Lincoln's Penny equipped to a character whom the player doesn't plan to sell, and finally selling Finn or PB to cause a whole screen wipe. They shouldn't rely on this trick to complete normal rounds, however, as these revives can only be used a limited amount of times per game.
  • In Martian Games events with the Magic Man rule, Magic Man can trigger the Royal Promise penalty by kidnapping Finn or PB while the Royal Promise is active.
  • In Impoppable, due to the player having only 1 life after a continue, if a bloon leaking causes fatal damage whilst Royal Promise is active, one continue will only give the player a +$5000 bonus, as the penalty will kill the player a second time.

Notes[]

  1. The game does not report her default damage type on her information screen, simply stating that it is "N/A". However, her gun attacks can pop Purple Bloons, Thermal Bloons, Lead Bloons, and Ghost Bloons
